We also got the duck bao buns but the duck did not taste fresh so I would not recommend ordering that.

During our visit the musician Colin Andrew played/sang and he was amazing. With notes of Paolo Nutini, he really added to the overall vibe and made the night a hit. All in all I can't speak highly enough about The Bloomsbury Club drinks and vibe and would absolutely return in a second!

Whilst I have stayed here myself a few times in the past, it's worth noting a few things; 1. Christmas Day 2018 staff were delightful and very generous to using group - thank you! Free coffees and a few drinks, some chocolate and many smiles. We appreciate you and the happy hour from 4-6! 2. Basic rooms, but when you can pay all upfront and in advance at a rate if £45 including breakfast, in Ealing Broadway, a short trip on the Central Line into London, totally worth it. Amenities can be requested at the front desk, like hairdryer, extra towels etc. 3. The breakfasts aren't bad! And the Lavazza coffee machine is the best - just make sure you don't wait til breakfast is almost up. It may be "unlimited", but they're very quick to clear it away! 4. Great restaurants very nearby, and some great pubs too. A black cab from the train station is about £5 if you don't fancy waiting for an E2 or E8 that stops outside the hotel. 5. The police station is two doors down. If you're a light sleeper, sirens can be heard. But at least the response time would be seconds, right!? One final thing though... The light on the 5th floor (business floor) sensor doesn't actually work until you come all the way down the corridor. Kind of scary when it's night and dark, please fix it!

Wish I'd listened to my own self-imposed ban on staying at any Travelodge ever again and paid the extra. Things did not start off well as when I arrived, having walked about 15 mins from the Tube in the pouring rain, the self-service kiosk could not find my booking at all and I then had to wait in a queue for 10 minutes to check-in. Reception staff did not offer any explanation as to what the problem was. Room was OK - the reason I'd been suckered into staying was that the Ealing hotel had recently been refurbished with new beds, etc. Pillows were a bit soft and mean. Towels were good. Bathroom was clean but the toilet bowl was stained as if it hadn't been cleaned properly in a while - bit of a turn-off! No hairdryer in room though they gave me a loan of one at reception. There was not a plug near enough a mirror that the hairdryer reached to properly - I had to dry one side of my hair at one plug, and then move to another plug for the other side. A little road testing of rooms and amenities would have highlighted that problem. All in all, a lack of eye for detail. I wouldn't stay here again - I actually stayed at the Premier Inn for next 3 nights and regretted not having stayed there for this extra night, too. That'll teach me to try and save a buck!

The mainly Russian crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves - dancing around their tables with relish... but we just couldn't get into it So... put-off by the harlots and bored of the music, we wandered upstairs to the casino. It was like a scene out of an old Western movie. A stagnant empty room with exactly TWO men drinking Scotch and playing Blackjack. The rest of the dealers were just shuffling their cards... "Is it always like this?" I asked one of them. "It's been a quiet week," he replied... (Or perhaps year? I wondered... judging from the staleness in the air...) Undaunted by the eerie scene, my friend bought some chips for a bit of roulette. Twenty minutes later, and my friend at least that many quid poorer, we left. More than anything, FIFTY London just felt depressing. I don't know what it was like a year or two ago... maybe it can *be* happening... but the night I was there, it felt like it had bitten the recession dust pretty hard.

I think of it as a very light cirque du soleil that is slightly bawdy. But I repeat, it is not a gentleman's club. In fact, the audience was either couples or groups of women. The seating is kind of weird upstairs. The room is circular so you may happen to view the show from behind the actors, which is what we did. It was still good but there were certain scenes that took place behind pillars, and it was a bit harder to view those scenes. I bought tickets for only 15 pounds (that's around $22 USD as of this writing) so it was not a bad deal.

The service was friendly and I met the owner Sharon and we had a lovely chat. My roast arrived and it was just the meal I needed. Roast beef smothered in brown gravy, veggies cooked to perfection, and Yorkshire pudding (a light delicate bread) and I washed it down with a Diet Coke. Truly such savory meal that didn't feel heavy at all. With that fuel I hoped on thr tube and explored London. Priced fairly and a space with a rich musical history, I'd gladly be a water rat again!

The place had a nice, spacious vibe, and since it was really early, we pretty much had it all to ourselves. But what really made it special was what we found out afterward-- Here's the cool part: there's been a public house on this site for over 500 years! The current building was put up in 1878. It was a regular hangout for none other than Karl Marx and Lenin--how wild is that? The walls are covered with photos of famous performers who've been there, along with images from the Grand Order of Water Rats. The whole place just feels rich with history--both old and more recent. The pub was bought in 1986 by the Grand Order of Water Rats, a showbiz charity whose members have included legends like Charlie Chaplin, and currently, Rick Wakeman. Even cooler--it's where Bob Dylan played his first-ever UK gig back in the 1960s. Since then, it's hosted the London debuts of bands like The Pogues and Oasis. And in this tiny back room, they've had live performances by major international stars, including Katy Perry.

Instead I stayed for a coffee before venturing to their upstairs bar which was recommended while I waited for someone, as there was due to be live music which was really helpful. The service was fast, the drinks good, and Andreja who was serving was especially nice. The restaurant is cosy and really well situated, and the upstairs bar has a great lounge vibe. Highly recommended!
