Costinha Beach is the first beach in the city of Lucena (there are 6 beaches in Lucena). If you arrive by ferry, you land on Costinha Beach. The city is really just a fishing village mixed with summer homes, so you will probably have the place all to yourself if you visit.
There are no bars or restaurants on Costinha, and no bathrooms, but you will have the chance to walk on a tropical beach lined with coconut trees swaying in the breeze. At certain times of the year, sea turtles climb the shore to lay their eggs. I have had the pleasure of seeing baby turtles emerge from their nests and scurry down to the sea.
There are many beaches in the area that are more beautiful, and while I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Costinha Beach, if you find yourself in the neighborhood, it's worth stopping for a photo or two. read more
