First time at this location and I wasn't impressed. Very messy store and the employees weren't the friendliest. Won't be back

This store sells pretty much everything - AND ALL FOR £1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more One British Sterling Pound. You can come in here, spend, say, £7, and walk out with a buttload of stuff that would cost way more in other stores. Granted, it is always PACKED in here (and normally with annoying people who bash into you) but it is worth it! This shop sells toiletries, household products (cleaning products, toilet paper etc), toys, stationary, food, drinks, gardening tools, car products, underwear, books....etc....etc...etc.... Plus, the stuff is not random, generic, weird stuff. They sell actual brands, for example, Charles Worthington hair products. The things that I would normally buy here: Toothpaste Make-up removing facial wipes (2 packs for £1!) Card-making kits Shampoo/Conditioner Party poppers Jiffy bags Hairspray Shower gel Batteries I also recently bought 2 tennis rackets and a set of tennis balls here which I am quite pleased with. I think that for £2 they will provide a lot of entertainment and tomfoolery in my garden this summer...

They have a lot of things which you can buy in Boots or Superdrug and as the name explains, everything for £1. If you're like me and have visited TJ Maxx stores in the US, you probably think the same as me. Higher prices and lower qaulity of goods. From my understanding, the reason that they are called TK Maxx in the UK and not TJ Maxx as in the US, is to do with another UK store chain called TJ Hughes. This store also sells discounted goods, and think the name change was to avoid confusion. This particular TK Maxx store does sometimes have a bargain though, which is why I go in when I'm passing. It is also one of the quieter branches too. The staock is also kept tidy and easy to navigate. It is much smaller though than the other nearest branch on Kensington High Street. The biggest difference between TJ Maxx in the US and TK Maxx in the UK, is I've found clothes I purchased 2 years ago from the US with the price tags still attached, because it was such a bargain! No such experience from the UK TK Maxx experience.

I have never understood why these are called TK Maxx here and not TJ. Can anyone tell me this? Let…read moreme know. I have known the TJ Maxx stores in the US and sadly the UK TK counterparts are nowhere near as good. The staff in the stores all seem to be somewhat undertrained and very passive towards their interaction with customers throughout most of UK stores. Nothing offensive from them, but definitely not a world beating service here. The main gripe I have about the TK stores are the prices. Generally in the USA. I've seen half decent stuff in the stores, and the prices make my eyes bug out with how low they are. It's pretty easy to fast decisions on close when they are so cheap that you don't have to make decisions about them. In the UK stores. However, I don't really see that much of a discount, certainly not below what you could actually get in a sale at a place like Selfridge's, for instance. So then. Why do I bother coming here? Well it seems to be the only place that I can get men's Zirh products from in the UK. And you know what? They actually do discount them pretty well. So I keep coming back and back and back in the hope that they have some of my precious Zirh!

It's the new chain of charity shops, and focusing entirely on wearable items. You can even pick used shoes here - not everyone's cup of tea, but becoming more and more acceptable. It's about 2/3rds for women, so finding something decent for guys is not so easy. Prices are obviously very low, but not quite as low as traditional charity shops. At least your cash is going somewhere good. I'm not sure I'll return, no matter how good the business model is. I didn't find it any better than a typical Oxfam and it's a far reach from the for-profit vintage/used clothing stalls in Camden. It's somewhere in the middle and until I blag a true bargain here I'll be recommending it, but not frequenting it.

Traid stands for "Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development". A worthy cause. More info can be found on their website. The actual stock in here varies from shop to shop and I've found that Traid on Uxbridge Road is one of the worst. I would rather just give the money to them direct instead of buying anything in here as the clothes are just awful and pretty much the same as any cheap charity shop. Not their best store, there aren't many in London but this one doesn't fit the bill...
