Bought an expensive warranty to cover my vehicle. When it came time to use the warranty, under the system I bought it for, the denied the claim because the specific part wasn't listed. So they denied the claim on an electrical safety issue. One that could've easily cause a serious accident or injury. Stay away from this company, do not buy their product. I opened a claim for an engine repair\replacement for my 2017 Hyundai at the beginning of 2024. After a claim was filed, It seems they forgot about me and after waiting some time I recalled them to see what happened. They finally sent out an appraiser to check out the claim. After his initial visit again, the claim was lost. after another lengthy time and two more phone calls, They finally offered a decision, Money towards a new engine, or they will supply a used engine and pay the cost minus the deductible and sales tax toward the repair of the car. Again, after a while and making excuses to not being able to talk to the garage and more phone calls, I agreed to the used engine option. Now the engine they had in mind was sold to someone else during all this hee hawing around but finally they did find a replacement engine. The engine was shipped as promised to the garage but it wasn't complete and later found it it wasn't even from a Hyundai. All the wires and associated harnesses were destroyed plus being a different engine from another type car, all the sensors and harnesses from the old engine had to be swapped over to the replacement engine. As I said the engine wasn't complete and was missing the oil cooler so it was tried to swap it from the new one and then found out it doesn't fit. A new one had to be ordered from the dealer and we were told it is a special order since that comes with a complete engine. preferred claims they will not over that part, and the gasket kits nor the labor need to make all these swaps. The care is finally done, but the mechanic is holding my care till he gets paid. Preferred has been stalling to pay the bill because they claim the bill doesn't reflect what they are willing to pay. If they would have send the complete proper engine, The car wouldn't have needed the extra parts and labor. It has been almost 5 months I'm without this car and preferred isn't budging to try and solve this. I would like to have my car back. Please !!! read more

Stay far away. They pay decades old labor rates if they pay anything at all. They do their best to fix things as cheap as possible even when they're told the problem is much bigger than the scope of work they are willing to provide. I paid for a 4 year warranty and 2 years in had issues. I paid 3x more out of pocket than they paid and are still telling me I'm not entitled to a refund for the remainder of my warranty. My rating is actually in the negative stars but that's not an option here. Just stay far away. There are better companies at comparable prices if you look. read more

Bought the most expensive warranty they offered. To anyone but a mechanic, the list of covered items is exhaustive and appears all inclusive. I was sold on and bought the warranty in good faith under the impression that the engine, transmission, everything besides wiper blades, brakes, tires, etc. would be covered. Never thought I would have to worry about anything mechanical. Had two separate problems over the first two years. Both of which were not covered (despite the contract stating "all internal engine parts") and both dealers saying "your warranty sucks" to me, identically. These people are a scam. They want my bank to deal with a refund on a totalled vehicle. Notified them my bank policies will not allow them to verify all the information they are required for the refund. And even though I gave them all the documentation they asked for. They say it's useless coming from me, it can only come from the bank. Refusing to give me my money back even though I paid for the warranty with cash. And my loan was only for the car. read more

I wish I could give Preferred Warranty no stars and a big thumbs down! This company does not honor its contracts! I bought a used 2011 Nissan Sentra from a reputable smaller dealership on 9/30/19. A 3-month warranty with Preferred Warranty was included. The engine light illuminated on the evening of 11/29/19. I immediately called the warranty company to report this issue. They informed me that I should take the car to a mechanic for a diagnostic. The next day the oil light came on. I checked oil and it was low. I immediately put 4 quarts of oil in the car and drove it to a reputable mechanic. The mechanic discovered the piston rings were bad, which was why the oil was leaking and the engine needed to be replaced. This info was relayed to Preferred Warranty. However, they insisted on having a compression test be done and get this.. I would have to pay for the test even though the mechanic advised that it wasn't necessary because that wasn't the issue. After a bunch of back and forth between me, the mechanic and Preferred Warranty, today (12/18/19) they denied my claim even though I had the "Power Train" warranty that covers the engine. They said it was denied for lack of maintenance on my part.. for driving the car with no oil. How was I supposed to know the car was leaking oil until the light came on?? Who anticipates maintaining the oil levels in a car that was just purchased 2 months prior! That makes absolutely no sense! I am beyond disappointed. I'm disgusted with this company. Money wasted and I still have to pay the mechanic over $300 for the compression test! Unbelievable! read more

