When I first called she answered by her first name, not as Days Inn. I asked if I had the correct phone number and she said yes. I stated that I was charged for a cancelled reservation. She said "tell you what, call back in a half hour". Not a great start. When I called back she didn't take any information or look up anything before saying that if I was charged it was because of the policy. She said that there are no hotels that let you cancel under 48 hours, which is just untrue as most major chains, including Wyndham, allow for cancellations up the check in, particularly under their military member program. The Days Inn booking failed to disclose that cancellations made under 48 hours cannot be cancelled. The military member policy on the Wyndham app is free cancellation up to 24 hours. Wyndham customer service was a chat that disconnected followed by a series of unhelpful and incompetent call center employees. I will never again stay at a Wyndham property.

It is an old hotel, so it shares a pool across the street and the sink is unfortunately in the room. The showers are hot, and the pressure is not the worst. The takeaway breakfast is a bit disappointing. But, it is a modestly priced, comfortable place to see near Badlands.

We stayed here while visiting the Badlands, and while the hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and…read moreexactly what our family needed, I need to talk about David, who worked the continental breakfast area. David is not a breakfast attendant. David is a hospitality wizard who has somehow chosen to use his powers in Wall, South Dakota. He is a force of nature. A once-in-a-generation talent. A man whose mastery of hospitality borders on the supernatural. Every morning he greeted guests with a smile, kept everything stocked, cleaned, organized, and running smoothly, all while making people feel genuinely welcome. My family looked forward to seeing him each morning. I've stayed in hotels all over the country, and I can confidently say that David may be the single greatest continental breakfast attendant in the history of lodging. If there were a Breakfast Hall of Fame, he would be a first-ballot inductee. If there were a Mount Rushmore of hospitality workers, they would need to carve a fifth face. At one point I watched him refill the pancake station with such efficiency and grace that I briefly wondered if I was witnessing an advanced civilization disguised as a hotel employee. Scientists should study his ability to keep coffee flowing, raspberry-filled donuts available, and traveler morale at peak levels. Economists should measure the positive impact he has on the local tourism industry. Historians will someday ask how a continental breakfast at a roadside hotel became legendary. The answer will be simple: David. In all seriousness, David was incredibly friendly, hardworking, and professional. He made a great hotel stay even better. Give him a raise. Five stars for the hotel. Six stars for David. P.S. - If I ever return to Wall, South Dakota, it will be partly to see the Badlands again, but mostly to verify that David is, in fact, a real person and not a hospitality legend passed down through generations of travelers.

We had completed a long day and we really needed a good bed. This B3st Western delivered. It is also close to several restaurants and an easy access to east/west highways. The morning breakfast was a really nice surprise! Fiancée is celiac, and the fact they have gluten free items is awesome! Coffee, juices, eggs, potatoes, Canadian bacon or ham (I don't eat either and can't tell the difference lol). The reason for the star deduction are the rooms. A few things: We booked a king room. Unfortunately when we arrived and entered, it reeked of smoke! Really badly, eye burning. Apparently there was a prior guest in there who wasn't supposed to be rented to? I believe the hotel is 100% smoke-free. The person at the desk that night did apologize and move us to another room. Unfortunately, it had 2 queen beds rather than 1 king bed. We're here as a couple for a Valentine's Day getaway, so that does disappoint as it isn't what we paid for. No discount on the room offered or anything for the trouble. Additionally, it doesn't look like they offer in-room safes. I've stayed at motel 6's and super 8's that offer those! Not a reassuring feeling, and now we'll be gone all day worrying about valuables left in the room. Or we'll bring them in the car and hope they aren't stolen out of there. Finally, the in-room refrigerator doesn't have a freezer section. Sucks when you bring ice packs because you plan on packing a lunch to save money in these expensive times. Can't freeze those and can't bring a lunch on our day to the badlands. The refrigerator isn't very cold either. Maybe 50-55 degrees F. Do NOT store food in there, it won't keep. So much for keeping any leftovers if we eat dinner out. A couple small nitpicks like a hair in the shower stall, hey it happens. We're here a couple of more days. Maybe it'll get better. The parking, quiet room, and the breakfast are all big pros. On the other hand, it has been disappointing in a few key areas.
