You get what you pay for, £100 for 2 nights. We had a family room which was fairly cramped, we have had bigger family rooms at other Premier Inns all be it this is only the 3 rd one we have stayed in. The bathroom smelt a bit musty. The bed was comfortable. The sheets were clean. Noise was okay the first morning we did have a bin lorry a about 0730 but that cant be helped compared to a New York hotel we stayed in traffic noise here was minimal. It is clearly a hotel used by holidaymakers, it is very close to the town centre and other attractions including the national railway museum, which we took our 5 yr old to for his fifth birthday.
The staff at the front desk are extremely friendly and that is refreshing.
We had the meal deal in the restaurant which was okay the waiter was young and was slightly annoying, he had clearly read the script on his course on how to speak with people and he kept to it! The deal is good value especially as it gives you free breakfast for the children. The breakfast consists of cereals, toast, continental and cooked. It is a bit of a free for all when you get the cooked breakfast as there were 2 lines, cooked and the the toast line going into effectively a dead end. You feel as though you are pushing in.
On the whole the stay was okay, you cant complain too much for 50 quid a night. 3 stars given as the room smelt and the place looked a little tired and the car parking is extra.
Would return at the price paid but no more. read more
