I am hugely familiar with the comfy chairs where you can sit and wait for your gymnast to fly past the window and enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat. The equipment is top class, and somewhat unusually, they have all the stuff for boys and men, you know those horses they swing about on and impossible looking rings. There are top class coaches (this year they send a teams to the European championships) Although mainly gymnastics there is also judo and a weights room. And waiting parents.

They have everything you need for all types of gymnastics and it's great quality (not the rusty, worn stuff I had to put up with at school.) Not being a gymnast, I haven't actually used these facilities myself, neither am I a member of any clubs here, but I do know a few of the gymnastics coaches (all amazing) and I have had the pleasure of watching some of their sessions when I've been waiting to pick them up from work. This place trains some truly awesome gymnasts, and may even provide competitors for the 2012 Olympics. Anyone who gets a chance to learn or develop their gymnastics here is really, very lucky. Gymnastics definitely dominates the Cardiff Central Youth Club; however it also offers Judo and Weight Training.

I came…read morehere on the 23rd and the atmosphere was fantastic. ~ Atmosphere: Really where the stars come from! Even though the place is super crowded, it wasn't dirty because there was constantly staff walking around ensuring that all the litter left by drunk people were cleaned up. There's music playing and be sure to snag a seat by huge German sausage BBQ pit, the smell is divine! The Christmas decor was top notch as well, with the traditional wood cabins for all the food stalls and shops. ~ Variety: The main reason why they don't get a full 5 stars from me. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of things to do if you have kids. A good 3/4 of the event space is composed of kid-friendly rides! Guaranteed that your children would be massively entertained for hours here. Unfortunately, my partner and I didn't have any kids and adult entertainment is limited. There's ice skating, a bar, ice sculpture viewing, and a ferris wheel. A small selection of things that doesn't really populate an entire evening (though I guess you can spend plenty of time at the bar). ~ Food: The food they had here was definitely amazing, though I'm slightly disappointed at the choices. They had plenty of drinks options, but only sausages for hot food. Desserts however include crepes; nutella crepes anybody?! With an ice-rink, fairground, tents filled to the brim with winter warmers and treats, if your not feeling festive by the time you've left your name must be Ebaneezer. Even me, the harshest Christmas critic left planning on putting a tree up. With so much to do and such a pretty, happy atmosphere this is a must for people who still believe in the guy with the red suit. The ice rink is a nice size and plays up to the date chart music mixed in with the odd carol. Staff have that friendly aura that usually only comes with Disney Land. The hot chocolate, although slightly pricey is seriously out of this world and if you feel like being really cheeky add a sneaky Baileys. I'm off now to play; 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!'

Leigh Wood Cycle route (between 1 - 2 hr)…read more This is a great cycle and depending on your level (I'm a beginner so the less hills the better for me), you can make it more challenging if you choose by reversing the loop or adding on extra bits, etc. We make our way across the suspension bridge (great view to start you off) and take a right into Church Road which leads us into Leigh Woods. We choose a route that takes us to Paradise Bottom and turn right and make our way into town along the gorge bank. It is amazing how you go from city and people to trees and not a soul - it is so quiet, beautiful and just such an easy escape. You will see cows grazing at a nearby farm, scatterings of the odd house, a wood carved Dragon bench, squirrels and many more forest friends.

Jo and Clive Bailey have been launching these beauties in our skies for many years now. They own a fleet of fine balloons in which you can take off - even champagne flights, well la-di-dah. Thinking of a unique marriage proposal? She (or he) will be swept off their feet, quite literally. :) They fly from Mid March until October, and thermals are best for flying 2 hours before dawn and 2 hours before dusk. Brizzle-based flights take off the picturesque (and central for parking) Ashton court. Want to get perspective in your life? Trying giving Bailey's a ring and sail 2,500 feet above the city!

If you spot a colourful balloon above the Bristol skies there's a good chance it might be a Bailey Balloon. What's lovely, is you experience the whole shabang, you don't just turn up and jump in and out, the whole experience lasts 3 or 3 hours as you help help prepare the balloon for flight and find out about all the internal workings. It should definitely go on your something to do before you die list!

This excellent council run state of the art leisure centre boasts one (sorry, two!) of the best…read morepools in the city. The main pool boasts six lanes and is even overseen by a spectator gallery which is used during competitions. There is also a smaller learner pool complete with a flume which snakes down into it (alas I've never worked up the bottle to ask to have a go!). One word of warning, on two occasions I've turned up only to be refused entry due to the timetable being changed without any warning (there was no apology either - they just seemed to think I was a bit weird for reading the timetable online and assuming it was correct!). Elsewhere there's a gym and fitness classes (I've not used either though have heard good things about the circuit training class), and a decent sized hall which you can hire by the hour for badminton and 5-a-side. There's also ample parking outside, much of it CCTV monitored.

It doesn't cost much either. There's also gym facilities and a range of fitness classes. Make sure you check times (even phoning if necessary - although my one major complaint would revolve around the fact that I have tried to phone and find out about swim times only for my calls to remain unanswered). Regrettably the website isn't very regularly updated so it's a good idea to check. The Easton location isn't exactly wildly accessible for a lot of people. If you're a cardriver there's a large amount of parking outside but for those of us who aren't, the nearest reliable transport service is Lawrence Hill train station although even then you have to snake under the quite circuitous underpass in order to get to the other side. Overall it's a good leisure centre, I just wish it wasn't so heartbreaking to be turned away when I've travelled for miles because the staff don't answer the phone and the website is out of date!
