Less than 6 months after I purchased one of their "certified" used cars, I brought it in to have 2 issues checked. I was told it was going to be $85 to have it looked at... when I picked my vehicle up after they had called and stated it needed approximately $2,000 of work, the proceeded to charge me $173 for looking at it. They neglected to specify that it would be $85 PER ISSUE!! This is a CERTIFIED pre-owned vehicle from them!!! I had a terrible first impression of the service center. To start, I had a transmission problem early in the morning one day and my newer (2020) vehicle would not go in to gear. I received an email from OnStar about servicing my vehicle for a transmission issue within 1 day. I called Preferred as soon as they opened and scheduled an appointment to drop off my vehicle for them to look at the same day (So far, so good). I bring my vehicle in that afternoon and they say they'll call me and let me know the status. Well, I waited for 3 or 4 hours (Because now it's getting late) before reaching out to the person that texted me (He said I could call or text anytime I had a question) and they don't get back to me. So I call the service center general phone number and they don't even have a record that I brought my vehicle in (This is at least 4 hours later) and tell me they'll call me back. When they call me back they talk about my "2003" vehicle. I tell them I have a 2020. They say "Oh, well we want to keep it overnight and try it out in the morning." So, here I am in the evening with them telling me at the last minute that they're keeping my vehicle overnight because they want to test it in the morning. They didn't even have a record of me checking it in and now they're probably lying to me because they didn't even know my vehicle was there. I have to try and figure out transportation for work the next day at the last minute. Now, they tell me they'll call me in the morning with an update. The next day, they never called in the morning and I had to call them after 2pm. They said they'd call me back. I wait again and then they text me to tell me there isn't anything wrong with my truck and that "Sometimes it shifts harder in the cold." I tell them that I even received an email from OnStar about a transmission issue and then the guy tell me, "Oh, it should be fine." Meanwhile, I have been reading on these Chevy forums about how bad the transmissions are on these vehicles (Silverados) and apparently, according to them, mine is fine (Even though it wouldn't go into gear and is only a year old). Well, due to the lack of communication with this company, I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. I would have liked to keep it local, but the poor service is going to keep me away. Maybe they're usually good, but my first impression was terrible. I am not sure why service industries are getting so poor in dealing with people, but Preferred is definitely not the only place. It's really unfortunate, but I definitely want others to know my experience so hopefully they can think about where they want to bring their vehicle. Dropped vehicle off Monday morning at 9am (time of appointment) for service (fluid flush), was told the service would be about 3 hours. After no update all day I stop at 6pm and was told they "haven't started on it yet" and if I wanted to leave it over night it may not be done until Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. Maybe they do great work, maybe they don't...if you have 3-5 business days for 3hours of work you can find out for yourself read more

The buying experience was poor the first car they showed us had a rusted out frame and was horribly welded up. They then showed us another car and during the test drive the shifter failed and we couldn't get it back into park. We finally made an agreement for them to fix it if we bought it and signed the purchase agreement. They said the parts were on back order and it would take some time to fix it so we just drove it like that for 6 months when the transmission completely locked up and it took me days of calling and leaving voice-mails for them to get ahold of me. When they finally got back to me I made it clear the car was not drivable and they still sent someone to try driving it. When he saw that it was locked up he started leaning on the shifter and bent it and asked me for a hammer. I will never buy another car from this company again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After working with the owner Chuck he said he wanted to make things right and would have his employee get in touch with me but, after a week went by I still never got a call and I called Chuck again and apparently he was told that someone did call me. He finally was able to get someone to call me and after I asked my question I was told he didn't know and he would call me back. Once again a week went by and no one called me back and I called Chuck and he was able to get someone to call me and I was offered to cancel my service with them and now they want to charge me a cancelation fee on top of prorating the money I paid them. All this is over them telling me that all the electronics would be covered and now that I want to use it all of a sudden it doesn't cover electronics. Don't do business with Preferred. Don't do business with Brent. And don't trust Chuck when he says he will do something. read more

