There is an xray unit but this is only open at certain times so more often than not you will have to visit the larger Kent and Sussex hospital in Tunbridge Wells. Their main focus is care for the elderly who are recovering from illness/injury which means they can stay nearer to home. I had all my ante-natal care here during my first pregnancy and the midwives were fantastic. There is also free parking in the hospital car park which is a rare thing!

Over the last few decades, Brighton's flagship hospital has had so many extensions and new buildings attached to it that it now resembles a maze. I usually go in through the main entrance and find myself leaving an hour later, through a completely different exit on a different level and different wing. I've tried asking porters, nurses, doctors and complete strangers for directions and nine times out of ten, the only directions they can give is to follow the complicated Way Out signs. Of course, I think it's amazing that England still had hospitals like Royal Sussex - where you can go for free treatment, MRI scans, surgery and advice. I'm all for the NHS and health-care for everyone. I'd just like someone, somewhere to design a decent, colour-coded guide and some clear signage that allows people to navigate their way through Royal Sussex.

I was told it was a walk in system, so I went straightaway. The staff were all lovely. Very efficient. Everything running exactly as you would hope. There seemed to be a constant flow of patients, but not overwhelmed. I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment I received, and the people delivering it. Sadly, they lack the same enthusiasm with their Admin staff ie poor communication with appts, and, what appeears to be poor understanding and reading of patients notes. However, once through the initial stages, you will find your Consultant extremely competent. Spacious waiting area, and well lit. Tea bar within, but not inexpensive. Two toilets , both with disabled access and facilities. Limited paid car parking immediately outside.
