Overall this place was a total fail. First, the girl Michelle who answers the phone is a terrible person. She's rude and inconsiderate. Second, I was told 4 weeks recovery when another doctor stated that was a completely unrealistic expectation. Third, I was supposed to be notified if a machine could heal my bone quicker (never heard back.) Finally, was concerned my foot could have an infection or the blood flow was constricted. Never gave me an answer or cared to see me in person about it. Seeing a new doctor and already loving it. Would not recommend. read more

My second interaction with Dr Cohen at Precision Podiatry has been flawless. The staff works as a cohesive team and are always very friendly and put the patients at ease. Each member of the team knows exactly what they need to do and make the process seamless. Norma, the insurance/surgical coordinator, is a straight-up wizard at getting the insurance companies to cooperate and, therefore, removes the stress of having to 'deal' with any insurance issues that might arise for the patients. Dr. Cohen is the absolute icing on the cake-his bedside manner is unbeatable, and his skill is second to none. If you have any problems with your feet, you absolutely need to contact these folks. I can't say enough amazing things about Dr. Shock at Precision Podiatry. I have had issues with my feet my entire life and am a nurse, so I've also battled Plantar Fasciitis and Bursitis and Dr. Shock helped me fully recover! I've also had a number of ingrown toenail procedures, both here and at other places. Dr. Shock made it virtually pain free, including the injections to numb the toe. I will never go anywhere else! Dr. Smedley is awesome. His medical assistant is also awesome. The office staff is fantastic. I was on short-term disability and Ashley took care of everything. I would highly recommend them. I went to another podiatrist and I got the feeling that all he wanted to do was make money he always overbooked. I was not happy with him. My surgery did not turn out well with the first podiatrist. Dr. Smedley was Great. I've absolutely no complaints. I had a cadaver tendon put in my foot and he cut a wedge out of my heel and put three screws in . the recovery was long, but he warned me that it would be the other one didn't he told me 4 to 6 weeks, and I walked on it too soon and messed it up. I have nothing but positive to say about Dr. Cohen and his team. I began seeing hike three years ago as a result of issues with my feet. He has helped with both issues on my right and left foot. When I originally saw him three years ago I was having some post operative pain following an ankle fusion done by a doctor in another city. He prescribed a non invasive approach to stabilize my foot and leg area. I wore the casting mostly at night for about six months. It completely addressed my issue and now I'm pain free. Six months ago I returned following shooting pain in my right leg/foot. Within about five minutes of seeing him he diagnosed the issue. To be sure that was indeed the issue I was x-rayed in his office. Again we tried a non invasive approach with a walking cast for 4 weeks. The pain persisted and additional tests performed. In the end I needed surgery. Surgery was scheduled and his staff was great in working with me to get the details taken care of. I am not two months post op. He has been great throughout. Listening to me and working with me to meet my needs. I couldn't have wished for a better doctor to work with. I recommend Dr. Cohen without hesitation. read more

