Very friendly aikidoka (students) here, as well as instructors. Kind of odd to have a big pole in the middle of the mat (structurally there for the building) but it was easy to work around. The mat itself is quite comfortable for rolling and falling. The building is maintained well, and there was cleaning prior to the 11am saturday class. (I attended the 10am class). Parking was plentiful in the back. They also host brazilian jiu-jutsu and children's aikido here. Thing's I'd like to see here: -dehumidifier, I'm not sure if there's A/C at all, but it has that "musty dojo" smell. -floor sign designating area where shoes are and are not permitted. -more bottles of hand sanitizer around (just being picky here, but aikido has a lot of hand to hand contact).

I would love to make it to all the classes, but I usually end up with some conflict. But I do my best to make it to at least 2 or 3. It is by far the best workout I have ever done. First of all it is fun, so it doesn't feel like you are working out. I have also met a bunch of girls in the area that are great to hang out with. Oh and Master Chun makes it easy, so there is not a problem with feeling stupid or not having any experience with martial arts before. I haven't had any before and he made it very easy to pick up the moves right away. Great place to go if you are looking for a new workout that you will want to do for a lifetime!

As a suburbanite, I was a little wary about the location, and as a complete novice to martial arts, I was a little concerned about the degree to which I'd embarrass myself. After about a month of attendance, I feel comfortable advising anyone interested in attending that it's safe to disregard both of those concerns. Regarding safety - I attend classes on the weekends and at night. I've never felt unsafe. The parking lot is fenced, and the building is well secured. It's as safe as a facility loaded with swords can be. Regarding the novice issue - Coach Stone and his staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There are students from a broad range of ranges - from kids to senior citizens - from a broad range of cultural backgrounds. Everyone seems tremendously welcoming. The coaching is incredibly patient. I know I'm endlessly making novice mistakes - and certainly repeating the same ones. In spite of this, the coaches let me make my mistakes, and then work to educate me so that I try to make incremental improvements. Beyond that - this is a ton of fun. It's a fantastic workout, and it teaches all kinds of coordination and situational awareness.

History about me, I've been training in martial arts and kungfu for over 18 years now…read more I've known the instructor Sifu Ervin for many years now and has proven to be a very knowledgeable and professional instructor not only displayed through his words and demonstrations, but through the quality of character of his students and fighters that are grown and raised from this impressive establishment. Many students that have trained at this school come out to competitions consistently placing in the top 3. It would be a heartbreak to not at least see the school and speak to the instructor yourself and see if the school is a right fit for you. They teach a various amount of styles but the style I love to learn most is Shuai Chiao and Tai Chi. Shuai Chiao is the oldest kungfu style in the book and mostly focuses on controlling the opponent and taking them down in an orderly fashion.
