That March, I started an archiving/postroom temporary assignment at a private investment bank through ROC/Temps-Online which proved to be one of my best jobs ever and lasted for 17 months. I won their Temp of The Month prize once. In more recent times, following the credit crunch, I've had short term assignments but I'm enjoying the variety to be honest. A media company that Temps-Online introduced me to in February 2006 call me in directly from home and I fax over my timesheet to the agency. I've completed over a year's work since 2006 on and off with this media company. Jools Lambe is lovely! They also have Christmas parties for their temps. I usually get on with their clients although I've had a couple of bookings that I would not have stayed at because I didn't like the bosses (but fortunately these bookings were only for a few days anyway). Pay rates are average and I have been paid on time nearly always.

One of their consultants rang me, saying she had found my CV online and would like me to go in and register. I went in at the time and date she decided (this bit is important). Well, I arrived and it was friendly enough. The receptionist was very nice, she checked my right to work and took a photo of me just for our records. She then gave me lots of forms to fill in which I started. The receptionist showed me an area with sofas where other job applicants were filling in forms too. I had only just started when my consultant came in, said hello, but then took the forms from me unfinished because she said there wasn't time to bother with all that because she was in a hurry. She then took me to an interview area with more sofas, asked me a couple of questions about my journey and where I lived, then said it was nice to meet me but she had to go to lunch now. I thought this was extremely rude and unprofessional, especially as SHE chose the time and date, and I had paid all my travel costs on the tube and train. I have emailed a couple of times but they have never been back in touch. I think they were well out of order and I wouldn't recommend them from this experience.

Now usually when recruitment agencies call you up they just want to get you on the books and a lot of the time you wont hear from them again. But Adecco were great, I literally went in did a quick computer test and they sent me on my way to my new temp job which i started the next day. The only think I found annoying was that you had to fax your time sheet instead of emailing it but maybe that has changed now. Highly recommended if you are looking for a job.

A waste of time as a recruitment agency. I was contacted by them, asked to come in and register…read morewhich I did, spent a whole morning filling out paperwork, going through details of the kind of jobs I was interested in, providing references, ect. They were very positive and promised to contact me as soon as possible. A month went by and I had not heard anything. I made several attempts to contact someone at the agency to see about the possibilty of getting work and I was only told I would be contacted when a suitable position came up. I've spent the last five years working in various administrative office positions, so I have quite extensive clerical, secretarial and receptionist experience but I got no support or help from this job agency. After several more weeks I was contacted and offered an assignment of handing out leaflets on the street corner for £7/hr, which I declined. That was the last I've heard from them. Subsequently, I registered with another job agency and found full time work within two weeks. My advice is if you are serious about finding a job, do not look at Attic Recruitment for being any help at all. They are quite honestly a joke.
