The waiting room was replete with books and toys that little boys only dream about (Thomas the Tank Engine, Legos, etc.) and he played happily while Kristin, the hygienist, took the time to discuss with us -- my husband and I -- our son's oral history. She also gave us a detailed description of what would happen in the appointment room. The staff at CHPD have an endless arsenal of techniques and tactics to gently deal with a restless or fearful young patient. Prior to our appointment, the receptionist even offered some extremely useful tricks and tips over the phone on how to prepare my son for his first visit. I felt that all of the staff were not only friendly, but really made an effort to answer all of our questions. The patient's comfort was clearly a priority for them, and my son actually had an enjoyable time. Between the tooth fairy video, new toothbrush, toy car, stickers, and so on, he can't wait to return for his next checkup! Note: CHPD does not accept any kind of insurance. They print out a form compliant with the American Dental Association, and it is your responsibility to submit it to your insurance company. (However, we did not have a problem getting reimbursed for our dental visit after submitting this form to our own insurance company.)

She made…read morean already difficult situation for our family much more traumatic with very poor and aggressive treatment of our child and an overzealous diagnosis to institutionalize, since refuted by multiple professionals. Her maltreatment has left lasting psychological scars. Please beware.
