Great little hidden restaurant, the owners are great and are always up for a chat. The food is cheap, but you really do get excellent value for what you pay for. If you're looking to brunch it out with family and friends, give Miki's a try, I am sure everyone will enjoy it. You'll get the best dollar value if you stick to the menu ( no substitutes or extras) Also, ask about the specials he's got, they are different every week and homemade. :) Haven't tried their pizza yet - but definitely will in the not too distant future!

Busy lunchtime that died down after 3pm and was able to enjoy a bday lunch. My first time here. Had…read moreheard a lot about it. It's been here on Bell's Corners a long time. Quick thoughts... the space is older but nice. Paper napkin type place. Brunch ends at 3pm and then there is another menu. Continental meets Italian style dining with a little Italian style Market upfront. Service was professional, kind but minimal. Ordered was a Caesar salad with a grilled salmon filet added. Very healthy. The dressing was more of a vinaigrette served with lemon wedge. I did not eat the croutons, thats just me. They were ok. Salmon was well seasoned but was missing something, spice or a citrus sauce. I ate it all, as is. Light, light lunch. I never finish a dish and I did! Rolls came with my meal..they were just ok. Took them home! Nothing goes to waste on my table!! My company had the mushroom sandwich on focaccia. It came with a salad. She really liked it. The house white wine was quite good. We wore our coats for much of the visit as unfortunately, it was very cold in there and most seats are against the large windows. Dessert was offered but nothing was done extra for the birthday and that's ok. But good to note. We liked the stain glass art that hung and that was for sale. We also liked that we were not rushed out of there as my company had come from quite aways and we chatted for a bit. Water glasses never refilled though. I could see the cooks making the fresh linguine in the back for dinner service. Yum! I also met the owner. He was cordial. It didn't blow me away here but I'd like to try a pizza and a pasta item one day. I would recommend to others. Good location with plenty of parking. If you see one day on line that they are booked up re seating, call and they will take your reso that way as they likely have space.

Pasta Volare is a new, local business that runs out of a residence. I stopped my scroll when…read moremindlessly perusing Instagram because their fresh pasta just looked SO good. They change their menu weekly, every Sunday, which includes long pasta, short pasta, filled pasta, sauces, focaccia, and a meal kit with a mix of everything. This week's menu included: - Long pasta: Tagliatelle or pappardelle - Short pasta: Cavatelli or fusilli - Filled pasta: Scarpinocc di Taleggio e fungi (Taleggio cheese and mushroom) or tortellini quattro fromaggio (four cheese) - Sauces: Pomodoro (tomato based), Cornish hen ragu (tomato based), seasonal mushroom (cream based), Genovese pistachio pesto, or herb butter - Focaccia: Large or small - Tutti tipi di pasta: Kit including pappardelle, fusilli, scarpinocc, tortellini, seasonal mushroom sauce, Cornish hen rage, Genovese pistachio pesto, herb butter, and large focaccia The long and short pastas are 150 grams per portion and $7 each, the scarpinocc and tortelloni come in a pack of 12 and are $15 each, and each order of sauce is for two portions, varying prices between $5 and $15. The small focaccia is $5 and the large is $12. They take orders Sunday to Wednesday for Thursday to Saturday delivery or pickup. Pickup is free in Barrhaven after 3pm and delivery is $5 within a 10km radius from 3-5pm. They also advised that the fresh pasta is best enjoyed the day of order or the next day, and the filled pasta comes freshly frozen and can be kept up to two months in freezer. I have a real soft spot for fresh pasta, so knowing it was homemade locally and two types of pastas I had never tried before, and just being gluttonous and greedy ol' me, I ordered tagliatelle, cavatelli, scarpinocc, and tortelloni pastas, pomodoro, mushroom, pesto, and herb butter sauces, and a small focaccia. I basically customized my own kit and it came out to $89, a dollar cheaper than the tutti tipi di pasta one they had already put together. It was all just for me, not gonna lie. I ordered earlier in the week through a private message on their Instagram and they responded right away. They asked if I had any allergies, what my phone number was, and gave me the total price and e-mail address to send the e-transfer. I originally thought I would have it delivered since the charge was so cheap, but they sent me the address and I ended up picking it up instead. I picked it up and it came in two paper bags (with sweet thank you messages!), one for the cardboard boxes of pasta and the other for the plastic containers of sauces and the bread. There was also a little message on one of the bags to just put the pasta in the freezer and cook from frozen. It was super quick to pick up and I was really excited to get home. It was hard to decide which pasta to each for dinner tonight with which sauce, but I ended up going with the four cheese tortelloni and pesto. They also come with an instruction sheet on how to cook the pasta and incorporate the sauces, which I found very helpful. The tortelloni were made perfectly, just a little tangy, and not overly stuffed or heavy, perfect portion. The pistachio pesto was a touch bitter, also perfect and I licked the spoon multiple times before even mixing it with the pasta. I decided to try the focaccia just on its own and it was soft and moist with some salt. I warmed it up slightly in the toaster oven and used some of the herbed butter (which came in a huge, very generous portion). It was all exactly what I wanted, exactly what I expected, and so incredibly satisfying. Can't wait to try the other pastas and sauces (and finish all the focaccia)!

This was such a solid pizza spot. It was my first time trying Indian fusion pizza. If you've had…read morethe Pakistani fusion pizza at Al Raheem Grocery and Shinwari BBQ & Pizza Restaurant, it's definitely different from that. I was in the mood for a vegetarian snack, so I got a small shaahi paneer pizza. It came with Indian gravy, butter-marinated cottage cheese (paneer), onions, and bell peppers. You have the option of spice level - mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. My husband wanted to try it, but he's usually "a mild man", as he says, and I like more heat, so I got medium spice for something in between. The onions and peppers still had some crunch, which I really enjoyed. There was enough paneer and distributed evenly in medium-sized cubes throughout the pizza, about two cubes per slice for a small pizza. There was a good amount of mozzarella, too. There are important details for a cheese lover like me, haha. There wasn't too much gravy/sauce, but still very flavourful and nice spice, not too hot. The crust was thin but not too thin, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Such a great pizza! My husband enjoyed it so much that we ordered a large butter chicken pizza. It's the same as the shaahi paneer pizza, but with pieces of chicken thigh. The chicken was very tender and flavourful, though I have to say I think I enjoyed the paneer better. We also got paneer poppers, with six in an order. They were pieces of paneer marinated in mint-flavoured sauce, breaded with panko-style bread crumbs, and fried. They were crispy on the outside, soft inside, and also had good flavour with some spice. It wasn't heavy on the mint. It said creamy garlic sauce "onside" on UberEats, which for some reason I thought was a typo for "inside", but it really does mean creamy garlic sauce on the side. I wish I realized because I ordered creamy garlic sauce on the side with the pizza and it ended up being the pre-packaged Heinz dipping sauce that we then had two of. I had hoped it would be homemade. We'll order from here again for sure, but I want to try one of the homemade dipping sauces next time, like truffle green onion mayo.
