My kids absolutely love PMA. Austin is an amazing teacher. He really gets the kids excited and engaged during class. Alejandro and Mike are great class helpers as well. The instruction covers multiple times of martial arts, and the Black Belt program includes weapons as well (escrima, bo staff, nunchucks). The class sign up is for 6 months for the basic program, or the full on Black Belt training program is 3 years. I highly recommend them to everyone that talks to me about kids' activities. We had my 6-year-old son's birthday party at Premier on Colorado Blvd. this weekend and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. My son said it was the best birthday party he has ever had and was beaming from ear to ear all day (still is today actually). Jasmine (aka Miss Stark) planned every detail perfectly, from the cake, pizzas and the perfecly packaged party favors she had every detail handled. And Master Ricky had the most amazing way with the Children and had them all listening, happy, and participating after a few fun mintues of getting their wiggles out. My son is eleven years old and has been going to PMA for a couple of months now. He loves it and we do too. At PMA they teach martial arts and also life skills. My son has had more self-esteem, self-confidence, and self control since he has started. Tim is fantastic with these kids. He is strict but also loving. This is the best thing that has happened to my son in years. He tried several team sports and they just weren't for him. He has pretty severe anxiety and Premier Martial Arts is fun and rewarding without all the pressure of competition. Our son wanted to learn more about martial arts and we thought it would be a good idea at his age to develop some skills that would allow him to protect himself if needed as he continues to grow. We scouted around and stumbled across Premier Martial Arts over in the Southlands area while we are having Sushi at Bangkok Tokyo. We stopped in for a visit, watched some classes and met with the manager. It was all very impressive. Not only do they teach the physical aspects of martial arts but they really focus on the mental aspects such as respect, restraint, calmness of the mind, etc. We signed up before leaving. For the younger students they also teach respect for parents and elders. Our son now has a check list of things he has taken responsibility for such as cleaning his room, brushing his teeth, helping with chores and respecting his sister. Watching him learn the moves and develop mental focus over the past few months has been rewarding to us as parents. The teachers promote a positive atmosphere and keep the students motivated to work towards their next belt. Class times are very flexible for weekdays and weekends. Classes seem to be short and once they are over the next one begins. The repetitiveness of short and frequent classes seems to work better than a few long classes. They also provide many adult classes such as kick boxing, Jiu Jitsu, mixed martial arts. In this day we all need to have skills that will help us defend ourselves when the time comes. I highly recommend them, the staff / owners are helpful. The classes are not overwhelmingly big and the facility is huge! Not only they offer martial arts, but also provide fitness classes. They provide amazing services, fun and safe environment. My daughter enjoys her classes and looks forward to someday gaining her black belt. We also have another kid who's interested, but we are afraid that she might not last 6 months after a few sessions. We are waiting to see if she can actually commit before signing her up. So yes, there's a contract at sign up. But, it's only for six months. I think it's a great opportunity to commit and actually learn. But, also a waste of money if your child just isn't about martial arts. At sign up, we spent $450+ includes initial starting price, gear and first month. $110.00 a month after for 6 months! It's pricey, so make sure you are fully committed before signing up! If you have 2 Kids signed up, each additional family members are free!!! :) we are hoping that our other kid can commit and then I join for free! ;) read more

My son started at Premier Martial Arts at the end of August and he loves his class and especially Mr. Tim. I love that they teach respect and self confidence and I also appreciate the energy and excitement that Mr. Tim puts into every single class and student. The other staff as well as the owners, Austin and Djana, are also very helpful and responsive. My son had his birthday there this weekend and it was awesome- breaking boards, cutting the cake with a sword- basically made all of his little 5 yr old dreams come true! The only reason that I scored 4 instead of 5 is cost at startup and for belt ceremonies, but I do know that most of kids' activities will be expensive, so this isn't deviating too much from the curve. read more

This place is so great! My 11 (almost 12) year old daughter recently retired from from gymnastics after several years and many, many hours of dedication to the sport. She retired so that she could focus on other passions, like musical theater and karate. She had never done karate before and we loved what we read about Premier Martial Arts so we signed her up to check it out. She is absolutely loving it! The people that work here are phenomenal! They are so kind, welcoming, and encouraging!! We absolutely love what we have experienced so far. They pay attention to what they think our daughter is capable of and they are so kind and supportive in helping her find her place in this new world. Good experience for the kids, but terrible business model. So many hidden fees. They try to nickel and dime you for everything! So first you sign a contract. You're locked in. Then you realize that the majority of the features they advertised are only available if you pay extra for a premium "black belt" membership. You can't even advance to the next belt unless you pay them an e tea $60. It's super manipulative. I was on guard every time we went , cause I was afraid they were going to try to sell me something. There was even one time that they canceled normal class (without informing us), so that they could hold a merchandise sale. In other words, they canceled what we payed them to do, so they could try to sell us stuff. It would have been a little less frustrating if they would just inform us of schedule irregularities, but their communication was terrible. 90% of the time we were left in the dark. Like I said, our son really benefited from the experience. But not nearly enough to make us renew our contract. We got out of that ASAP. read more

My son had his 6th birthday party at Premier Martial Arts and it was the best party he's ever had. We were so impressed with the staff, the karate class, the games for both kids and adults, and the facility. We had 32 kids attend the party and they all had a fabulous time. They took part in a class, we had brought a pinata which Tasha and Tim were nice enough to hang from the ceiling for us, and my son got to cut his cake with a sword and break a board with his foot infront of all his friends! Im giving 1 Star because that is the lowest option!!! Beware of the Contract!!!! My son attends Premier Martial Arts, when I signed him up I was told by Tasha that the contract could be cancelled at ANYTIME with a 30 day written notice (As it takes 3 years to achieve your Black Belt). Well I provided just that a 30 Day Notice to Dis Enroll via email to the Billing Dept and was told in order to cancel I would need a Medical Waiver showing a disability- signed by a doctor or move over 25 miles away! My son has personal reasons not to return to the DoJo but to keep that private I choose to provide my new lease 23.5 miles away- well Billing mapquested my address at 17.3 miles and stated 17 miles is "pretty close for him to continue". So I googled it to see why the mileage didn't add up....They used E-470 tollroad! Yes im suppose to also pay a toll to take him back and forth. Currently I have not stopped payment (trying to handle this the RIGHT way) and I am paying for a class that my 10yr old son needs to no longer attend! Also take notice that the cancellation section of the contract is titled 30 DAY NOTICE... read more

Our son has been taking martial arts lessons at Premier Martial Arts for the last 4 years. His instructor, Mr. Tim, is absolutely amazing with young children. Our son also has medical issues and the studio has been so accomodating with his health requirements and extended absenses. We will be staying here until he reaches black belt status and beyond. Our oldest son has been at Premier Martial Arts for over 2 years. Classes are held almost every day and at varying times and that makes it easy for us to maneuver around busy schedules. A great aspect of this school is that once 2 people in the family are enrolled, the rest of the family can enroll for free (not including any uniforms,gear or equipment, of course). So if you have multiple kids it is a huge advantage. But something that people should know is that Premier is not just for kids! My wife and I have recently started as students and we both love it. In fact, I've never known my wife to truly love any physical activity and her class times are the best part of her week. We have started attending the adult class once a week and it is like our own little "date" night together, training hard to learn how to keep our family and ourselves safe. I've come to consider it a workout without it really being a workout and I love it. You will definitely break a sweat. Plus, it is very humbling to be a 40 year old white belt in a class with kids that are multiple belts higher. Humility is always a good lesson. The contracts don't concern us because we are committed, but I would suggest start with basic training to get your feet wet and see if you or your child will enjoy it. read more
