There is a beer freezer in the rear of the store which holds 7-8 domestic beers and 10+ imported beers ranging from $13-$25 for a six pack. There was also a respectable amount of ciders to choose from. However, you will not find any beers over 5% alcohol or any true craft beers. The counter attendant on duty when we visited was best described as douchy... acting annoyed by our questions regarding various wines and beers, and as if we were interrupting his day by wanting to check out. Regardless of the douchy staff, I still assign this bottle shop 4 stars for the great selection and fair prices.

They got s great selection of wines and beers and some quirky party drinks to suit any cocktail party in which you want to impress. They often have suppliers giving out samples here and staff are helpful when it comes to suggesting suitable drink for any occasion. The grocery section is a little random and I don't think it's the kind of store you would likely go to do a weekly shop at because they have limited choices for certain things. They do however offer some unusual snacks and foods and your bound to pick up something every time you go here to try just for the fun. It's a different experience in here and would highly recommend it as an off licence and perhaps good for party snacks otherwise your probably better off making the trip up to Bondi Junction for one of the main stream supermarkets.

Please review my Vintage Cellars membership details to put my complaint into perspective. Reference Number 59952253 I placed an online order which I do roughly every 4 weeks. I am very particular about wine vintage and never, ever order anything that doesn't list a vintage. The above order included more recent vintages for both the Saltram and Taylor Estate Wines. On January 9th, I attempted to return these incorrect wines to the Leichardt Vintage Celllars at about 12:30 PM. I was greeted by a very polite and helpful woman who explained she could not process the return but her manager would be arriving at about 1 PM and could I come back. I'm sorry, I didn't record her name but I did say that I was disappointed she was not empowered to make this decision and as a loyal customer, I was now already put offside. At about 1:10 I went back to the store and asked a gentleman I had not seen before if he was the manager. He said, "No." The lady I had spoken to prior, then told him who I was. He picked up the box of wine and started to give it back to me saying he could not process a return if the order was made online. I suggested he should ring the police as I wasn't leaving until the credit took place. He then asked me if I had tried this at any other store. I said, "what difference would that make, but no I haven't." He then pretended to make a call and then processed the return. My complaints are: If Vintage Cellars is not going to provide the vintage as advertised then either don't list a vintage or allow me to stipulate somewhere 'no substitutions.' Allow returns in store regardless of the channel used to purchase them. Empower your staff to keep clients happy. At absolutely no point did either staff member apologise.

Anyway, this is another one of the Marrickville Breweries and yeah, I think it's pretty cool. They have some good beers, and they certainly have a lovely beer garden as well. It's definitely one of those places that I would like to come back to, especially to get some takeaway beers.

It turns out, as tends to be the case with most of these small breweries, that the beer, well, was pretty awesome. In fact, they have a number of different ones on offer as well. Even though it seems that most of the seating is outside, they also have a pretty nice upstairs area as well, and also a restaurant. This is certainly a place to check out.

If you get a chance, read up on the previous tenant- Really cool relaxed and easy going atmosphere, full of older people and has a welcoming feel- which is a nice change to the short skirts, meat heads and delinquents you get this time of night right next door at Mona pub. Also do take aways!! All the food looked great too. I tried the margarita pizza and the chips. Both awesome. In some magical turn of events the chips somehow tasted like those cheese and bacon balls when you eat them with the dip. Something I highly recommend.

Friendly Grocer is indeed friendly. This is a densely packed store with lots of tinned, packaged and frozen goods. It's a curious mix of essentials and luxury products like Maggie Beer Elderflower Ice-Cream. Yum! Fresh food comes in the form of bread or milk, so best pop to the Greengrocer a few shops down if you want something living. They have the occasional English chocolate bar in, so worth keeping an eye out if you're a Double Decker or Wispa fan. The chap who owns it is friendly. He's a friendly grocer though not so friendly as to have a listed phone number. Go in and see him instead.
