Solid offering, and best gym, in Plymouth area. Daily guest pass is $10. Cardio room is closed/walled off as a separate room so be ware of a sort of sweaty experience in there. Otherwise, definitely the best option for the area. read more

Well Equipped Gym with tons, literally, of free weights and ample weight machines to exercise every muscle of your body. The Gym is very clean and the manager is conscientious, welcoming and professional. Cardio Room is separate from the gym floor and has tread mills, step and elliptical machines. Locker rooms are clean; there is a steam room in the men's locker room but for some reason, it is not functioning. It is a no-fuss gym that is absolutely perfect for any exercise enthusiast! read more

I spoke to the manager at the powerhouse gym in Plymouth. She was very rude. I called to see if I needed to reinstate my account. They stopped taking money out of my account so I assumed it was due to COVID. I was told by a staff member when I first called it was because my card expired. It turns out my card didn't expire until the following year. The manager couldn't give me an explanation. It wasn't on my end or my bank. I asked her how come she didn't reach out to me. She said it wasn't her job to do my banking. I signed up for automatic banking, my card wasn't expired, COVID was not my doing. I was looking to go back. I'm no long interested. owner/manager extremely unprofessional and rude. read more

Seems like it has started to downturn since the recent management change. Bathrooms are disgusting, towel and soap dispensers are often empty. Grounds are a mess. Side stairs and sidewalk to back parking lot are overgrown, ugly and poorly lit. More effort cleaning and maintaining could easily turn it around. read more

I let them watch my child in the daycare and they let my child cry and didn't stop it. it is completely out of control they let my child throw a toy at the ceiling and the ceiling tile fell on my child she stood there and laughed while my child was hurting. My child now has a concussion and is in a medically induced coma. This is taking a tole on the family as my wife and i are now getting a divorce. we are having financial struggles and are most likely going to become homeless. This place is everything you want in a gym and nothing you don't. It's a gym that appeals to pretty much anyone from high school kids to retirees. One of my biggest gripes with a lot of gyms is cleaninless. Powerhouse is one of the best in this regard. As far as free weights go you will not find another gym in this area with dumbells up to 130 pounds. There are multiple sets of dumbells up to 100lbs so there has never been a time that I've had to wait for someone to finish. In the more commonly used sets like 40lbs there are 3 full sets. There are multiple bench press setups including a decline and all sorts of equipment from squat racks to shoulder press benches. It's one of the more fully equipped free weight gyms I've seen. There are also plenty of machines most all of which are the more modern belt and cable systems. This means they're smooth and the owner does a good job of replacing belts and cables as needed. There's nothing worse than a cable that catches and you won't find that here. There are plenty of bars so you'll never end up walking around the gym looking for a flatbar as they have multiples of each. If I were rating the gym on a scale of 1 to 10 for free weights it'd be about a 9.9. For machines pretty much a 10. How many gyms have 3 stations for cable crossovers and 3 lat pulldown machines? Not many in this market. Cardio is good but it's probably time that they do some work to the precors. They aren't as smooth as they once were but there's ample Cybex, stairclimbers, treadmills and bikes to go around. Again you'll never wait for the machine of your choice as they have multiples of each. Two things that have always impressed me about this gym. If I'm in there on a Monday and there's an "out of order" sign on a machine most of the time it's fixed before I go back again. Second the people are friendly from Deb to Andy and I really like the fact that this gym is dominated by fitness fanatics versus what some of the older gyms had in the day. This is one of the few gyms I've been to where the mix is probably 50/50 men to women and that speaks to how clean the place is, the depth of the classes available to members, the daycare and more importantly the fact that this gym is loaded with equipment. read more

What you would expect. Clean simple but a typical old-school powerhouse without the hard-core edge to it. everything you need to get the job done and in working order. water pressure in shower was great which is important to me since I am traveling on the dolphin tour. If you get sick of the jokers, chatterboxes, the non motivated & fakes at regular Gyms (think Planet Fitness or workout world I had memberships for years between the two) give Powehouse a try. I was skeptical at first especially at the $30 a month, however the clientele, staff & machines offered sold me within the first week. The energy in the gym is great & full of positive people who take their workouts seriously. Everyone is there for a goal (sports related or fitness) and it shows. The locker rooms are spotless, showers are always clean, and so are the machines. Makeup mirrors & hair dryers in women's Lockeroom are a bonus. read more

Sorry, but I can't agree with the previous reviewer. As a fitness consultant and trainer for more than 20 years, I've been in and out of dozens of gyms all over the country. Powerhouse is better than average in some ways, but it has some real shortcomings and is spatially challenged. I will say at the outset that the staff is friendly and enthusiastic, the facility is acceptably clean, and both the cardio room and the babysitting area get kudos from this reviewer. On the down side, there are several things that don't appeal. Shared parking in front of the building during peak exercise hours is inadequate. Parking at the back of the building is inconvenient, as there is no rear entrance and members have to walk downhill and halfway around the building to get to the entrance door. The aerobics room is too small to accommodate the more popular classes (I've walked out more than once because of crowding), and the need to store equipment like hand weights, bars, mats, and steps around the perimeter of the room limits free space even more. Also, the a/c in that room is inadequate during hot, humid weather. The upstairs room used for spinning is very small and crowded, with deafening acoustics (I seriously recommend ear plugs). If you are only looking for a place to lift heavy weights, you won't be disappointed, but if you're not interested in building muscle bulk and want to train with lighter weights or machines for muscle endurance, there's much less reason to recommend this gym. Most of the equipment works best for average to big guys. Physically smaller individuals are not as well accommodated. There may be multiple sets of dumbbells up to 100 pounds, but the same is not true for weights under 20 pounds. The more versatile machines are shared by a physical therapy program, and depending upon time of day, you may have to wait for someone doing PT to finish with a machine before you can get on it. A popular circuit workout (separate fee charged) takes up space in the middle of the weight room because there's really nowhere else to put it. Membership fees are about average, but you'll have to pay more to really get "everything you want in a gym." read more
