Charlie and his team at Precise Home Services did an amazing job on my home improvement project, which involved a new bathroom and closet and some hallway renovations to my Manayunk home. When I wanted to change the scope and details of the project, it was never a problem. Charlie and his team made it happen. This is my first home and my first major home improvement project, but the process was super smooth. I had a very small, very old, very ugly bathroom with very little utility. I also had very little closet space in my home. What I wanted to do was gut the closet and expand it into a bunch of useless extra hallway space and also into a VERY small "bedroom" that had no closets in it and turn the remaining space in that bedroom into a large walk-in master closet. I talked to probably 20+ contractors about it. Most were way too expensive, said it wasn't going to be possible to do exactly what I wanted or both. Precise was one of the few that gave me a great price and said they could bring my vision to life. Even as that vision changed a bunch during the project, Charlie and his team rolled with it and came through. Whenever I had a question, they had a great answer. Whenever there was something I hadn't thought of, they brought it to my attention and took care of whatever I wanted. And when I had no idea what I wanted, they always had a couple of great ideas for me. They even took time out in the middle of the project to go fix something in my girlfriend's house in South Philly for free. Can't beat that. There was one problem during the project where they broke some tile and damaged the tub, but they let me know about it and replaced it at their own cost. We got referred to Charlie by a friend (who has had her whole condo and new house done by Charlie) after we dealt with a really unfortunate situation with our old contractor and let that person go. I'm not a designer by trade but I have always been passionate about interior design and Charlie immediately put my mind at ease (and my husbands stress) - I trusted him the second he actually listened to what I had to say. He was open, honest, realistic, and friendly about the work he would endure and accepted our kitchen reno dreams with open arms. He is very easy to talk to, he respected our space and time and was extremely flexible with our schedule. We have a very funky house layout with tight corners and awkward steps and they managed to haul in a HUGE refrigerator and massive floor to ceiling cabinets with not a single scratch - I swear they worked magic. They are meticulous about details and sanded/painted/buffed any marks that occur with any install. They don't cut corners - literally and figuratively - they actually end cap those quarter rounds unlike some contractors :) The electricians and plumbers are fantastic too, incredibly easy to work with and we will be using them for small jobs around the house when we need them in the future. Saved the best part for last - pricing is very reasonable. It's honest and quality work for prices that are comparable to most major contractors in the Devon and Wayne area who don't do as good of a job as Charlie and his team. Not only did they capture my EXACT vision and provide guidance and advice along they way, but they did it on budget and most importantly, while I was working from home during Covid-19. We started demo before the virus went and I had plans to stay elsewhere while my shower was out of commission (2-4 wk estimate). Fast forward to mid-March and I'm forced to return home in the midst of a lockdown and I have no shower. Search no more! Charlie's your man. Ask, and you shall receive - and then some. Choosing Charlie and his team was the easiest and best decision I made in my whole home renovation process. Let me first start by saying that I will willingly admit that I am that ridiculous person that will make a spreadsheet with all the necessary facts about every decision I make in my life. You can bet your butt I did the same when looking for contractors, and Charlie is one of the best in the Philly area. First, I truly appreciated that Charlie took the time to walk around my house with me while I discussed my plans. He took his time to survey the space, digest my ideas, and chimed in every so often when he needed to be honest about feasibility and/or if he had any other comments. I appreciated the honesty and loved many of his additional suggestions! I could immediately tell that Charlie has had considerable experience with dated rowhomes, like mine. Also, he was more than willing to take on the magnitude of some of the projects, no matter how big or small. Just to give you an idea, these are some of the things they did for me: -Gutted entire first floor -Installed new flooring, framing, dry wall, kitchen cabinets, appliances, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, rug, railing, doors, molding, and trim work. -Leveled floors, supported cracked rafters, added additional support beams, added insulation, and installed some new windows. All things considered, Charlie wants to make sure you're happy with the end result, and he will keep any promise he makes. One example is my bathroom surround tile - I didn't like how dark the grout came out and the placement of the tiles. Charlie was willing to redo it, and went over everything step by step to make sure we were on the same page the second time around. Now, I'm not saying make them do it 5 times until you get something you like. I'm just saying that he's willing to work with you if it doesn't come out exactly as you had anticipated the first time. My wife and I moved into our house in June and while the kitchen had been updated, our bathrooms continued to resemble something you'd find in an early 90's Holiday Inn. We desperately needed an update, but knew that we couldn't afford to write a blank check. We decided that if we were going to remodel it would need to be with the right contractor, one who would understand our needs and work with us accordingly. Google led me to Charlie and his contracting business, Precise Home Services. Though we were leery of internet advertisements and entrusting our money and our house to an unknown entity, the pristine reviews and attractive handiwork in the photos led us to a a meeting with Charlie at our house. Charlie immediate put us at ease as he shared his knowledge and innovative ideas effortlessly. For every home-based question we had asked he offered not only specific answers, but also educated us about questions we didn't even know to ask. After working with us for weeks and discussing various options, all the while guiding us through an unfamiliar land, Charlie arrived at a final cost estimate that put our modest budget into more realistic terms with what we wanted to accomplish without putting us into a position where we had to rethink our contractor