We leveraged the inspector search on the American Society of Home Inspectors website to find Chris Matteson of Accurate Home and Termite Inspections. Since we were purchasing a new construction townhouse with a mortgage guaranteed by the VA we wanted an inspector with this background, after additional research we determined Chris was the right fit for our home inspection. Chris conducted our home inspection nine days prior to closing which was after the VA appraisal. He was very thorough in his inspection and presented all the information in a clear and concise way. He also took the time to address every question or thought from us in a friendly and informative manner. Chris' report was detailed and self explanatory with pictures. His report identified 11 items we addressed with the builders agent. In addition Chris was unable to confirm the installation of upgrades (i.e., air filtration system) during his inspection. During our walkthrough the day before closing it appeared the builder resolved the items from inspection; however, we hired Chris to confirm. Chris came back a few days after our settlement to perform a Radon test and inspect the previously identified items. We received an abbreviated report regarding the items that had not been completely addressed by the builder and a comprehensive radon report. I highly recommend Chris without any hesitation. He was so easy to work with and provided absolutely outstanding service! He is very professional, understanding, cooperative and mostly knowledgeable.

I have two radon meters in my basement that read higher than the 4.0 you guarantee and yet your company won't come out or even call me back to discuss it!!!!! These monitor read constantly not just the one time crapy test you give. My basement has two foundations and you all screwed up by only putting one system in that is not doing it job and yet you can't even make it right. My real estate agent had highly recommended him. Frist off, let me start with the brick because this sets the tone for the believability of the rest of his response and was the first thing we saw upon arrival. I have pictures showing the missing brick. Even my real estate agent who was there was surprised he missed it. We both saw it before he had arrived. I am not a trained inspector but saw it. It was not surface damage, it was a deep hole were there used to be a brick! I pointed it out to him and he said it's in the report. I had a copy of the report there which we all looked at to see if it was in and there was no mention of it. So he said it is a easy fix and I said I don't do that kind of work and would have to call a mason. He said in his response there is no missing brick. In a way that is calling me and the agent liars So judge the rest of his responses based on that. I have pictures of every item he missed that I mentioned in the previous post, I just cant figure out how to display them here. Maybe I can put them on Facebook with a link to here? The conversation with the real estate agent afterwards was interesting. She was really embarrassed at what happened and told me Don is usually much better than this. She saw everything that we saw and agreed that many things were missed. She was the one who arranged to meet at the house with Don to ease my misgivings about the thoroughness of the inspection. So glad she did. She told me I should be entitled to a refund for the inspection or at least part of it. If this company would have been honorable they would have given me back part of my money, but then I would have never posted anything and you would not now be hearing about it. I trusted them because I lived out of state. The corporate office did call me back after I contacted them but said it was up to the local francize owner to address these issues. The company we used for the next house was great. The Virtus Group. They didn't miss anything and caught stuff I would have never known about. Going from a list of missing items to zero!
