As a college student that goes to a really well known college around the area that's sort of self…read moreexplanatory, I went to this barber shop to get a haircut after not having a haircut for about five months at that point. I chose this particular barber shop because it had really great reviews, and it was considered one of the highest rated in the area, so I was interested in seeing how the service goes. When I stepped in, it was smaller than expected. I saw around a few seats or so, but the atmosphere felt quiet and minimalist, but really warm and welcoming. It wasn't just how things were decorated and designed, the two barbers that were there, Jaclyn and Fallan, were really, really welcoming. As I waited for about ten minutes or so, they were each cutting a customer's hair, and they had lengthy, very personalized conversations with them. It wasn't just casual, it felt almost like they were talking to their best friend, especially in the way Jaclyn engaged in the conversation. From overhearing those conversations and the way they treated them as customers, it is really clear that they very much care, and they really love their job. It's also clear that the two customers that were there were long time customers, and they seemed pretty happy being there. The barber that I got was Fallan. From the very first time I sat in that chair, she asked me what my name was and she introduced herself to me without even asking. That warmth and thoughtfulness extended to even new customers like myself. Fallan had a sort of friendly restraint in the way she spoke with me and I really like that, because I am naturally a more shy and quiet person. The other barber, Jaclyn, who I think is the owner, was absolutely welcoming and so inviting. She asked me a lot of questions about who I am, not only as a customer, but about my background and experiences as a person. She sounded genuinely curious to know more about me, and it was really nice, since Fallan did a great job cutting my hair consistently short, and Jaclyn was consistently conversational and nice the entire way through as I was getting my haircut. I knew that this place had high ratings, and I definitely know why just based on even my first experience. However, even then, I was surprised at how nicely and welcoming they treated me. I thought of it as unusual, but a feeling and experience that I very much accept and welcome because of how thoughtful and friendly it was. If you do want to be treated really well and have incredibly nice and skilled barbers cutting your hair, do consider this barber shop. It still feels somewhat surreal that they were that friendly, and it was only the two of them there.

Parking was widely open on Main and I was seated only a couple of mins before I was seen. Overall a great experience! I don't know that stylists get enough credit for being on their feet and using their hands all day while having to maintain a sunny disposition (despite whatever they may have to manage in their personal life and/or the myriad of oddities they likely have to endure at the hands of clients).... the salon here certainly deserves that acknowledgment. My visit to Tonic was a truly refreshing break from the hectic realities of life to thanks to their upbeat, welcoming environment with a very genuine and engaging stylist (who heard exactly what I wanted and delivered it!). It is clear that Allison seems takes great pride in her work and emulates a strong confidence in her approach (seems well deserved!). Equally skilled and engaging, Allison was a true pleasure to spend time with and be styled by. I hope the very best for her in the year ahead. Another facet of this visit that stood out to me was the very clear affinity the stylists seem to have for one another with frequent shared laughs and dialogue. Melissa 1st cut my hair when she was working at Union Rd in Cheektowaga. After she was promoted and moved to Sheridan Dr in Amherst,I had to follow her. She is the only one who cut my hair the actual way I wanted it. Since then we've grown close as stylist/client. She treats me with respects,greets me with enthusiasm, and has conversations with me as if we've known eachother forever. We've even gotten to know a little about eachothers families,shared vacation stories and just talked about anything and everything. I really hope that as long as I have hair to cut,she will be there to cut it for me. Moved back to the area recently and started wearing a flattop.. not a cut that every barber has mastered. Based on two reviews, I gave them a shot on a whim on a Saturday. Minimal wait time, and I got David. He has cut lots of flats, but even admitted that Laura is the "Flat top queen". Well if that's the case, he's at the very least the "Duke" because he did an outstanding job. Was very thorough to get it standing up straight before he began cutting (always a good sign) and then I would bet he cut it at least three times to get it perfect. I was thrilled. To my surprise, he wasn't satisfied with how my cowlicks were looking in the back, so he had Laura tag in to get it extra perfect... where do you ever see someone 1) admit they could do better and 2) ask for help. I was blown away... and as I told them both "you could have fooled me, I thought it looked great before!" It was perfectly cut and perfectly flat. Will definitely return and both David and Laura are incredibly skilled with flattops. Highly recommend. Cut was $20, a bargain for the time and effort he put in.

I told her what I wanted and she completely understood. A lot of barbers either don't listen or do just an ok job. But the finished work by Laura was flawless.