choice or our remodel entirely. It did take some time to arrive at an agreed upon start date, which seemed to be related to a multitude of projects all beginning at the same time. Nevertheless, Charlie was able to work with us and expedite our remodel. Ultimately, it was estimated that start to finish would take about two weeks. As I understand is common with these undertakings, two weeks turned into three weeks before our project was complete, which was hardly an inconvenient extension. While we were initially concerned with having strangers in our house for several weeks (with our crazy dog, no less), all of the contractors working with Charlie were not only impeccably professional and pleasant in every way, but went out of their way to be kind to our dog despite her infinite energy (and anxiety). Mark and Mike spent the most time at our house, and by the end of our renovation their presence seemed as natural as any of our friends and family. Like Charlie, they too had much knowledge and experience. Their work was attractive and professional in appearance in every way. While our project stretched on an extra week, the bathrooms were finally completed. Initially we were hyper aware of our new bathrooms and there were some areas that seemed slightly unfinished. A simple text to Mark had him out to our house within a day to address all of our minor nitpicking. Furthermore, he insisted that if anything should ever be not to our liking or should malfunction in any way (not that this was expected) he would be a phone call away. Even along the project itself if we had any concerns with alignment or installation of fixtures, they had no qualms putting in extra work to have the amenities to our exact liking. We had met with many kitchen specific contractors and gotten prices that were all over the place, layouts that we didn't like, and things that just seemed too over the top for us. I actually found Charlie and his crew through word of mouth, but looked for reviews all over before going with them and couldn't find anything bad. Charlie is a no-nonsense dude. I really liked him, because he told us exactly what he thought would work, and what wouldn't. We had a couple ideas, but for the most part were clueless about what goes into renovating a kitchen. He walked us through the process, albeit a little quickly, and guided us towards the renovation we were looking for. Something that I really appreciated about him was that if we had an idea that wasn't worth the cost, he let us know, and explained why. I really appreciated that, because other contractors never explained the complexities of certain features that we were asking for. The workers they brought in were all courteous and respectful of our house, and friendly towards us. They only made a little mess, nothing more than what I was expecting. It was also very apparent that Charlie knew the whole crew, and had used them time and time again. The only complaint I had was that at times, it seemed there was a bit of a communication disconnect. As in - we had ordered cabinets with glass windows, the ones that were installed didn't have them. This was an easy fix, as the other doors were delivered as well and were put on during the next day. There was also the unfortunate incident of losing our keys. They did re-key our locks, however, our door is very old and difficult to re-key, and after I noticed them cutting into the door to install new locks, I opted to finish this job myself, with the help of my uncle (who is a locksmith). They were very courteous and apologetic about this. All in all, the kitchen was renovated to our specifications. Charlie is a man of his word, and everything that he said would get finished did get finished. They returned quickly when we noticed things that had been forgotten. Charlie met with us several times to assess the situation and gave us solid advice on how to proceed. This was more than just a roof leak - it turned into a pretty significant job involving a complete redo of our pilot house with new windows, doors, stucco, etc. Charlie and team made the whole process incredibly smooth and communication was tight. With Jerry and Josh managing the day-to-day progress, we were always updated and aware of what was going on. The work did last longer than estimated, but there were never any surprises or lapses in communication - a lot of the delays were weather-related. UGH! I have had the worst experience EVER trying to find a quality contractor here in the Gritty City of Philly. I've lost count of how many contractors have been over to assess a job and provide an estimate only to lose interest when they quickly realize that I'm not buying into their upsell tactics of services I haven't asked for. Okay, I digress. Based on the rave reviews for Precise I had hopes that this company would be the glowing light at the end of the tunnel. Instead, it was more like the blinding light in the bend of the sewage canal. Charles was slow to respond to my email requests, contacting me after 4 days. It was only after I had reached out, that I realized I had contacted Precise earlier in the year for another project, only to not have anyone followup with me. If I had remembered, I would have probably chosen to take my chances with the eager prospects that hang out in the HD parking lot on the Blvd. Charles finally replied to my email to arrange a date to stop by. I was very clear about the jobs that I needed completed. When Charles arrived he was seemingly nice. Once in the kitchen, I explained the project again. As I am speaking, I notice him looking at the cabinets. He begins his pitch by opening the cabinets and peering in them like the Leprechaun looking for gold, repeatedly asking, "Are these Ikea"? Twice I respond that I'm not sure beacuse I recently purchased the home, but that they were fine for me. Again he asked. Now annoyed, I reply, "I'm not sure, but I'm going to keep them". We move on to discuss the work I actually want, but at that point I could sense his disintrest, now that it has dawned on him that I'm not planning to replace the cabinets or consider a more expensive flooring option than the one I've already selected. After the cancelled episode, we quickly wrapped up. Nonetheless, as Charles was leaving he stated that he would provide an estimate to me within 2-3 days. I followed up with him on day 4. Not only did Charlie provide a thorough estimated contract, but he and Jerry were flexible with changes and followed up on all of our concerns. We began with the renovation of two bathrooms and added a half bath near the end of the project. They folded the 1/2 bath seamlessly into the plan, and Geoff was at our house after 4:30 on many an evening, wrapping up details and organizing the site. When the painting of the top two floors was shoddy, they turned around and had it repainted immediately.