BUYER BE WARE! WARNING: TO ALL G/M CUSTOMERS AND FUTURE CUSTOMERS WITH "MAGNETIC RIDE CONTROL" SHOCK ASBORBERS! Regardless of what the GM Dealership staff says, most Cadillac, Tahoe, and 1500 Denali trucks DONOT HAVE STRUTS. Most have "Magnet Ride Control" systems that are modified shock absorbers. Ask your dealer for the part number of your Magnet Ride Control shock absorber. The box states "Shock Absorber". The manufacturer of these shock absorbers indicates they last between 37,000 to 50,000+ miles before they start to leak. When they leak you have to replace them. Dealerships have charged $2,500 to replace the front shocks and $2,000 to replace the rear shocks. After 50,000 your GM warranty doesn't cover the replacement. Some dealerships will. If they do, you're lucky. READ your warranty carefully. Most will say "Struts" are covered, shocks are not. Ninety-five percent of after-market warranties will not cover the replacement of these shocks. By the way, the cost to replace regular front shock absorbers is about $300. The advantage of these $2,500 shocks is they provide a better ride than the regular shocks. They actually do. Problem is: Are you willing to replace the expensive shocks with your own money. If you are great; enjoy your comfortable ride. You may want to start saving to pay for the replacements now. If not, look for a vehicle that has regular shocks. read more

***BUYER BEWARE*** Although they got me approved for financing with bad credit and a temp job, they sold me a van that stalls without warning and claim there is nothing wrong. I have been in contact with Robert Corbett, Bryan Speck and Tony Franklin. Tony Franklin has NO customer service skills. Very rude, very condescending. Their "buyers guarantee" does not apply if they sell you a piece of junk and you have bad credit. If I could rate zero stars I would. Bryan Speck tried to tell me the price of the vehicle was based on my credit score! I know my payments are but the price of a vehicle is the price if a vehicle, my credit doesnt change that. He also told me "the GPS unit costs money to control it" so im paying a total of $3500 ($2500 for the vehicle and $1000 interest) for a vehicle that sits in my driveway. Don't waste your time with this place! Called to make an appointment to have a vehicle scanned for a check engine light, told the girl I talked to very specifically what the year and model was repeatedly. Got to the dealer and was told that they couldn't get it up on the lift to scan it?????. All you need to do to scan a vehicle is plug the scan tool into the OBD port under the dash. I called back and talked to a rude service writer guy. AVOID this place. read more

I own a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus model. My wife and I recently found out our daycare provider is closing within weeks unexpectedly and I immediately decided to downgrade my vehicle to free up money. I inquired about a Chevy Bolt and received an email from a Salesman named "Buck". He informed me the Bolt still had an open recall, but that they could still sell the vehicle to me. I explained my situation and he asked me to send my information to him and he would "get to work" for me. My Tesla has 30k miles on it and is in excellent condition. KBB trade in value is between 41k low end and 43k high end. Buck texts me back and says "We're looking at about 36k best offer for your vehicle". Huh?! All the while, they listed the Bolt at the top end of KBB pricing, while it had a recall on the battery modules. This is the good ole boy disgusting strategy that is turning away more and more folks from trusting dealers. Meanwhile I have since received trade in offers of over 41k from both Carvana and Vroom. I shared the screen shot of other offers I received along with KBB values for my vehicle, and the salesman never texted me back. Absolutely 100% lack of professionalism all the way around. These folks are only looking gouging people on both the sales price and trade in. Avoid these folks like the plague. read more

Preferred Auto would prefer to sell you Debt more so than they would prefer to sell you a vehicle. They wasted much of my valuable time. I do not recommend. They offered $28K on my trade in with them having potential of making $5000-$10000 which I accepted (my lose). They offered me GM Employee pricing which I certainly accepted. However when I mentioned I would be paying cash for the remainder of the balance they quickly treated me as unwanted business and would no longer honor the price. read more

HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, most UNPROFESSIONAL group of people I have EVER dealt with. WORST vehicle purchasing experience in my life!!!! I first bought a vehicle that had issues so I returned it only to have the 2nd vehicle have issues as well. The salesman I was working with was fired so I had no response to my calls, texts,& voicemails. After the 1st review I wrote the used car manager, Brian, who was very unfriendly & didn't return calls asked me to delete it so he could make things right, so I did. I only had the vehicle for about a week when I had to drop it off for the service to be done. Mark in service was rude as he NEVER even spoke one word to me while I waited to check the vehicle in. I was told I would get a call to update me which never happened. I had to repeatedly call to find out what was going on. The people who answers the phone is just as unfriendly. Needless to say, Mark never called & went on vacation. Drew said he'd return my calls and again didn't bother. I left a message for the service manager who was rude & unhelpful. I also left a message for Brian again without any response. When I did FINALLY get my vehicle back after a week, all I asked for was my gas tank to be filled when they dropped it off since I have made my loan payment but couldn't even drive it since I got it. You will be shocked to know that they didn't bother to do that as a courtesy for the crappy a$$ service I have received, nor did I even get an apology for all of this mess!!!! This place is a joke & the employees are HORRIBLE!!! I definitely wouldn't recommend this dealership when there are so many better places to go to. They don't care about their customers at all!!! To start with they are overpriced, recemented things that are not needed and do poor workmanship. You would think after spending in excess of 15K they would back their work but when it comes to that. You can expect them to blame faulty parts and poor work on you and offer zero discount on fixing what went wrong. Trust me I have lived in Grand Haven my entire life. Avoid this place at all costs. I purchased my vehicle new from this dealership in 2015. I have used their service department for all my oil changes and tire rotations. The service department for me always determines whether I will use them in the future for purchases as well as service. I have experienced the consistent decline in service from this dealership and my experience with them today sealed the deal. I had a 9 AM appointment for oil change and tire rotation. I had a phone call when I arrived so I parked behind the used car lot so I wouldn't be on the phone when I checked in. Even though there were many empty parking spaces, a salesman almost immediately came out, asked if I was one of their drivers and then told me to go park over by service as I was there for an appointment. When I pulled into the service bay, I stood there over 5 minutes waiting for someone to check me in, even though I was the only car to check in and 3 "customer service" people and the service manager all sitting at their desks. Once checked in, the "customer service" guy told me it would take about an hour, and I told him I would be back about 10 to pick up. I came back at 10:30 only to find out they had not even started to work on the car AND that there were now 3 cars ahead of me, even though I had a 9 AM appointment. I told him I was not waiting and to just bring the car. When he brought the car up, I asked to speak to the service manager and he said he is in the office, pointing to the empty office as the "service manager" was currently at the Ford dealership and not available. Over hearing the conversation, the "backup service manager" came over instead of saying sorry for the confusion, let us get it in right now for you, began his talking down to me and telling me that when they think it is a drop off, they have several hours (even though the "service manager" told me an hour and I told him I would be back at 10 which he then claimed he never heard), and then continued on to tell me that in the future when I book service appointments.....which is where I stopped him to say there would be NO future appointment or purchases. I fully expect whoever is managing this social media page will "acknowledge" receipt of the issue and please contact us at your earliest convenience just like they do on every negative review. You have the contact information of every individual that has experienced poor customer service and CHOOSE not to call them directly which is what you would do if you were truly interested in improving your customer service. Extremely disappointed. I thought this dealership would be a trustworthy place with employees that had integrity, I was very wrong. I bought a used car, 2011 Subaru Forester, for college from Andy Pitcher AND Brett, and no later than 2 weeks it would not start and was constantly stalling. We had to take it in two different days to have it inspected at Preferred, and both times they could not find anything wrong... Less than two months passed since we bought it and we decided to bring the car in to get a tune-up to our local trust worthy mechanic and they told us the car is worth half the price we paid with needing TWO pages of repairs. Preffered refused to take any responsibility and did not fix one item of the list. We had to call everyday for over a week since Andy Pitcher, our salesman, would not call us even when he texted "I will call you in a few..." and the manager also refused to take our calls. It was not until we used a different phone number that they finally answered. Using my hard earned money from high school, it was and still very disappointing and frustrating to say the least for them not to make this right. Knowing that I could not sell this car myself, with the peace of mind that it would be safe and reliable for the new owner, I ended up selling the car back to them, since they would not do anything with the leaking quart of oil or the less than 40% of brake pads both in front and rear and many other needed repairs. I LOST $3,000 dollars in less than two months. Preffered Chevrolet has made me loose faith in humanity from what type of a living they make and serve. read more

