I was scheduled for a procedure at the Presidio Surgery Center, which is located amongst several medical buildings in the area. From downtown the 38 Geary stops a block away. The Center also validates parking in the building's garage. You pre-register online which expedites the check-in process when you arrive. The staff at the Center are very friendly. Upon arrival, the receptionist checks you in and takes care of the paperwork and any necessary payments. Then Rebecca, the RN, walks me to a prep room for some procedural questions and provided me the gowns for changing. Afterward, she returns and walks me back to the prep area where she and Trish preps me with the IV. During this time, you're kept comfortable with warm blankets. The anesthesiologist comes by to discuss the process for my procedure. Then my Doctor comes to see how I'm doing and reassures me the procedure will be quick and painless. During the waiting time, the nurses come to check how I'm doing and status of my procedure. When it's time, they walk you to the procedure room and they reassure you that you are under the best care. Before I know it, the procedure was done and I awoke back in the prep room. They give you refreshments and crackers. When you are ready, you get dressed and they take you to the garage where my sister was waiting to drive me home. The staff was very friendly and professional. Thanks for making my first medical procedure a very pleasant experience.

I had given up hope and resigned myself to living in a constant state of tension and distress which negatively affected my family as well. I was hesitant to try this type of treatment but decided to take a chance given Dr. Herman's excellent reputation. I was impressed by the entire patient experience. Everything from the immaculate office, to the warm and comforting treatment rooms, to the integration workbook are very well thought-out. The IV ketamine treatments are done on comfortable loungers with effective eyeshades and curated music. I hardly ever saw anyone else in the office during my visits, and when I did, it all still felt very private and discreet. After receiving the Stellate Ganglion Block and 6 IV ketamine treatments, I am finally feeling a relief and calm that I didn't think I would ever experience again. The thing that sets Dr. Herman apart is that she truly wants you to get to a healthy state that lasts. I decided to do the Stellate Ganglion Block first, since it is the "hard reset" to calm an overactive nervous system. Dr. Herman performed the procedure flawlessly and explained things every step of the way. I felt deep relief and relaxation after the procedure which lasted for many months. It was incredible. At no point did Dr. Herman push for any further treatments, she let me decide based on how I felt. In fact, she said that I should first work up other health issues, to make sure that I was starting from an optimal state of physical health before additional treatments. It turns out that she was right, and I discovered some breathing issues that were likely impacting my sleep and, in turn, impacting my mental state. My anxiety was much improved but still present, so I decided to try the ketamine. I opted for the recommended 6 week protocol since I wanted to maximize the benefit and not just get partial improvement. I'm glad I did, because after this 6th treatment, I have had a breakthrough. I responded to a recurring stressful situation at home from a place of calm and equanimity instead of the usual reactivity. It was a major shift in my approach to a difficult life stressor and has noticeably improved the dynamic in my household. I am now on a good path to a better life, something I never would have thought possible. Dr. Herman is the ideal practitioner for this work because she combines excellent technical skills with a deep understanding of psychological healing. Her assistant Shade is also a warm and welcoming presence and provides additional much needed support. I feel very grateful to live in a place and time where a professional like Dr. Herman can provide this life-changing service for those in distress. She has the skills and the best intentions to relieve suffering and improve lives. I feel like I have been rescued from drowning. If you are suffering in silence, Dr. Herman can help you. Her work is benefitting not just me, but my family and friends, and others I come across. I am deeply grateful.

I have tried many treatments for my general anxiety and gone to many different in person therapists. I finally decided to give Soft Reboot Wellness a try and I am so grateful that I did. Dr Sara Herman made me feel immediately comfortable at her practice and answered any questions that I had. I have been going to her office in Menlo Park for ketamine therapy and recently had a Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) for my anxiety. I had been looking all over the bay area for an integrative medicine practice like this one. Every session for my ketamine therapy was unique and included a post treatment call with her incredible assistant, Shade. From the moment you walk into the center, you feel at ease. I knew exactly what would happen and when which helped me feel comfortable. The first ketamine therapy relieved my ongoing anxiety symptoms for 3 months after my treatment before I returned for another. The deeply personal work done in treatment was supported by Dr Herman's warmth and understanding. I felt so seen and validated by what came up for me during treatment. After about a year, I told Dr Sara Herman that I was still having some panic attacks and anxiety around day to day tasks. That is when she suggested a Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB). She explained what the procedure entailed and Shade gave me a call a week prior to go over what was expected before/after. Once I left Soft Reboot Wellness with my SGB, I felt a huge sense of relief wash over me. I hadn't realized how much my anxiety impacted my every day and every thought. Over the next week, I encountered so many situations that would've triggered a panic attack, but I was able to navigate past them smoothly. I even started to have deeper sleep and felt it easier to work through my daily emotions. I am forever indebted to Soft Reboot Wellness for truly changing the way I move through the world. I am so grateful to have found something that works so well for my mind, body, and soul.

