Terrible experience with billing and coding department. Screening labs coded as diagnostic and insurance did not pay due to coding. I have never had lab panels done every 2-3 yrs coded for diagnostic after a wellness appt. NEVER! Many calls, no resolution. read more

My wife's and I experience was with one doctor in their Red Canyon unit in Fruita. This was our first time seeking any medical services in the Grand Valley and we had annual physicals. While the woman doc was nice enough we didn't get the level of service we were used to in CA. There were two issues and no offsetting benefits. 1. After she received our blood tests she never discussed them with us. Our previous physicians call. Others tell me the same about the other doc there and that they are moving on also. 2. We were billed about $400 as new patients. We never agreed to this and have never experienced before. I'm a senior and my wife is getting close to that so we've been to a lot of physicians in several states as we moved around. We hate ambush health fees and never return for more. I'm surprised there wasn't also an undisclosed resort fee :-) We've had negative experiences with the Fruita hospital, Family Health West, and their billing. As with the administration of their Western Valley Family Practice just trying to get a first appointment. We're done with medical in Fruita and the PCP group. read more

Reviewing medical practices is a tricky business. But, I have so much confidence in this practice, I am happy to give it a try. Front office is very friendly, welcoming and professional. When I take my elderly mother in law, they are exceptionally kind and patient with her. She is a little scattered and they are very tactful as they work with her to check in. They allow me to help her, but make it clear that my mother in law is in charge of her own visit. I like that. When I check in, they are equally welcoming and we are able to move quickly through the process. Even though I am alway a little over-prompt (get there too early), the wait in the front area is never protracted. My doctor (Andrew Mohler) has a very good assistant (Lori) who gets me to the back and then checks my vitals and we chat about my reasons for being there. Dr. Mohler is a busy guy, but you wouldn't know it when he comes in the exam room. He is a gently and kind doctor, both with me and my mother in law. He doesn't just lay down the law - he listens (very important) and comes up with several options and talks pros and cons. You never feel pushed into choosing a medical option or that your concerns are ignored. They have an excellent patient portal on the web or you can (as my mother in law does) communicate just by phone. Your choice. Excellent practice with lab and x-ray on site. Docs on Call is downstairs for after hours and physical therapy is on the bottom floor. One stop shop except for pharmacy. read more

Appalling professional behavior! After being forced from my family doctor by a change in health insurance, Dr. Sullivan was the only family doctor available to me for the procedure I needed. Due to a busy field season and heavy work schedule, I was forced to cancel and reschedule several appointments. I thought finding a new doctor and time away from the office during a busy field season would be my biggest challenge, when I was surprised to receive a letter advising me that I had been blacklisted from the entire Primary Care Partners (PCP) organization for missing scheduled appointments. As a professional, I make a point of keeping appointments or canceling them if schedules change. Despite having personal notes and phone records to show that I had canceled these appointments within the specified grace period, Dr. Sullivan's office asserted that I had missed an appointment. Though they acknowledged that I had canceled two appointments, and I could contradict their record of a missed appointment, Dr. Sullivan chose to persist in his office's unfounded decision. I would have found this ridiculous situation amusing, except my blacklisting from the PCP organization also included my entire family. If I had missed the appointment, I would have owned the mistake, and would not have persisted. Expecting a similar degree of integrity from Dr. Sullivan and his office after their mistake was where I went wrong. read more

Had appointment. They were nice. Talked about meds and anxiety and some more. Got to my pharmacy and all the meds were doubled. I start having an anxiety attack while calling them to try to figure it out. They proceeded to inform me of a conversation that never happened (my wife was sitting right there) and then started treating me like fecal matter after saying I was lying and then they discontinued my service with them siting that I was screaming and cursing at them (I was not though I did get a little loud at one point) arranging and getting stories straight between three different people in their office and then began to even treat me as not even a person when they asked about my insurance... Medicaid. They are nice to your face but they really don't actually care and now have lost a client for life. AND they now get the most negative reviews I can give anywhere an everywhere I can find to review them. Way to drop the ball. read more