This doctor seems to be going downhill. I've been a patient of Dr. Cohen's for several years now, and I always thought he was excellent until today. Friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, nice office staff, but today was a genuinely terrible experience. Where he once had a nice, spacious office, I was told to see him today in a cheap, rundown office with a waiting room smaller than my bathroom. Every chair was filled, and people were left standing up. I waited over 30 minutes before going to the front desk and asking how much longer it would be. They said they didn't know, so I said I would leave and reschedule, because I had to get back to work. Only then was I called. When I went back to the room, the nurse told me it would be a little longer because a different nurse needed to take my information. I told her I needed to get back to work, and if the doctor couldn't be there within five minutes, I would leave and reschedule. She frowned, disappeared, and Dr. Cohen came walking in immediately. I didn't raise my voice or say anything disrespectful in the slightest, but he was visibly irritated and proceeded to grab my foot and trim my ingrown toenail with nothing for pain while I was wincing and saying, "Oww, that hurts!" As he was preparing to leave, I said, "One other thing... what's going on today? Are you running behind?" He walked out the door, didn't turn around, and said, "Yep, it's that time of year. If you don't like it, find another doctor who is less busy," and then walked into the room of the next patient. Up until that point, I was willing to chalk it up to a bad day and give him another chance, given my positive past history, but it felt like he was basically telling me to go to hell. I felt immensely disrespected. Even on my worst day, I've never treated another human being that way, especially not at work. So, I gathered up my things and quietly left without saying another word. Reading this, you might be tempted to believe, "Well, he's probably just a problem client who causes a scene for no reason and doesn't pay his bills." But that's not true. I pay every bill in full at the time of the visit, I'm always polite, I'm very quiet, and I've always been respectful. I have no idea why Dr. Cohen acted so terribly, and I was stunned to see his attitude change so much. He was like a different person. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be a doctor, but no one deserves to be treated like I was today. If I can be on time, so can he. If there is another patient who needs attention and causes him to be late, he can at least apologize or offer to let me reschedule. If he's angry, he should never come in and begin a medical procedure with complete disregard for anything I say. And I should never be told, "If you don't like it, find another doctor." That kind of attitude is simply unacceptable. read more

Run away don't walk away if you are even considering using Dr. Jon Smedley for foot surgery. Dr. Smedley was recommended to me by Dr. Gary Prant who I had been a patient of for minor foot maladies. Trusting Dr. Prant I did not question his recommendation and made an appointment to be seen by Dr. Smedley. The first clue should have been having to wait an hour to be seen. But once I got in, Dr. Smedley was personable, so I booked surgery for a bunionectomy and two hammer toes surgery on my right foot. Surgery performed December 2016. From the very first post op appointment I told both Dr. Smedley and his assistant, Jackie, I was in pain as well as the second toe was at an angle that as such was pushing against my big toe. They gave me a form with straps to bind the two toes that had been operated on together to see if they would realign. I came back two weeks later in which Dr. Smedley, while taking an x-ray but not an MRI or CAT scan diagnosed my issue as Morton's Neuroma and proceeded to give me a cortisone shot in my right foot. Two weeks later I returned again in pain and was given another cortisone shot without any further diagnostic review. The receptionist when checking out inquired if I wanted to make a third post appointment to which I declined. Especially since on both post op appointments I had to again wait an hour to be seen. June 2017 the pain was shooting up my leg. This time I did my own personal due diligence checking reviews on YELP. What was discovered by the physician was that the apparatus installed for the bunion was too long in a certain spot and was poking into a cluster of nerves. The second hammer toe was at an angle that had caused a ligament tear. And due to the excruciating pain I had developed a way of walking that resulted in a stress fracture. September 2017 I underwent foot surgery to repair everything that was wrong with the surgery performed by Dr. Smedley. I contacted Dr. Prant since he was the physician who recommended Dr. Smedley requesting he serve as a go-between as I felt it appropriate to seek reimbursement from Dr. Smedley of my out of pocket expenses due to having to undergo a second surgery to correct my foot issues. Dr. Prant spoke with Dr. Smedley and they conferred that "the second toe is very difficult to operate on," they had reviewed the operating notes and felt that there was no reason for Dr. Smedley to assume responsibility. November 2017 I wrote a detailed email to Dr. Smedley providing him with supporting documentation requesting his consideration of reimbursing me for the $1425 I was out of pocket on the re-do surgery. Never heard a word. December 2017 I called Dr. Smedley's office leaving a message that it was a personal matter but I would appreciate the consideration of Dr. Smedley returning my call. I had a very different experience with Doctor Cohen . Maybe because previously the other podiatrist I went to see had a beautiful office but lousy service. This Podiatrist took the time to evaluate me and understood my pain under my feet . Honestly I recommend him even if the place May be smaller it's the service that counts for me. Outstanding care with Dr Smedley doing surgery on both my feet for bunions. The Dr and staff are extremely professional and really dedicate themselves. I do not mind the wait, I realize he is seeing a lot of patients and he takes time with each of them. When seeing a physician you need to realize that each patient takes a different amount of time to see, this causes delays, but when it is your turn you will expect the same time with him as well. Late last month, I was referred to this group for a chronic issue by my internist. They come highly recommended, and it appears many of their patients have been extremely happy with the care they have received. Over the past 2 weeks, I've left 3 separate messages to schedule an appointment (there wasn't an option to hold to speak with someone). I have yet to receive a return call. If it's that difficult to schedule, I'm concerned about their ability to return my call when I have a clinical need. I'll be asking for a referral to a different provider. read more

