The Lindskov ranchland holdings are vast, though the hunting is confined to certain acreage with designated crops cultivated to support the upland game hunting. Wild pheasant, sharptail grouse, and Hungarian partridge are the wingshooter's forray. Plenty of shooting. Plenty. Currently, it's 5 birds per day; 15 birds per trip is included in the standard package; any shooting over this has the usual overage charge. Taken birds are cleaned, vacuum-wrapped, and frozen for the trip home. For me (a 3-season veteran) the BEST part of Firesteel Creek Lodge is their crew of guides and their dogs. I hunt all over America and down in Argentina. I consider the professional guides and dogs of Firesteel Creek Lodge to be the "Top of the Heap" -- the very best. Why? -- First, the guides are keenly concerned with guest safety, and if you've hunted for a number of years, you know that shotgun hunting accidents can happen. This crew ensures that risks are kept at a minimium, and that everyone goes home safe and sound. Second, the dogs are energetic and disciplined -- they hold and let you shoot; they don't chase after the arisen birds and block your shots. Not all wingshooting resorts can say that. And, lastly, the guides are genuinely concerned that you have a great time hunting with them; they work hard for your satisfaction. A great guide crew. Maybe America's Best. The accommodations are upscale and terrific. The meals are home-cooked "man food" and plenty of it -- yuummm (thanks to the kitchen skills of Les and Marcia Lindskov, the CEOs -- where else in America does a shooting resort owner cook your breakfasts?). After dinner, join Les and your fellow hunters and guides downstairs in the Lodge Room for a drink (or two) and some conversation. And, if you want to smoke a cigar or your favorite pipe (like me), there's the comfortable little gazebo smoking house connected to the downstairs Lodge Room for us smoker-yarn spinners -- call us raconteurs, if you will. I'm struggling with this one!…read more I was online waiting for a different campground to 'open' general registration for Sturgis Bike Week. (I felt like a ticketless T.Swift fan! Sold out before I could check out ). So I jumped to Shade Valley's page, spotted a full hook up site for my MH, and locked it in before looking further! Then while scanning our receipt before forwarding our lucky news to our co-travelers, I saw a caveat about wristbands. In addition to the reasonable camp fee, there was a very salty *required* wristband. (x4) For our party, that would have been an additional $900. I immediately contacted them, it took a couple weeks to get a refund, but we did get our full refund (they made an exception- usually there is a 20% penalty) Honestly, maybe there are concerts or beer or entertainment that come with the wristband? But my crew was only looking for a place to lay their heads overnight. So while I was really unhappy about what I initially perceived as a hidden expense, in the end I was made whole. FYI - the people I spoke with and emailed were gracious and professional! My fault for not researching first. Not cool on their end for the separate required "fee" that basically doubled the cost to the customer.

The "carefree" camping package is the biggest rip off of it all. They couldn't have picked a cheaper sleeping bag, chair, flashlight, or air mattress. We were missing half our promised gear when we arrived. We booked and bought our campsites 9 MONTHS in advance and asked over the phone for the "shadiest spot they had". They gave us a spot with almost zero shade. We woke up every morning on fire. We ate one dinner here and the food was bad. ATM anywhere on grounds for the cash bar? Nope Food after 8pm? Nope Hot breakfast? Nope (cook quit cause the place sucks) Ice? Nope Shaded campsite? Nope Bike wash? Nope Zip line? Mechanical bull? Nope
