In 1933, the courtyard in front of the Church was revitalized. Four years later, in 1937, Mayor Novaes Filho transformed the square into a leisure space, making it available to the people of Pernambuco. The landscaper designed the park with three gardens, using species of Brazilian and Amazonian flora, in addition to exotic plants.
