The Shadyside Garage is located in the Walnut Business District, which has lots of restaurants and…read moreretail stores but little street parking. I felt very thankful to find this garage to park my vehicle. This garage contains a couple hundred parking spaces, and it is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. As of 2023, the parking rates are $3 for less than 1 hour, $6 for less than 3 hours, $9 for less than 5 hours, and $12 for over 5 hours. A monthly lease is also available. Customers may pay either cash or credit card to either the cashier or the machines. My husband and I parked our vehicle at this garage for less than one hour, so we had to pay only $3. One payment machine was not working, and a long line of customers was waiting for the other machine. The cashier called my husband and me over to his window, and in a matter of seconds, the cashier accepted our payment, and he told us, "Have a good one!" My husband and I rode the elevator up to our parking level to retrieve our vehicle. As we exited the garage, we put our paid parking ticket in the exit machine.

Pricing: not too bad considering the area. The guy behind the counter is weird/assertive. I tried…read moretwice inserting my ticket--it was refused--and he yelled at me to pay cash (which includes a $3 service fee and $20 minimum withdrawal amount). We also had to flag down the guy to open the gate to let us out. Would rather fight for street parking or find a further garage and walk.

Now they have and it's a fun place to go shop, eat and drink. My favorite places in there are Novo Food Hall, Askin Brewery, Heibers, City Winery and Shake Shack. You can get something quick to eat if you lack time before an event at Shake Shack. They have great burgers. Novo is a great place to go and try out all different things from all different Asian foods from Japan, Korea and the Philippines. We've tried several different places and had lots of great dishes. If you need a drink and some good food to wash it down then Aslin is the place to go. They even have trivia nights which are lots of fun. I love going to concerts and City Winery is a fun spot to see a show because it's a small venue which has no bad seats. We have seen. Comedians and concerts there. If you pay in cash at the venue, you can avoid the fees. You can go there for a fun afternoon or a great evening with friends and family.

Shake Shack is also located here. Novo Asian Food Hall is also part of The Terminal as is City Winery. There are also fitness studios, a bookstore, jeweler, and more. Aslin Beer Co. is also at The Terminal. Lots of new places being added. Some of us were resistant to these changes but it seems yinzers and tourists alike are finding love or at least likability for this relatively new space.

I think that Squirrel Hill is one of the best neighborhoods in the city of Pittsburgh. It contains…read moremostly residential homes but also parts of Schenley Park, Frick Park, Carnegie Mellon University, many retail stores, and many delicious restaurants. For many years my husband and I have visited Squirrel Hill, mostly to shop and dine. We always park our vehicle in a garage. We recommend putting a bit more money into the parking meter than you expect to need, because we have seen a police officer writing many parking tickets for vehicles in that garage. Most recently, my husband and I did a self-designed food tour in several restaurants on Murray Avenue and Forbes Avenue. We ate at T-Swirl Crepe, Waffallonia, Amazing Dumplings, Commonplace Coffee, and Hidden Harbor. We also shopped in Panda Supermarket, Chocolate Moose, and Ebisu and spent time in the Carnegie Library. Previously we enjoyed eating at Kiin Lao & Thai Eatery, Ramen Bar, Kyo Matcha, Mango Mango, etcetera. We always appreciate how the business district has a diverse population and international cuisine, is very walkable, and feels safe.

It's because my theme is a progressive dinner style around Asian restaurants. I saw a lot of storefronts on Forbes that were covered with coming soon building wraps. They were all Asian restaurants. That's a good sign. For sure, it's a progress with economic prosperity in this neighborhood. I stayed at an Airbnb with walking distance to the center of the attention. My only gripe was that not many restaurants open on Sunday morning. But I enjoyed my morning stroll alone to witness the fall colors. That's a bonus on this trip. I could never see this sight in Houston Texas, where I'm from.
