They told me the error code was because they booted it wrong. Nope. 3 strikes. I drove away with my hydraulic lift table, my wrenches, and my cash. I did not leave my number. (The free wine doesn't hurt, either.) I've seen pieces sell for $50, and I've seen them sell for $100,000 - it's incredibly eclectic, and always a wild ride. My house has been furnished almost completely by my A&O auction wins, and I get so many compliments about the pieces I've found there - I'm always sort of hesitant to let people in on my secret (you're all potential bidding competition!), but honestly, this auction house deserves all the praise they can get. They have excellent standards, their people are wonderful, and their selection of art and antiques is unparalleled. That said, this is one of those rare gems where they offer true antique pieces at "regular folk" prices. The staff is both entertaining and knowledgeable. They also move fast enough to get us through the ( endless supply of) items. One of the most disappointing things that can happen at an auction is to have your heart set on a piece only to have the auction end prematurely due to time constraints. Hogansville is a lovely small town that I am partial to, as this is where I was born and raised. Having just moved back to the area from a location where fantastic auction houses abound, I wasn't too sure that my old hometown could hold a candle. They did just fine. Stop by if you get the chance. I really don't mind the competition. In fact, I kind of like it.