I had the most horrible experience! Doctor Czapla didn't even treat me like a person. In the midst of trying to explain my pain, she told me that the numbness in my fingers wouldn't be caused by the excruciating pain that was happening in the middle of my back. Feeling like she wasn't taking me serious, like I was there just to get pain pills. I started to tear up cause I was in a lot of pain. She made me feel dumb for feeling the pain I was experiencing. As I am crying, and trying to communicate with her what my problem is again. She interrupts me and asked me, who has been refilling my hormone pills. Like me getting upset, was because I wasn't taking my pills to level me out. I told her, I am upset because I am in pain and I don't feel you are taking me serious. I told her my women doctor refills them. She made me feel like I was getting upset cause of my hormones not because of the pain I was feeling. She wasn't talking my pain seriously. I came to her for help and I left her office crying. I called the office as I was leaving and left a complaint of service. I received a bill for $232.83. Her office visit and x-ray. I called the Primary Care Partners billing to explain what happened, because I had a hard time swallowing paying her $174.42 for a service that left me leaving her office cry. I was told by billing, that the office manager is the only one who can give a reduced the rate of service. Billing called me back today and said the office manager talked to Doctor Czapla, and they aren't going to do anything with the bill to make things better for the horrible professional behavior I received. Please don't go to this facility!!!! If they aren't willing to make a situation better for someone who was extremely mistreated treat, this facility doesn't deserve your service. It is not hard to treat people as people. I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. We all deserve better than what Primary Care in Grand Junction has to offer. read more

Today I had a checkup appointment at Primary Care Partners and I was running late because I had a meeting before. I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes late from the scheduled time. When I went up to the front desk, the lady greeted me and made numerous comments about my timeliness and how I was late. She wasn't at all welcoming. She was condescending and disrespectful and no patient should be treated like this woman treated me today. I am aware that people live their own lives and they have problems of their own, but why ruin someone else's day when you have control over what you say and act towards other people? I ended up having to reschedule my appointment for later that day. During my appointment, my Physician and Nurse were both very nice and welcoming. The only reason I will give this review 2 stars and not 1 is because of how great my Physician and Nurse were today. Every time I've gone to this doctors office before, I've waited in the waiting room for a minimum of 5 minutes. The irony is that as a patient I am expected to wait for at least 5 minutes, but as a doctor when a patient is 5 minutes late they have to reschedule. This policy is ridiculous and unnecessary. Overall, if you take anything away from this review, just keep in mind that even if you're having a bad day or things aren't going your way, you have the choice to keep that trend going and pass it on to other people, or to be nice to others and treat them with respect. read more

I recently moved to Grand Junction, and had to select a new healthcare provider. PCP has consistently exceeded my expectations in regard to their staff and service. Dr. Hulst, in particular, has proven to be attentive, responsive and knowledgable...and VERY personable, too. In fact, all of the staffers that I have encountered there have been very professional and compassionate. I like that I can access my records online, too. The ONLY caveat (and it is a slight one), is that the facilities are a little chopped up, and can be hard to navigate for first-timers. Other than that MINOR complaint, I recommend PCP! read more

Moving back to the area has been met with terrible challenges in health care. I called the Primary Care Partners because I was experiencing dangerously high blood pressures. I called the office and explained my situation and was asked for my insurance company coverage and where I worked. I was told it would take up to 2 weeks to get a response if the office could accept me as a new patient. I was asked again where I worked and I then told them I also worked per diem as a nurse at St Mary's. I was then informed that PCP accepts all St Mary's employees as patients. That was the first red flag because I shouldn't receive preferential treatment based on where I work. I was seen the next day by Dr. Sturges who was very short with me and rushed. I have an extensive and complicated medical history and give my physicians a detailed printed list of my medical history. I received a prescription for a blood pressure med with a six month refill and no follow-up recommended. I also requested a prescription for a sleeping medication for a chronic sleep disorder and was told that he does prescribe anything that can be addicting. I showed him that I have been on this medication for years without a problem. He restated he would not prescribe anything for pain or sleep disorders. The next week I called for an appointment for a severe cold. I instructed the office that I would not see Dr Sturges again and an appointment was made with his nurse practitioner. After seeing the NP she ordered a chest x-ray and blood work. The next day I received a call about my chest x-ray and they instructed me that they lost my blood work. I was also instructed that the NP didn't think it was a bacterial infection because the chest x-ray was clear. I asked how she could determine that without my blood work and received no legitimate answer. A week later I received a call from the physician office instructing me that they somehow they found my blood work and could not give me an explanation. The office asked if I needed an antibiotic. I told them no but by afternoon I was getting worse again. I called the office and was told the NP was not in until today. I spoke with the NP this afternoon who would not give me an antibiotic after explaining my current symptoms. I have been a nurse for 28 years and I know my body and the illnesses that I have experienced. The NP could not explain the lost blood work and requested that I come in for another visit with the physician. I have already stated that I would not see that physician again and based on my symptoms and the "found" blood work showing that I had an elevated white count I needed antibiotics and not another $150 visit because they lost my results showing that I had a bacterial infection. I am now searching for another physician and very disappointed in what Grand Junctions healthcare has become. I would give them a zero star if I could. read more
