I attended Mass at this parish three times while visiting the area. What a gem. The pastor speaks at least 3 languages, including Latin. I found both priests and the parishioners welcoming. It's apparent that Fr. Kevin really cares about souls, the souls of his flock. He makes the Sacraments available. His homilies are an opportunity to learn more about the Faith. Fr. Kevin is a teacher. He also makes theology easy to grasp but doesn't water it down so to speak. Next time I'll take notes! I realize for some Mass may be long so when I think of that I realize it's because my love is short. God bless everyone at Precious Blood. I look forward to visiting again. read more

I was at the funeral that Ho Chee M attended... it wasn't as bad as stated and it seems this reviewer rushed home to write that nasty review... I am sorry he had a bad experience. Regarding the funeral mass - I will admit that Fr Kevin wasn't completely Jesus like, that is taking the blows and turning the other cheek (how many of us are?) but why not just follow instructions if you don't already know what the norms are at a Catholic funeral mass instead of testing him (or any priest) to begin with? Priests only state the guidelines about receiving communion when it is clear that attendees aren't practicing Catholics (common at funeral masses)... and it wasn't his fault the children didn't know where to go or what to do, perhaps some adults in the family should have guided them or perhaps they could have even asked any of the other adults for help instead of walking out of the church. (many attendees noticed that moment because we were all waiting, and when we turned around to look they had just disappeared - it was kind of weird) If you want a fuzzy rainbow church or a Fr James Martin kumbaya service then Fr. Kevin is not your guy. But if you are serious about going deeper in your faith, understanding the Bible in an accurate historical context, learning Catholic theology, appreciate explanations of how English translations evolved from Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, and if you want a pastor who is obedient and conforms to the guidelines from the Bishop, Magisterium, and the Pope - then this pastor will serve you well! He is an amazing confessor too... But really, just think about it this way - if the pastor was so terrible, why do they now have 5 masses each weekend and are on the verge of needing to add a 6th? We're been parishioners here for over 30 years and love this vibrant, thriving, wonderful faith family. There are so many people who are seeking to live out the Gospel of evangelization and humble service. Father Kevin has united our two major language communities of English and Spanish together with love and joy and now with more cultures finding a welcoming community in Culpeper, he does his best to make all parishioners know they have a home here. He especially shines with children, always making time to talk to them (not at them or through their parents) and scoop up the little ones that come to him for hugs and give them encouragement. Father Joseph, too, is a true blessing with his kind and humble presence that is interjected with a great sense of humor. They both lead us with balance and charity to bridge the gaps between the different style preferences of worshippers (not an easy task!). Parking is definitely an issue but that's because were bursting at the seams, which is a great problem to have. Parking across Main street at the paint bucket or the county building adjacent to it makes an easy in and out option. We are extremely blessed and grateful for this faith community read more

In my opinion = IMO IMO the pastor, Kevin Walsh is hiding behind the church of Jesus as cover for hatred. Kevin is so arrogant and self serving in his quest for power over people and control of all things that he has absolutely no qualms with treating preteen children like absolute crap for simple mistakes. And, just so you know, those children he treated so badly are my nieces and a nephew. The setting was my father's funeral mass; their grandfather's funeral. From the beginning, Kev was moving like someone in a hurry to get the job done. No compassion, no empathy, no kindness, just absolute arrogance and contempt. Kevie never even looked at the congregation. No kind words, no reflection about the deceased who was a well known 20 year member of the church. No beauty, no depth, not a single act or kind word like Jesus did with Lazarus' sisters. This, to the family of a man who had given so much of his life in services, financial donations, & whole hearted faith & love. He rushed through the mass & when the kids went to get the offerings they were mislead (accidentally) by a church host or maybe funeral home employee to where the gifts were (gifts = bread wafers and wine to be consecrated). The frustration on this self important man/boy's face, little Kev Kev, was obvious & he marched with fury to the back of the church, grabbed the gifts, and marched quickly back to the front with his vestments wagging behind like the cape behind a witch on her broom. Kevie's pace increased as the mass continued and the disdain he had for having to be there at all was palpable. He skipped the sign of peace completely & rushed into the lamb of god all the while, never looking up. Finally we got to the communion and this is where we see the majesty of Kev's inner most pleasure in excluding people from his private club of "the chosen ones." Kevin B Walsh proudly stated that only practicing Catholics who were living a single life or married in the church were allowed to receive communion which was said in a manner that made it clear, IMO, that if you were fornicating, gay, lesbian, divorced without annulment, or anything Kevy considered untoward, you're excluded. Kevy barked the church rules and even printed them out in the funeral pamphlet. We got to the cemetery and I stopped and asked him if he truly would turn the other cheek. He ducked the question and said "I have two." Then asked me if I would turn the other cheek. I told him I would not since the cheeks I was thinking about were those of the children he had abused through humiliation INSIDE the church that he, Kevin B Walsh, is PASTOR... as he indulged in his entitled snit to get through the funeral mass as quickly as possible. Poor little Kev Kev, aw, little buttercup. He said he practiced the teaching of the church. I asked him what church. He indignantly stated the church of Jesus. I, in so many words, said "so it 's Jesus who is making you act" in the manner he was. Before I took my seat I told him I wanted to discuss things much further & see if lil' Kev truly would turn the other cheek. He finished the funeral proceedings in a rush as we sat through Taps and the 21 gun salute. He was in his car and leaving before we could all say amen. My guess is he did not want to discuss things further. IMO There went a man who claimed to follow Jesus, but showed signs of only the old testament fire & brimstone church doctrine of before the 2nd Vatican Council. If the teachings of the church are to be observed, they need to be in line with Vatican II. His actions showed us at least 3 of the cardinal sins. His arrogance & Pride, his anger & wrath, not to mention the amount of fees & greed shown prior to the mass. Jesus washed the feet of a man. Kev Kev wont even look into the eyes of a grieving family. He's the pastor of the church & acts like dictator about rules while showing us his own special dispensation to flagrantly break the rules he preaches us all to abide by. He took communion moments after showing wrath and preaching about canon 916. He had no humility or humanity, no empathy, sympathy, patience, understanding, & cared for no one but himself. He treated no one as he would like to be treated or in the manner Jesus loved his disciples. So when I say he's a hater, it's not based on race or creed (yeh, maybe a little creed), It's based on whether or not you're Kevin B Walsh. Kevy is contemptuous of all of us who aren't him. My humble guess is that Jesus would have asked him to follow someone else. Maybe, like Nathan to David, I'm saying exactly that to pissy Kevy now. Nah, prolly more like reap what you sow. Anyhoo, IMO he's a man/boy/toddler/angry child Fuhrer, with deep dark secrets & that's all he is no matter how entitled he thinks he is, or is bitter that he's not. He needs a Nathan to help him back to the true church. The one of god & love. Not the one he is unilaterally trying to pimp to those who will indulge him. But that's just my opinion. My experience this afternoon was so bad that I'm considering removing our family from this parish. I take my daughter (who is on the spectrum) to CCD classes on Wednesday evenings. I generally park off to the side as the parking lots tend to be very busy and chaotic for anyone with neurodivergence to safely navigate. There are 2 compact car spaces that are generally reserved for Sundays, however, those 2 spots are the closest to the stripped pedestrian path. Before I could explain why I parked where I parked for drop-off, I was cut off mid-sentence and told "it doesn't matter there are other parking spaces." Patience is a virtue my children are studying this month perhaps the priest I dealt with today could use a little of that same lesson plan going forward. read more
