It took me a really long time to sit down and write this review, as I have very mixed feelings…read moreabout my experience at little excellence. I didn't want to write it while the wound was fresh and I was still upset about what happened. Little excellence was my 2 year old daughters first school experience and she was going full time 3 days a week, with an extra hour of care in the morning. Everything went swimmingly in the beginning and she loved going there. November hit and the honeymoon was over. I got a call that my daughters face got scratched and that there was a mark on her face over a fight over a toy and that as a response my daughter put her mouth on the child as if she was going to bite him but did not leave any marks (as per the phone call message I received). This was our "first warning that she could be "kicked out". I did my part and printed books for both school and home on why we can't bite, as the school asked me to come up with a plan for her. I gave them strategies via email and in person on how to better help her especially before she gets frustrated. There was a second incident, where no one was able to tell me what exactly happened as it was during diaper changing time and there "was not enough staff to watch all the kids at that time". I was told my child had to leave the school as per their policy which I had no problem complying with, but when I asked to see the video so I could see what was happening so I could better help and see what was occurring before the incident, I never received a response. This cut me to my core as it was right before Christmas and my daughter had no idea she was about to be ripped from the only school she's ever known leaving us in a position to scramble for a school. Her last day was the Christmas party where the staff talked about how sweet my daughter was and how sad they were to see her leave, but it was difficult for me to hear as it was not our choice to leave. I do not dispute the school policy and them following the policy what I did not like was how it was handled. No one offered to help her work through this very normal unfortunate toddler behavior. No one allowed me to see how, when or why it was occurring via video. Needless to say we found a great school for our daughter and she is thriving there so much we increased her to 5 full days. Overall I feel like the school has very young teachers who need the time and experience to gain knowledge on how to intervene and teach students rather than resorting to expulsion. I am sticking with 3 stars because my daughter really did love going here and she always had a great time, in morning care she had no issues. Although the teachers were young they still need some more experiences to help them better intervene with toddlers in the future. This wasn't the school for us, but maybe it will be for others.

All the activities which are super cute, are included in the monthly tuition which is not expensive compared to other day cares. I highly recommend this day care . We had…read moreused a well known day care chain, that was supposed to be excellent in Bay ridge, but it was not. It had inconsistent staff , no activities , few toys , nothing on the walls, absolutely not stimulating in any way. So we decided to look for a change. The Staten Island JCC on Manor road has been amazing. Great security, a consistent and caring staff. An inviting room which designates play area with lots of appropriate toys . A nice outdoor play area. This day care is really everything you want for your child and you can leave them there with confidence. They really love and care about your child. My son was 7 months old when we started here. The only negative is that the infant day care is on the lower floor and there is no elevator. ( actually there is an elevator, that allows you to take a long way there, but it seems to be often in disrepair!! ) other than that , this is a perfect day care. Yes it is closed on several Jewish holidays, which coincides with the public school holidays most of the time. Don't hesitate to use this place for day care, they really care about your child. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I was very polite until I had to get her attention because she was busy on her personal phone. Yes, I was frustrated and upset and she should have noticed this but instead she told me to shut my mouth. She was incredibly rude and continued to ignore me as I tried to get information on when Lisa would be in. I cannot express enough how upset I am. I tried to call to report her behavior but no one seems to be able to take my complaint. I choose to stay anonymous in this complaint otherwise.

But my experience at the Ivy Prep Early Learning Center, at the generous invitation of Director Rachel Lunden-Carter, is among the most meaningful of my entire 32 year career at Sesame Workshop, the parent company of Sesame Street. I do get to see the results of my work from the calls, letters and ratings that come to our company from people who watch the show from generation to generation. But nothing could ever compare with the rare moments that I get to engage directly with children and see their beautiful and enthusiastic faces. Under Ms. Lunden-Carter's brilliant supervision, with the support of her stellar staff, I had the most enjoyable time of all at this school, without exaggeration. Drawing Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and Big Bird for the children provided such great moments for me. But to see how the amazing teachers took my drawings and had the children, in my eyes, outdo my own drawings with their beautiful art surrounding it, actually choked me up when I saw the results. That day started with a tour of the entire building by this exceptional director where I was able to meet the teachers and other staff members, which felt so much like I was being introduced to her family. Joyful, enthusiastic people taking their work very seriously while bringing the love and joy necessary for children to excel, especially at such very young ages. I could go on and on here, but I just want to congratulate all of the parents and caregivers who have brilliantly chosen this school as the genuine haven of early education that it is. I also congratulate Ms. Lunden-Carter for her excellence, high standards, and committed devotion to implementing such ground-breaking programs and getting the right people to help her. She is fulfilling this great and necessary mission, and doing it better than anyone else I have personally encountered wherever I have had the opportunity to visit children at school. Gratefully, Louis Henry Mitchell

Warning!!! Do not bring your child to this place if you care for the well-being of your child!…read more They did not feed my infant. When I bought up my concerns that he was not eating well, the person that handles the infants threatened to harm my child by making sure he chokes on his food. They say that they do not mix the infants with other kids and that they have highly trained and experienced employees watching your baby. Wrong. When I picked up my son, a girl that started working 2 months ago was taking care of my son. Baby was burning up in fever and the girl was not aware of it. When I questioned it. She said she had never taken care of infants. Forget about raising any concerns or problems to management. They don't respond to you and don't even apologize for how they treated my son. I don't know why I thought that something expensive means good quality. Nope not for this. This daycare was very expensive but had the worst attitude, worst customer service, and no professionalism. Worst of all was that my son was exposed to unproper care. Take your money elsewhere . Seriously!