Dr. Cohen is the BEST!!! I just had bunionette surgery on my left foot a little over a week ago and I am so happy with my results so far. My pinky toe is straighter than I originally imagined. I will of course use Dr. Cohen again for my right foot later this year. I originally saw Dr. Cohen in 2015 when he did my DOUBLE bunion surgery. I was so impressed with the results and no longer experience pain because of his amazing surgical skills. What's impressive is he's not only an amazing surgeon he's got GREAT bedside manner. He takes the time to get to you know you and he truly cares about his patients. He's such a warm and sweet doctor that I would never see another podiatrist. Both my wife and I saw Dr. Cohen for separate issues. He recommended surgery for our conditions. We both went to 2 different orthopedic surgeons for a second opinion. The opinion my wife obtained indicated the surgery Dr. Cohen was recommending would do more harm than good. The opinion I obtained indicated under no circumstances should I have surgery. The doctor told me to change a particular shoe I was wearing which has resulted in the condition improving tremendously. A great lesson, always obtain a second opinion when surgery is recommended and stay far away from Dr. Cohen!!!! read more

To begin, I was charged the wrong co pay. Next they took me back late when I had even arrived 20 min in advance to fill out paperwork. I was sat down and a nurse told me all about how my wart procedure was going to be very painful and that the DR I had chosen doesn't do it the same way as the other DR and that most people prefer him (very unsettling). I realized while waiting for the DR that no one ever took my vitals. The DR came in. She promoted some deal to me for a pair of prescription shoes (of which I really don't need for a wart). She gave me three options for removal but was very adamant about one single one of which she explained as a "high velocity shot" or something scary. She told me it was chemotherapeutic but made it sound normal and as if there was nothing to worry about. She injected my heel with lydocane and proceeded to inject the chemotherapeutic drug directly after and before the lydocane even had time to numb my foot... Then I began to worry because I have a history of high blood pressure when I'm in doctors offices and was fretting if my body could react with the chemo shot. Next the nurse came in and applied a pad to my foot of which she said was extremely sticky and I needed to choose where I wanted it because it would stay for a long time. She then told me I should 'duct tape' it on when I got home...I guess medical tape isn't a thing anymore??? As I was walking out now with a numb foot because the lydocane set in my 'Really sticky' pad fell off onto the floor. The nurse proceeded to pick up the used and now contaminated pad and re stick it to the bottom of my foot.. As if they couldn't afford to grab me a new one?? As soon as I got home I realized they never prescribed me any pain meds or topical ointments or told me how to clean my wound. I realized I was never even told the name of the drug being put into my foot. I found out that it is called Bleomycin and from what I could read it IS NOT FDA approved for wart treatment.... But I was never told this?? So I called and asked for them to please send me a summary of my visit and any after care instructions. I never received them so I called again only to be put on hold, hung up on, and never re contacted. Needless to say I don't recommend this place. read more

