I've been coming here for years but lately they've been treating this barbershop more as a social lounge than a place of business. It's not personal it's just business and I want to have my haircut in a more professional setting. I see they don't take criticism positively and they're unprofessional. They gamble shooting dice in the front, and I don't want that around my son. The last straw was when they were drinking out in the open and the barber Anthony had just poured a cup of liquor. That is so unprofessional on so many levels to drink liquor while cutting hair and I was surprised because I never seen them do that before. I really needed a haircut so I let Anthony cut my hair and I noticed he was doing something different cutting my hair and instead of acknowledging my request he got real defensive and said I know what I'm doing and to relax. After leaving the shop I noticed he cut my hair shorter than usual and I'm pretty sure the alcohol had a play in it. I called him the next day and he got real defensive saying I only had one drink. I don't care if it's one drink. I rather u cut my hair sober. But instead of just apologizing and acknowledging what I was telling him he got defensive and raised the haircut price on me from $30 to $40. That doesn't sit right with me. I rather leave a review to let people know this barbershop is unprofessional. I see they take negative comments personal. Stay away from Brian Castillo's chair, he messed up my 12 year old son and didn't even apologize, my husband took my son to get a haircut with him and when they got home I noticed that in the back of his head he had a big chunk of hair missing, My son was crying because school is about to start and his appearance is very important to him, I went back to this place to get my money back and he didn't care, I understand that people make mistakes but the least thing he was able to do is apologize to my kid, knowing my son he would have taken as a funny experience but not saying anything is what makes me upset, learn from our bad experience and avoid making an appointment with this person. read more

My husband went here for the first time last week (his hairs thining) he left his stylist of 10+ years because she can't seem to make his hair work for him. I don't know the name of who he went to but he loves his hair cut, he had a lot of confidence when he came home. Today I took my son (5 yrs old) the barber did a great job, a pony tail with a fade and line up. It looks so good and he was very attentive and awesome at handling a small kids moving head lol. Great vibe in the shop, you can see the enjoyment in all the barbers with the vibe they have in the shop. everyone acknowledges you are there and they stay aware of who came in, which is awesome if your a walk in. I just moved out to the IE and was in need of a hair cut and in search of a barber. After yelping, I had made up my mind to visit Stay Gold Barber Shop. On my way there, I just went with my gut feeling and parked at the Premier Barber parking lot. Upon arriving, first thing I asked was if they accepted credit cards, the guys were cool enough to to say they didn't and the smoke shop had an atm. Lalo cut my sons hair (gentleman cut) and did a perfect job. He took his time and made sure I was happy with it. At the same time, Ed helped my brother. He was happy with his taper. Lalo hooked me up with a clean fade. What ever these guys are doing, looks like they are doing it right. There is no menu pricing on cuts or a sign that says Cash Only so keep that in mind, however, I highly recommend giving them a shot. AC was on and TV was showing a game show. Chill environment without so much vulgar barber shop talk, which is great if you have kids. All in all, it was $17 for my brothers taper and shave, and $28 for me and my son. Not bad. read more

Usually I don't write long detailed reviews, but when it comes to quality work, I'll put the effort in. I've been going to Nate for about a year now. When I first went to his original spot, I told him "I need that south side fade", his response was sure brotha, I gotcha. Now I've gotten a handful of these specialty cuts in the past, but no one really knew a **** what they were doing. So I sat down, closed me eyes and let it happen. After some friendly conversation, and watching a killer lakers game, I grabbed ahold of the mirror and checked it out. Damn! This guy nailed it! I could've sworn if I had a double cup full of purple drank and a candy slab parked out front with the rag missin', I could've been pulling bitches for days. Paul Wall would be proud of his work. Best hair cut my son has ever had! I will definitely be returning. All the chairs were taken and it's obvious why. The barbers took their time and didn't rush through the cuts. Lots of attention to detail. This has been by far the best fade my some ever had done. My son had a traditional cut done. But others were getting cool designs and very up to date cuts. First off, the shop is very clean and comfortable. Only thing I'm here to write about is the price change every time I go in. I was lucky enough to have Grace cut my hair twice and she charged me 17. I leave a $5 dollar tip both times. Next time I went in I was charged $18, still left a $5 dollar tip. Just went in on Friday and was charged $20 by A.J. Still gave him a $5 dollar tip. I don't know if the barbers are including their tips with the cuts, but will I be charged $22 or $23 next time? I get the exact cut every time, but the prices are very inconsistent and keep going up. Don't know if the owner is aware of this. I have never left a "yelp" before, but felt it was necessary. Walked in about 230 pm on a Saturday. No signin books for walkins. Asked the barbers if they are taking walkins they said yah have 3 in front of you ( with 6 barbers cutting figure an hour wait). Two kids walk in about an hour into my wait and ask each barber if they are taking walkins and they said yah sit and wait. at this time all 3of us still waiting. They take one new guy who walks in saying he has an appt which I understand. They then take another guy who just walked in and sat down. So half hour later they ask who is next and the guy before me says me.. and one of the kids that walked in just sits in the chair and the guy whose been waiting for 3 hours at this point says hey man they are walkins.. and the barber replies no they have an appt. we clearly saw them and heard them ask saying they are walkins. They laughed it off and the guy before me was pretty pissed. Bad customer service I walked out at this point I'd be surprised if the guys before me didn't. read more

I'm super excited that My husband and boys have found a near by barber shop that they all love. I usually don't give reviews but I had to share and rate this place a FIVE STAR. My husband use to travel all the way to El Monte and my boys to Rancho Cucamonga(bad service) barbers. Today we walked in with no appointments and it was packed being a Friday of course. However the AWESOME part is that not only did they greet us but took us in very quick. Thank God to whoever cancelled because we got in and out. Clean Shop with Friendly Staff, My Boys have had their haircuts by Grace, Chico, and Nate....And They loved it!! I'm rating this shop on the EXPERIENCE, NOT THE HAIRCUT. Went in today, but before walking in we called and asked if they are taking walk in and if so I needed to have both of my boys haircut. They said there is no wait bring them in. We arrived and a young gentleman who works in the first chair on the right greeted us. I'm new to the area, so finding a barber shop is a big thing for us. He said that the young man in the back left with the Jordan Jersey is ready. We went and sat down and that barber did a good job on my 2 year old. After I was ok my other son is next and they didn't have time for him. He said that he had an appointment next. I was like ok so can another barber take care of him. He responded with I can do it after my appointment. Then he goes and sit in the chair to get his hair cut? I'm like dude your at work dont you come in to make money. You get paid on the haircuts you do, so why are you saying no to $$. I dont understand why you guys would tell me over the phone to come in and I specifically said both boys. Then you want me to come back at a different time? If I would have know that this would happen. I should of went down the street to A Cut Above The Rest on the corner of baseline and lilac or Gents off of Riverside and the 210 freeway. This is a typical hood shop. You will get a good haircut but it's a hood shop. Which means they talk very inappropriate and there are people who just hang around the shop.
