We…read morehad several homes to look at and several happened to be on a list of open houses when we were looking, so we met the local realtors handling them. Our realtor is from out of town. (due to this being a VA loan) One of the agents followed us out of a house we liked and told us what the owner's "bottom dollar" was. (this is highly unethical). We made an offer on the house, came to an agreement and signed a contract. We had a professional inspector (previously unknown to us and not chosen by us) who inspected the home which has been empty for over a year. He came back with a long list of repairs, the main one being a roof that is "uninsurable" due to hail damage. We asked for that and a couple of other items to be repaired and they agreed, but they also asked for a week extension on our option to have the roof inspected by a LOCAL roofer of THEIR choice who ALSO agreed that the roof needed replacing. The people at this point wanted their insurance company to inspect and due to scheduling, wanted another 3 week extension on the option. We sold our house the day it went on the market, so that is not an option for us. So another realtor with this company told our agent that if we'd offer the owners another $3000, they'd probably go through with the deal. WE HAVE A CONTRACT with these people and a signed amendment where they agreed to replace the roof! And this is also highly unethical for the agent. So today the owners came back and wanted US to pay their $4000 deductible to fix the roof. (As a side note, mortgager will not finance until the roof is replaced) I'll be filing a complaint with the TREC on Monday and we are now looking elsewhere for a home and I can assure you that it WON'T be a Trower listed home. You couldn't pay me to buy a home from these unethical, unprofessional people. And if you're considering 1205 S Nelson St, have the home inspected!!
