In the past four years I have had THREE different companies come and charge me a good deal of money (i.e. $750.00; $950.00 and $1500.00 respectively) and did not eradicate the problem at all. The first time was three years ago and the squirrels did stay gone for a while but they were back this Thanksgiving when the last two services were employed and did nothing except take my money. Richard Varney did things differently than any of these other companies and that is why he is the best. What he didn't do was just stick a trap up on the roof and expect the squirrels to waltz in it after a few days but no longer than five . . . Both companies said they would seal the holes so there would be no way the squirrels could get back in and both were wrong - they did. Richard came to my house, every day, for over three weeks before he was sure they were out and gone. He trapped the adults but there were still babies. He is the only one I know that put foam in the holes first . . . and then waited to see if it remained or was pushed out - indicating that there was still activity. He built a rest for a trap on the side of the house, because that was where it was needed. He is also the nicest, kindest man I've met in this business. I was devastated when the previous company allowed a trapped squirrel to die of exposure on my roof during a severe rainstorm. I called and asked them to please come and get it before it died, and they said, "All their technicians had gone home" . . . and it died a horrible, slow death. Richard was just the opposite. As soon as I texted him that there was a squirrel in the trap, he was on his way over. He cares about both his clients and the animals he needs to trap. It seemed he understood the urgency of my families financial crisis. He appeared to our home with Bruce Hackett, his father in-law, and the State Lead Abatement Trainer, to do a walk through and sell the job, which gave him another layer of legitimacy. We hired them. We paid the 1/2 of the total bid cost up front, per his contract, and against the State of Maine Attorney Generals law to only pay 1/3 of contracts above $3000. After a week he and his worker appeared and in three weeks only worked 1 full day and two half days. So many reasons why they could not appear consistently: "We are waiting on our suits to arrive"; "My worker and his girlfriend broke up and he's stuck in MA"; "My worker caught RSV and is in the emergency room"; "I need to leave early to attend my daughter's PTC". They scraped one side of the house and stated it was paint ready, but paint chips were still falling off. No. We decided to end our "working" relationship then. C10 Abatement's work ethic and practices are substandard quality. We asked them to return the money minus $4k to be generous enough to get money back. None. He ghosted us. DO NOT HIRE C10 Abatement. My wife is beyond stressed and having panic attacks, and our 2 year old daughter is suffering as a result. DO NOT HIRE!!!
