Me and my friend tried to take a guitar off the wall and got asked to leave in a passive aggressive tone out of nowhere.

I have been buying musical instruments, studio equipment and music books for myself and my recording studio from Promusica in Cork City since 2004. I have found that all of the people who have looked after me for years, still treat me with great respect and care. I have spent may thousands of Euro with Promusica over all of these years and it doesn't matter if I "pop" in for a couple of Mic. cables or a 1,500 Euro synthesizer, the service and care is excellent. I just carried out my first on-line purchase of a very large MIDI controller keyboard and the transaction was as smooth as ever. Thank you Promusica, Owen, Eileen, Eileen Madden and Luke. P.S. My involvement with the music Business included being involved in the production of a number 1 hit record "Tell Me Ma" by the band called "SHAM ROCK" in 1988/89. read more

two male staff at electric guitars upstairs came off arrogant ,rude and very unhelpful.I didnt feel as if i was wanted as a customer in their company, luckily a nice girl downstairs helped me with an acoustic. so saved it from a one star, don't recommend going for an electric guitar but staff handling acoustics downstairs particularly that girl, i forget her name apologies are nice. its a quaint well decorated and put together shop, overall happy with my purchase. read more

This shop is the reason I prefer buying in store than online. It is my first port of call when I ever need anything music related. Be it equipment, information, advice or just the chance to pick up a few guitars and play, Pro Musica have always been ready to assist me in any way that they can. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. They have often gone the extra mile to help me when I needed it most. I recommend Pro Musica to musicians of all standards and levels. My first instrument was bought here more than twenty years ago and my most recent purchase too. Keep up the good work! read more

Rude staff. They ignore you, until you pick up an instrument on your own and then they treat you like a naughty child. I came in with €1000, just had a lay day, looking for a Fender of some kind, a Christmas present for my son. Horrible attitudes all of them. I'll be buying online from now on. read more

Friendly, knowledgeable staff who offered really helpful advice. Made sure the purchase was right for me (rather than trying to upsell). Good range of instruments in stock. read more

Great choice of instruments, very patient staff. I visited the place on multiple occasions to try out a Takamine guitar I was after, and they never complained against me playing and not buying. Finally I decided to buy and they offered a great deal adding a hard shell; they also went to great lengths to get the particular guitar model I wanted from their supplier, and regularly called me to update on progres. Recommended :) read more

The employees, at least upstairs in the guitar section, are absolutely horrendous. They don't acknowledge you are even there, and it seems like a chore to spend money there. I have never heard anything good about the place, despite it being the only local shop to buy gear. I normally do my shopping online anymore due to the way you're treated when walking in. And they make sure to get every cent out of you, despite having a policy to match online prices. So if you HAVE to go shop there due to time constraints, get in and out quickly. If you can avoid going in there, shop online. read more

Eileen Madden has run Pro Musica since 1982. She opened it 32 years ago, taking over from McCullough Pigots, after they decided to let their Cork operation go. She had worked there since 1980 and decided to take over the business, even though everyone said I was mad. 1982 was no better a year economically than 2013 is but Pro Musica is still going strong. It has succeeded by creating the right environment to try and get people in to buy instruments, and by keeping prices down.