Purchased a vehicle on 7/9/2014 from this location. Sold to me as a certified Pre-Owned, and now they are claiming that the vehicle was not certified and will cover none of the repairs. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. I have basically been told that because I purchased the vehicle through the Grand Haven Location instead of the Muskegon location, that the Certification was voided. I was lied to and would never recommend this business to anyone else. Have had to have the vehicle back for brake problems, transmission problems and a bad starter all within the first 2 months. Absolutely terrible customer service and very shady business practices. Very disrespectful salesman, absent managers and sleazy mechanics . Bought a car from them on a Thursday and was told it would be ready by the following Monday (after they detailed it etc.) Went to pick up the car on Monday afternoon and got the run around for five hours. Not only was my entire day wasted because of inaccurate information from the salesman (Mark) but my friends was wasted as well (who drove me out there.) At the end of that day they sent me off in a broken car that started shaking as I drove it down the road. I had to turn around and bring it back so they could fix it (again). A routine maintenance check was never done on the car, nor was the inside cleaned. After much haggling and a week later I finally get the car back, cleaned and supposedly fixed, but I took it to my mechanic just to be safe. The dealership had put new brakes and rotors on the back and new rotors on the front, but when my mechanic looked at it he said when they took the wheel apart to put new rotors on the front, they put the old brake pads back on the car; which were at about 20%. For those who don't know, that's right before they start to screech. Brake pads cost about $20-$25 and the fact that they put crap ones back on my car instead of replacing them says A LOT about the integrity of this dealership. There was also a transmission fluid leak that is going to cost me about $200 to fix that the mechanics conveniently missed in their "very thorough inspection". I did not get any sort of deal on this car. I bought it the day they took it in on trade and I figure they thought they could get away with a quick turn and burn without putting a dime into the car (i.e. maintenance check, detailing etc.) Absolutely pathetic. read more

After paying full price for a Chevy Cruze with bald tires a turbo going out 8 weeks later 1600 worth of work at the the same place I bought the car from as a week later the Intercooler inlet hose o ring busted as I took everything apart because they were going to charge $400 for a single tube that cost $70 and told be that I had possible damaged the Intercooler by hitting the curb when I knew damn well I haven't since I was last their to get the turbo replaced besides the Intercooler and piping sits above a steel frame. All in all fixed it for $70 instead of $400 on top of the 1600 for the turbo and burnt oil lines and gaskets and ext. hope I don't run in to any more fucking problems with this car as I have to get new tires and brakes. Other people have the same experience with buying cars from here and having a shit ton of problems a month later. Should not have rushed things and went to a better dealership. read more

They didn't have exactly what I wanted on the lot so Ryan arranged to get in from another location and within two days my new car was delivered to my house! I was also given a very fair trade-in price for my old car. Overall it was a great experience, so much so that when my lease is up I will definitely be returning. read more

I purchased a 2009 suburban. I should have read the carfax. It had been in 3 accidents of which i was not informed of. After driving it 120 miles home the left front caliper started seizing up. 4 days later the transmission went out. Thats 340 miles from purchase. I dont even have the plate yet. Now it sits at quality transmission on north st. No offer to even help with the 1900 dollar bill .Beware. read more

I negotiated a long distance deal over the phone for a new vehicle I saw online at Preferred. I agreed to come down, about an hour and a half drive, in 11 days, at Preferred's request, I was ready sooner. They needed to sell another vehicle to free up a "bonus tag". I left a credit card deposit, they charged my card instantly, and were supposed to get back to me in a few days with the final numbers, tax, GM card points, etc. 7 days later I start calling my salesman's cell phone as I did before, only to have him not answer or return my calls for 2 days. On the second day of calling I noticed the vehicle I was buying is removed from their website. On the third day I blocked my phone number from the caller I.D. and believe it or not my salesman answers the phone immediately. Now I am told there are no "bonus tags" available, but they would be happy to order me a new vehicle, of course at a higher price than previously negotiated. So after more lying I find out the vehicle I was buying was sold to someone else. I guess they were planning on not telling me this and keeping my deposit as long as they could. They did refund it right after I finally was able to get a hold of them. No integrity, do business elsewhere. I can't imagine what happens here after the sale! read more
