I was on back to back trips. Exactly the service I needed. Socks, underwear, shirts and t shirts. Collected the next day.

Speedy Wash

Speedy Wash was very clean and not crowded. Instructions were in French, Dutch, and English. The…read morepay machine gave change (I wasn't sure that it would). There was a little market nearby where I grabbed a sandwich and soda. I felt perfectly safe to leave my clothes while they were washing. Others were doing the same. But the highlight of my visit was the kindness of other customers (3 different men). One must have seen me looking a bit lost and tried his best to explain to me what to do next in French. Then a young man who spoke some English offered to let me use his detergent when he saw me about to purchase some. As I was folding my laundry, I had a pleasant conversation (in English) with a man who runs a local B&B. It was a delightful experience!

There's also a large press. Nothing else to do, really, but to leave and go to the bakery and cafes nearby then come back when your laundry needs to be transferred or picked up.

Charged me more than 600 euros to clean my curtains than came back after more than a week totaly distroyed. They have shrunk more than 10 cm both in lenght and width. Have become like cardboard and lost their shine. When contacting the management at De Geest about this I was rudely told it was my fault for having bought this type of cheap fabric (they just happen to be Osborne & Little by the way. Only 1600 Euro fabric not counting the confection) and were totally unwilling to recognize their error blaming it on the fabric producer. Thiey offered no compromise or solution. Sufice to say: Unless you look at being abused and have your stuff distroyed; Stay away!

I've had my share of laundry mats, but this one has definitely been one of the nicest ones granted…read moreI haven't a clue how it stacks up to other laundry mats in Brussels or Ixelles, however, I'll report on my 2 cents. Overall, Quality Wash was efficient for me. No need for coins exclusively since they have a checking system that takes the money using one teller machine you just have to choose the washer/dryer number at the check out. I think it's great since all the laundry mats I've ever been to have coin slots only and even though it's not a big deal it is slightly inconvenient turning all those bills into coins. Here they take bills, coins, and some cards. There is also a phone to call management in case the machine eats your money. Besides the machines that would obviously be here they have a press, a tiny (stress tiny) TV sitting area, and free wifi. There is also a vending machine with detergent and snacks.... oddly not separated. If you want a snack there is also a cafe & a small convience store within the same block. Machines weren't terribly big so if you have a lot you might be waiting awhile. There are two larger machines though for comforters or big loads. Kudos for also keeping the place clean. The first night we used it they had staff wiping machines down and general maintenance-- makes home seem barberic. Well, anyways, it's the cleanest laundry mat I've been in.

There's a money machine which allows you to pay for everything in one central location, including detergent and softener. Since we only speak English, we relied on the pictures for directions. There's also free wifi, so you have something to do as you wait for your laundry. It's slow. There's also cafes for food nearby. The cost of a load to wash and dry are rather pricey, but for a backpacker with the need for fresh clothes, it fit the bill.
