Dr. Poggi is kind, honest, trustworthy, and professional. He does exceptional work and sincerely cares about his patients. (My consults were never rushed, and he was thorough in answering my questions and addressing any/all concerns). Dr. Poggi isn't "all about the money," but genuinely wants you to be confident in your decision to move forward. He did not pressure me AT ALL and encouraged me to wait if I was confused or conflicted about surgery. Dr. Poggi is extremely intelligent (yet humble and down to earth). His sense of humor makes time conversing with him even more enjoyable. I trusted his judgment and expertise 100% with my surgeries, and was thoroughly pleased with my results. I even drove 3 hours to see him, thinking nothing of it because he is THAT GOOD.....definitely worth "going the distance!" Initially, I…read morewas surprised as I had gone to two other nationally recognized ophthalmologists who specialized in LASIK and both told me I was a perfect candidate. Both of the other doctors missed that I had a history of severe dry eyes whereas Dr. Patel knew from just a 10 minute eye exam. I ended up getting PRK and on the day of my surgery, I was guided through all my questions, concerns, and given detailed instructions on what to do post surgery and what to expect during recovery. The surgery was surprisingly quick and painless. I was given a goodie bag with drops and lubricant. I followed the directions (use the lubricant liberally!) and although the first couple days were painful and I mostly slept, I could see decently in about a week and almost perfectly within 2-3 weeks. It's been nearly a year from my surgery and I can't begin to tell you much my life has improved without glasses. I'm so glad I listened to Dr. Patel's advice for PRK because even though the recovery time was longer, I have zero issues with dry eyes. I've never felt more appreciated and cared for at any other doctor's office than at WVI.

No one ever asked me that but I did share it with Whitney as we started. I asked for a landing strip and it was off center to the left. Also, there was a lot of hair left and at least one fairly large chunk of wax left. This was not what I was expecting. While I was on the table, someone came and knocked on the door. They knocked softly several times, and then become a bit more persistent with their knocking, and then actually cracked the door. I was wondering if they were just going to walk in. Whitney was of course, engaged in her work, then when the door opened she did leave what she was doing, went to the door, had a brief conversation, and then returned. After that, she worked in a rushed manner a bit longer and then began to wrap up. She actually removed her gloves and she had not at that point had me lift my left leg to my chest to complete the back of my leg/ rear area on that side. She had done this to the right, so I was a bit confused. I asked her, as I made a motion to grab my left knee and raise it to my chest, are you not going to do the same to the back of this leg. She then apologized and put some new gloves back on and completed that. The whole experience was unprofessional. I would never return for any services, nor would I ever refer anyone. I work hard for my money and am also in a profession where I am expected to please clients. I feel like I simply threw $90 (with a tip) down the drain and frankly, that is not something I am happy about, to say the least.