When the problem first appeared I…read moretried to work through it for nearly a year and finally had surgery to correct it, which it only partially did (no reflection on the surgeon) so I entered the world of chronic pain management. It's not a pleasant place that can also be confusing. After a number of years with different providers I was unhappy with the results. Fortunately I was referred to Dr. Robert Savala in San Francisco and his assistant Dierdre Jo about 15 years ago for interventional pain management. Within no time it was apparent that I was dealing with the right people. My chief pain complaint was lower lumbar, from L-4 to S-1, with significant and crippling bouts of sciatic nerve problems. After a thorough evaluation we agreed that Transforaminal Epidurals were the most likely procedure to yield good results for me. The decision was made after a strong collaborative approach, where he listened to me outline my complex medical history for as long as it took, and he then thoroughly outlined possible approaches and we agreed on a course of action. I'm happy to say that the results were excellent, and every time I've run up against another episode we repeat that same process as needed and keep getting good results. Finally, as for collaboration, his assistant Dierdre Jo is a huge part of the process from start to finish, getting me in to see him and then into surgery centers as quickly as possible. People typically only write reviews if they're either really pleased or really not pleased, and that's true here. Real chronic pain is bad enough to live with, I've seen and been treated by the best, and I've never met anyone I'd rather work with than Dr. Savala and Dierdre Jo.

My Daughter cut her chin and needed stitches on a Sunday night, so we headed here after being sent by a Sutter Health urgent care center. The ER was hopping and we waited over three, nearly four, hours for the stitches. I get it, my Child wasn't dying--other patients took priority. The doctor who eventually performed the stitches was nice and efficient. The whole procedure took 15, maybe 20 minutes start to finish. Nine stitches to be exact. The shocker was the bill for over $2700. That's the rate with Blue Shield insurance (we have a high deductible plan) and we're on the hook for the full amount. I asked them for a review of the bill because it seemed so high (couldn't be right, right?) but nope, they came back to confirm that that's exactly what it should have cost. To be clear, that's just the facility fee from CPMC's emergency room. The doctor's bill was a separate change. I shudder to think what the bill would be if you actually needed an x-ray or some sort of diagnostic work up. Anyway, proceed with caution and check your insurance--the rates are here are sky high with no justification. Just because they can.

Well, let's count... 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8... 8! 1) One that took my blood pressure, temperature and weight and showed me my purple couture outfit with matching green socks to be worn during my stay 2) One that inserted the IV into my arm (single hit to my vein, thank goodness!) 3) One that asked me about my medical history and took notes on a computer like a secretary 4) One that introduced himself and assisted the doctor during my operation 5-6) Two more nurses that were in the operating room when I entered that room 7) One that helped me post-operation in the holding room 8) One that helped me post-operation in my waiting room that gave me pain meds, helped me change, took my blood pressure every 30 minutes, took my temperature a few times That's 8 nurses plus my doctor and an anesthesiologist = 10 A total of 10 people helped with my 3 hour operation in which I was at the hospital for a total of 8 hours (check-in, operation Jenny T. and recovery time). Each and every one of them were friendly, professional, and knew exactly what each had to do for me (or is it to me?). The facilities was typical of a hospital, yucky. The operating room, which I walked into with nurse #4 was surreal and 10x scarier than a brain surgery scene performed by Dr. McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy. I had an entire minute to soak in the sterile room before the anesthesiologist turned me into sleepy town. But overall, I'm so grateful that I had a great surgeon with excellent health care workers. I definitely felt well cared for. I must admit, I watch way too many Korean soap operas and evil thoughts of dramatic things happening to me made me all the more nervous. My tip to you, don't watch Korean soap operas prior to surgery because NO, your body will not swapped out for another. Think happy thoughts and know that you are getting well taken care of at this hospital.

Overall, it might be best to wait 1-2 years before I consider a true revision surgery. The consultation was expensive for me, but worth it anyway. Dr. Marten has a very calm, confident, sincere and gracious personality. This is a great match for me as I am a "concerned questioner" in this realm of plastic surgery, but I think this could be a natural trait when considering this type of surgery. I can sincerely say, I wish I had known about Dr. Marten before I had my surgery by another surgical team two years ago. The aftereffects of that expensive surgery left me on my own, and spending much more money to restore what I could. He flies under the radar, not advertising at all the way others do in the same field, simply because he does not have to. My consultation was scheduled out one year out from my first phone call, and I believe this is not unusual for Dr. Marten. He suggested a couple of future options and/or temporary or more minor improvements that could be made, but ultimately, was not pushing me to do anything soon and advised me to be very careful in my decision making at this point. He is kind and considerate of your feelings in this most personal type of surgery and gentle in his analysis of whatever has already been done. I must mention NANCY at the front desk and TIFFANY, his assistant. I was running late for this appointment I had waited a year for, due to unforeseen traffic collisions and delays on my way. I was driving in from quite a distance so felt stressed when I finally arrived, but they were both so sweet, I was able to relax. I would feel confident moving forward with him when the time is right.