I had bought this warranty with my 2008 BMW 550i at 56k miles and bought the plus warranty. Had my car break down at 104k miles with 26k miles left in the warranty and 2 1/2 years remaining on the contract. They voided my warranty and refused to refund my money for a Lyft sticker on my windshield. For using a carpool or ride share app my warranty was voided. As stated in the contract it has. It been used for commercial or emergency services. No valid reason to void my warranty that I paid $4177 for and stuck dead in water with a $5k repair bill that should've been covered. I would be very aware of this company and misleading contracts. The dealer swears they are reputable and great. I see they have a lot of success. With me they have royally screwed me. Called the agent and said to take to shop and that they would pay for diagnostic and then mechanic would check with them if they would pay for repair. Less than a year later the engine is down again and we're told our warranty is up and the engine PWI bought had NO additional warranty on it. So here we are without a driveable vehicle and no way to get it fixed. Who buys an engine with no warranty coverage?! read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. I will never use this warranty company when purchasing a new car and will be sure to let everyone know to never use them as well. We purchased a used car last year and paid $1,500 for the extended warranty because we we informed it's great coverage and will help ease our mind as the car we were buying was used. Now we are having an issue with this car took it to the dealer to get looked at and what do you know they won't cover the part. So now we are quoted $2,500 for a repair because they claim that it's not an internal part now Let me say they have to remove the ENTIRE transmission to get to this part. I find it funny how this is an AUTOMATIC car but funny how because of how ford used to make there cars he kept telling me technically my car is a manual. I am beyond upset and again will make sure that everyone knows to never use this company. I bought a 2006 Toyota Avalon at the beginning of the year. About a month ago, I noticed a popping sound when making left turns, and the power steering started going out intermittently. I was so disappointed that my new (to me) car was already developing a problem! Fortunately, the dealership had convinced me to include this warranty at the time of sale. I was skeptical at the time, because I figured that a warranty company would find any possible loophole they could in order to deny a claim, so I felt like buying the warranty was pretty much throwing money away, but in the end I caved and said YES to the warranty. I called up the claims department and they directed me to a repair shop in my area. I took my car into the shop, they diagnosed the problem and reported the diagnosis to the warranty claims dept. I was expecting this to be a long drawn-out process, with the warranty company sending out an adjuster to visually confirm the shop's diagnosis, and this whole process would take several days to reach a conclusion about whether or not this would be covered. So I was really expecting the worst, and calculating how I could possibly borrow or move some money around in order to pay for this repair out of pocket. I couldn't have been more wrong! The repair shop got the go-ahead pretty much immediately, I believe, and my car was fixed in a matter of a few hours! And it was not a cheap repair (the steering rack and pinion needed to be replaced), but my out of pocket expense was only the $100 deductible. I am so thrilled at the outcome, and I am very grateful that Preferred Warranties was there for me in my time of need! After I had originally bought the car, I was reading online reviews about Preferred Warranties and saw all the negative reviews on Consumer Affairs and Ripoff Report, so I was feeling like a fool for having bought this. But the whole repair process couldn't have been more easy and smooth, and I am just so relieved!! bought a vehicle from a dealer and never was told we had this warrenty co . now that we know we paid 895.00 for a 6month or 7500 mile warrenty. if I had known the less than 2 days into driving said vehicle that the check engine light would come on witch would make me unable to get emissions test done witch would allow me to get vehicle registered and so have to take this vehicle back to dealership and tell them about it and is still in the hands of the dealership pending ok from preferred warra nties .bought april 26 2019 taken back to dealership april 29 haven't seen it since and made the first payement. and as of 5/11/2019 we are still waiting! read more