I was referred to Brenda and Jeff Cohen (both Podiatrists) and am extremely pleased with my visit there. I was given an appointment quickly, had a confirmation call the day before, waited less than 10 minutes in the lobby and saw a nurse and then the doctor less than 10 minutes after that. They quickly figured out the problem with my toe, gave me my options, and had me under the knife to remove the nail in just a few minutes (although I didn't feel rushed, it was just very straightforward). 5 minutes later I'm less one annoying toenail and out the door with the antibiotics and instructions I needed and a followup appointment two weeks later. The entire time I was treated with respect and friendliness, they were very professional, very knowledgeable and wasted no time with endless delays or waits. I had no idea you could get that sort of minor surgery done with such little fuss (and affordably, too). All in all, they are excellent podiatrists and would highly recommend them. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Jeffrey Cohen for about 17 years and have had a few surgical procedures done. Dr. Cohen first errs on the side of least invasive treatments before performing surgeries. I have seen many podiatrist in the San Antonio and Austin areas over the last 40 years and finally was referred by another podiatrist in Austin to Dr. Cohen. Even though I have to travel over 52 miles one way for treatment it is well worth it to have a doctor who can be trusted and knows what he is doing than find a less experienced doctor who can't perform the necessary procedures. Dr. Cohen has given me a new lease on mobility and has kept me walking and functional. Dr. Cohen and his staff are very courteous and professional. I recommend his services to anyone I know needing podiatry care and treatment. read more

Dr. Shock is great. I came to him with a very sore and swollen hammer toe due to torn tendons. He gave me some steroid shots and showed me how to wrap my toe and the pain is gone and I'm able to continue my everyday activities. I went to Dr. Shock to get a 2nd opinion on the bunions I have. He was VERY straight forward and up front about everything. He explained to me why I needed surgery and walked me through the entire process. I was scared/nervous about the surgery and he really helped to put my mind at ease. I am currently recovering post 2 weeks from the bunion surgery he did and I can honestly say he did an amazing job. He is very down to earth as well. After receiving an incorrect diagnosis from another podiatrist, I was referred to Dr. Cohen who diagnosed correctly. He suggested I have surgery sooner rather than later. After waiting 6 months, I scheduled the surgery. Terrific job. It's been 2.5 weeks and I'm walking with 90% efficiency and expect a full recovery within the next month that corrects a problem I've had for 8+ years. I'm very satisfied and recommend. Dr. Shock and the staff at Precision Podiatry did a fantastic job at getting me through two bunionectomies within 3 weeks. My feet look great. I was able to swim within a little over one week after each surgery which helped to keep me sane, since exercising is my release. They were able to answer questions throughout the process and eased any stress or fear that I had. Dr. Shock gave me other options which I tried before seeking the surgery route, but my feet needed more drastic assistance. Previous to the bunionectomies, Dr. Shock treated me for ingrown toe nails. What a relief not to feel pain. I was exercising that night after my toe nails were fixed! After a nine months I have had issues with the Taylor bunion removal and have had to seek other assistance. read more

I wasn't very impressed. I was referred by my primary physician for metatarsalgia. Having been to a podiatrist before, I knew to bring all the shoes I usually wear so they can see what's going on. I only saw Dr. Brenda Cohen for less than a minute before she pronounced that I had diabetic neuropathy and just needed some orthotics. To be sure, they took X-rays of my feet and said they looked fine. When I tried to explain the pain, she asked me why I thought I might have metatarsalgia and I told her how I researched the issue. She was kind of condescending when she implied that I shouldn't rely on "Dr. Google". Bottom line, I went in expecting to pay my Specialist copay and came out paying more than double feeling like my concerns really weren't addressed. I'm sure other patients have had better experiences and maybe it's just me, but I'm on the fence as to whether I'll go back for the orthotics. read more

I had trauma to my toe. I went to an urgent care and it was too severe for them to handle and wanted me to see a podiatrist for a medical complication. Was referred to Dr. Smedley. Called Thursday - left message. No one ever called back. Called this morning, found out doctor was not even in town. Would have been nice to get a return call. I think this is very unprofessional. Waiting over the weekend with a trauma, that appears infected an urgent care couldn't handle doesn't seem like a wise idea. read more

