Lots to see in the Mt Dora Canal with Captain Jonathan and Captain Nate. Alligators and lots of birds along the canal. Very informative guides. What an unexpected beautiful way to spend the afternoon. We thought it would be hot on the open boat in the middle of the summer but the breeze once you get going is fabulous! We will go back on this ride EVERYTIME we are in Mount Dora as the wildlife will change throughout the year. The only bad thing for some people would be the lack of a bathroom on the boat. We took a two hour review, we had a leisure day ahead so we took the 11a.m. Tour. The capitals on the boat, very entertaining and quite knowledgeable. So we're cruising along, seeing the mansions built along the shore, learning some history of these homes , nice. What we didn't expect is the canals, OMG, the canals were amazing, the scenery the wildlife, so much fun, great pictures. A lot of fun. Made this trip twice as much fun. Really enjoyed our 2 hr narrated pontoon boat ride on the lake and canals -- fun and relaxing only complaint is our guides mike kept kicking in and out maki g it hard to hear her at times -- we saw gators, beautiful birds and plants. We started out the excursion in a down pour but the boat had plastic zip down sides and we stayed dry although makes it harder to see but rain eventually stopped and sides rolled up-- the price is a bit steep $32 per person other then that we enjoyed our time on the lake -- would go again if price was less but this will be a 1 x excursion for us read more

We did a last-minute boat tour for six of us to see the Mount Dora Lake area in the Mount Dora Canal. It was very enjoyable, got to see lots of nature, birds, gators, baby gators, Paula , and Jonathan our 1st mate and captain were very knowledgeable and very fun. Our party of four went on a Premiere Tour this afternoon. Our Captain was Dave and First Mate Paula. This trip was so informative, we learned a lot about the river and the rivers that branch off of this. We saw multiple breeds of birds and Paula was extremely informative about them as well as the environment that surrounds them. We saw a gator and bald eagles covering their nest. The pontoon was full, we all laughed, asked questions and sang on this trip. We would definitely recommend this tour to adults, teens as well as children. Would certain come again. We really enjoyed this boat ride onto the Dora canal. The boat was very clean and comfortable. Lots of wildlife to see. Boat operators Captain Johnathan and Captain Nate were very friendly and informative. They threw in a good amount of humor with lots of details about the local area and wildlife. They were very nice to make the trip very memorable for our kids by letting them take the steering of the boat on the way back. (Captain was right there to supervise) good value for money. If we are in the area again we would chose to ride with Premier. read more

They could do just a standard tour but they personalize the experience based on what's happening on the lake and canal, what's available to see and conditions. We were there on Easter Sunday (sorry guys!) and they have us all Easter candy. Most importantly they were focused on safety and ensuring we all had a great experience. The tour itself is fine, but the woman that does the tour stands at the front of the boat and paces. You can't see anything in front of the boat or take any photos which is very frustrating. If she sat down while giving the tour, it would be infinitely better. read more

TOUR GUIDE Super nice and knowledgeable. Very friendly guy, an obviously good-natured person. He made the tour relaxing and enjoyable. VIEWS Great views of both natural and man-made surroundings. The boat travels through the expansive Lake Dora into the whimsical and winding canals. You'll see Tiki Village, a charming retirement community home to the snow shovel on display that says "Rust in Peace." You'll see lots of bald cypress trees, some a thousand years old, sleeping hibiscus and other unique fauna, soft and hard shelled turtles, gators...and lots of birds. Egrets, herons (giant blue and small green), anhingas ("snake bird"), wood ducks, bald eagles, and many more. Some birders were on the boat with us and able to cross off a couple species from their list. THE BOAT Very comfortable and clean. Has a small restroom in the back. Covered for shelter from the sun or rain, and has clear plastic roll-down covers. Has speakers that play a variety of relaxing music. If you get cold from the winds, there are blankets available too. Seats about 20-24 in 2-person booths with one wide aisle down the middle. The ride was pretty smooth, not choppy. My mother handled it without dramamine. OVERALL If you are in the area and you appreciate nature or being on a boat, give it a try! It's both interesting and relaxing. read more

What a wonderful laid back tour, a great way to see the canals, lake, and wildlife! Our two tour guides did an awesome job keeping us supplied with facts and staying good natured, as well as navigating the boat towards interesting things. Normally I'd get annoyed at having a tour guide talk so much, but we all really enjoyed our guides. The only negative thing to say was that they gave the boat a piece of information that was completely erroneous (not even close to being correct). We were told that Florida had the most cattle than any state in the US. (Nerd alert: the actual ranking for Florida's head of cattle inventory is #16. Texas is #1, about double the inventory of the next state down.) This is an easy way to do something together with family members. Just sit back in the shade and enjoy the views - no stress, no exertion. The tip to give is to go on a weekday - you'll see much more wildlife since there is a very significant drop of boats on the canals. read more

We took the 11am 2 hour Lake Dora tour. You must make advance reservations to get on the boat which was fine as I made a reservation a couple of months in advance. The tour was a lot of fun. The tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. The lake, canal and river are beautiful. Seeing all of the Florida wildlife and plants a true pleasure. The seats are comfortable and clean. The tour was on a busy Saturday and the lake was hopping with boats of all kinds. The weather was perfect. I recommend this tour if you are in Mount Dora. read more