I am GM of a repair shop that recently had business with Preferred Warranties. It was a very expensive repair and I had my doubts if PW would perform for the customer. To my surprise, they did exactly what their contract said they would do. I am dead serious, the total was just over $7000. I have many years of experience and have seen many a warranty outfit try to weasel out of paying for needed repairs. Not in this case. They performed as promised and paid promptly. I want to be reasonably fair with this review, but honest at the same time because I am sure that many, many claims are paid out from this company, so your experience may vary. I purchased an older used convertible last year. I knew that if the convertible motor were to fail on this car it was an expensive repair so I inquired about a warranty. The dealer said that he did not recommend a policy but if I really wanted one he would sell it to me. First red flag. I got a policy that specifically covered the convertible top motor. In the first six months I had to take the car to a mechanic, recommended to me by Preferred, for a warning light. I told the shop about my policy and immediately he shook his head and said, you know they are very unlikely to cover anything, just repeating what he told me. Second red flag. I said I understand, take a look anyway. The issue was resolved without filing a claim. Last week my convertible top stopped functioning. Its not designed to be used manually so this is a must have feature. I initiated a claim, found a busy, highly recommended shop that had dealt with Preferred previously, and the owner had intimate knowledge of my car. I felt good. I handed him my policy and he just said, yea, I've dealt with them, its highly unlikely that they will cover it. He stated that they will just send an adjuster who will say its something else and deny the claim. I sighed and said, well, see what you can do. Third red flag. Four days later I get a call back, sure enough the adjuster visited the shop, said its not the motor, its the pump and the pump isn't covered and he left. Claim denied. Sure enough, the "pump" isn't listed in my contract. The reason it isn't listed is because the "motor" for the convertible top is an all in one unit, electric motor and hydraulic pump. That's the device, the one and only device that operates the top. What the adjuster is saying is that he "heard" the motor running so it has to be the pump so its not covered. Very clever. Now, you can't buy the pump separately, just the all in one unit, nor can you install a pump separately. Its all in the fine print folks. My point is this, any reasonable person would assume that if you have a failure of a part, and its the only part available, all in one unit, it would be covered. You can't simply separate the two. They are splitting very fine hairs in this situation. If this were presented in a court of law I assure you any reasonable judge would agree. In their defense I realize that they simply can't just pay for every single claim. Its also not fair for everyone to jump on the internet and trash a company for every bad experience they have. However, when I am warned by a dealer and two shops that its unlikely it will be covered, then have a claim and it literally goes exactly as they say it will go and its denied, you have to think to yourself, there must be some truth to it, right? I'm not angry with this company, the mechanic is, he was irate, because he has a shop filled with Mercedes, Porsche, and BMW's, he is very knowledgeable, and he knows there is only one way to repair a failed motor, with a new one and he was astonished that they actually found a way to deny the claim. I am simply a dissatisfied customer who, in this one case, was let down when what should have been a covered expense, was denied. My only recourse, which isn't available in all states, is to cancel my contract, which I initiated already, but from what I've read can be a nightmare to complete as well. In the end, buyer beware. There are endless ways to invalidate a claim by splitting hairs. I'm not even going to the extent of saying never buy a service contract. I am saying, however, keep in mind that it is a total crap shoot. It may get covered, it may not. If there is a small loophole, they are likely to exploit it to their advantage. I have used this service a few times and each time I was very satisfied with it. One of the best things is the comprehensive list of repairs that are covered. Which in todays markets is a help. When you run into unexpected car repairs, thinking that here is yet another expense that will drain my pocket, you are pleasantly surprised that you are covered and out of pocket expenses are not too bad. The shop that is in my area, JJ Bergamo, is one of the best and they work closely with the company to make sure that you are serviced expertly. So I highly recommend this warranty company. read more

Our name is Hudson Valley Auto Sales, Inc.; we are a used car dealership in Hudson, NY. We previously provided our customers with Preferred Warranties Inc. warranties. Our customers are like family to us. This relationship with Preferred Warranties Inc. only last around a year because once our customers needed to call in a claim on their vehicle Preferred Warranties Inc. began giving our customers a run around and using loop holes to get out of paying claims and helping customers. Since these instances began we started looking for a better service for our beloved customers. We found a company that we wholeheartedly believe in and stand by. Since signing up with this new company we starting finding that customers with the new company were much happier with the claim process. Therefor Preferred Warranties Inc. received less and less new contracts from us. Since we gave them less contracts they denied us access to our account to keep track of claims coming in. Now the worst part of this whole ordeal is our representative from Preferred Warranties, Inc.; who is loosing accounts to this other warranty company, has started to go around to his still active accounts and is telling them and quite frankly almost bragging that he, himself dropped our dealership. This is not only degrading and disrespectful to our dealership it is also unbelievably unprofessional! To top it all off this representative from Preferred Warranties Inc. is not telling these people the whole truth. He is telling people that he dropped us due to a high claims ratio, when the truth is that we are no longer associated with his company due to inactivity. The reason this is so upsetting is because when he tells people his company dropped us for a high claims ratio it means that our vehicles break down and have issues. This is not the case by any means. Even though our dealership was not pleased with the Preferred Warranties Inc. product we did not go to other local dealers and put down their product. i am an owner of a motorcycle shop that NO longer will except motorcycles that have this warranty..beware.they dont cover hardly anything when it comes to fixing your motorcycle. they dont pay taxes,or fluids that are needed to complete the job. they leave it up to the customer. so when they say they you only pay a $50 deductible, they are lying. go with another company. futhermore trying to get them to pay is always a problem. your better off just paying out of pocket. and save the thousands of dollars it costs to have this crumby warranty. they only pay whole sale prices on parts.anybody that has ever bought harley parts knows, they give no discounts or wholesale pricing to anybody. so tese are more costs that the customer must pay. i have waited 4 days for an inspector to come out and to get paid..buyer beware read more