My daughter went in for a follow up visit 2 days ago. We arrived at our appt 15 minutes early then proceeded to wait for 1 hour (45 minutes after our appt) until we were called. THEN we waited for another 15 in the waiting room. Finally I poked my head out and Dr. Cohen was coming out of the room across the hall and said he had an emergency and would be right with us. I explained that a heads up they were running late would be nice. He just walked away from me talking outloud that (and passive aggressively) that "I'm sure the patient that had an emergency would be thankful that you are understanding". Anyways, he comes into our room to see my 12 year old daughter. He doesn't address me, doesn't look at me....nothing for about 2 minutes. I just sat back and watched in amazement. I finally asked him a question. Without giving details of my daughters injury, he replied "I'm not sure what is going on, but lets leave her in the walking boot for another 3 weeks and see if it goes away. Otherwise I'm going to have to order a very expensive MRI". Hey Doc, I have insurance and I can afford to run tests. Don't talk down to me. Anyways he started leaving and I let him know that we are busy too and would appreciate notice that they are running way behind. I can reschedule or at least make plans to stay. Again, he just started walking away from me talking loudly but not giving me the courtesy of talking to my face. Evidently a random person without an appt walked into his office to have an infection drained. Isn't this what Urgent care is for???? So the big emergency was this non-patient without an appt. So he continues to passive aggressively talk down to me as he is walking away. Needless to say there is NO WAY I will return to this joke of a practice. I would stay far away from this Joke of a Dr. who has zero communication ability/skills. read more

Dr. Cohen is the absolute BEST !!!! Can not say enought great things about Dr. Cohen & his entire staff. My 9 year old son stubbed his toe a year ago. We thought he had a wart on the tip of his toe & had it removed at at dermatologist office. After it healed it still did not look right to us, we took him to Dr Cohen. Problem diagnosed first visit, with great explanation & detail. Turns out it was a bone tumor (benign) caused by trauma. If left on his toe would contine to grow... Dr. Cohen was patient, very detailed,and honest. He completely put my son ( & both my husband & I ) at ease. The surgery was on June 26( by the way Dr. Cohen called us at home to check on my son on the weekend...huge bonus points in my book!) Now on July 23rd he has no restrictions he can swim, ride bike, etc !! Toe looks great & the nail already looks like it is growing back. I stopped by today to deal with a billing issue- they handled it quickly & professionally- we had an appt set for Tues I asked if we could have it today instead & the front desk ladies were super accomodating & worked us in...have not been so impressed in a very long time with a business or doctor's office !! read more

Terrible! I saw their add for toenail fungus in the community impact newspaper for a "free consultation". I made and appointment for a toenail curling due to fungus. The doctor seemed nice, said I could do several things but the only thing to rid was his laser treatment. I explained that I would prefer to try the cheapest option first and if that didn't work then proceed with laser, his recommendation was to put myself in debt for the laser treatment, even after I explained I was about to have laproscopic surgery. I went home check the ad to make sure I read it right and called the next day asking why I paid a copay when the ad clearly states "Free Consultation". They tried to tell me it was only for laser and that I had told them I was coming in for hammer toe. I don't even know what the heck hammer toe is! I explained that all the doctor really talked about was the laser. She said she would have the office manager call me back. Two days later I call back because I had yet to get a phone call and the office manager was highly unprofessional and had no customer service skills what-so-ever. She said since he gave me forms to do blood work "in case" I wanted to do one of the treatments then it was consider a "new patient" exam and not a consultation and that their consultations were only a few minutes long. I explained that the doctor only spent a few minutes with me. I told her that their ad was misleading, all I saw was "Got toenail fungus? We can help! Call today for a free consultation." It stated nowhere that it was specific to the laser and that you had to state that when you made the appointment. She argued with me some more and I finally just told her that they lost business from me and I wouldn't be recommending them and she said "that's fine". I then told her if that was how she felt then to expect a yelp and google review as well and she said "okay, thank you!" Wow, so unprofessional. Don't go there unless you want to get screwed. read more
