I can't say enough great things about my experience at ProPT. When I first came in, I was dealing with severe lower back pain caused by long hours of desk work, and it was seriously limiting my ability to train and enjoy workouts. Thanks to the incredible team at ProPT, I'm now much stronger, in little to no pain, and back to weight lifting, daily walks, and workouts that I truly enjoy again. One thing I really appreciate about ProPT is that they don't take shortcuts. This is not a place where you show up, get a quick treatment, and leave in 30 minutes. They take the time to teach you proper movements and exercises, explain the "why" behind them, and make sure you're doing them correctly. You absolutely have to put in the work to get better--but that's exactly why it works. Because of the right movements and targeted exercises to strengthen my muscles, I walked away not just with less pain, but with a stronger, more resilient body and a much better understanding of how to move safely and confidently. Can I give this place a 10? I can't believe I waited this long to do a review. John Santos and his crew are without a doubt the best PT clinic I've ever been to. John helped me through one of the toughest experiences of my life, my first knee replacement.(I had started at a different clinic before I met him Let's just say it didn't work out) I had complications and he got me through it. And then he got me through my second one too. I've been to a few physical therapy clinics since then for other Issues and NONE Come even close to his care. He cares about his patience like none other. He goes above and beyond to do the Best work. I can't recommend this clinic enough. I just wish my insurance covered visits at his clinic now. Pro PT has been amazing for my back issues having three surgeries. I have been going to them off and on over the last 9 years. I will go there the rest of my life to deal with the muscle issues I have from my last surgery. They provide me with a deep tissue massage in painful injury areas, ultrasound, and different weekly circuit training workouts to strengthen all of my body. I couldn't even barely move when I began there in no time I've been out walking trails, light hiking, dancing thins I was not able to do anymore. John Santos and his ProPT staff are caring and highly educated in what is required to return their patients to full range mobility no matter the injury. John's knowledge as to body mechanics is impressive - and he is sharing his extensive understanding with his under-studies, who themselves share his passion for providing their patients with their return to physical health and strength. I had nine visits and would have liked to have had more and would have if Medicare was not so parsimonious with payments and resort to pulling reimbursements from the provider if they do not agree with the patients progress, which by the way has nothing to do with the pain the patient may be experiencing, but whether or not they are scarcely physically functional. I continue with the exercises John has shown me for my total knee replacement and am sincerely appreciative of this physical therapy provider's care. I highly recommend ProPT. This is a continuation since my last review... 2 months ago I had sciatica L5 & L4 nerve pinch. after my epidural injections I was assigned a PT in the Laguna Hills area. My insurance co-pay was terrible, and they did not do 1/10th (NO JOKE) of the services Pro PT offers; NO deep tissue massage, NO dedicated trainer to supervise my progress, NO TENS treatment! Nope, just 1 hour of very similar stretching exercises that John had already gave me from the car collision/recovery last year and a terrible location to park at to boot! I called John at Pro PT, told them my situation and my displeasure at the other PT place; John said he could work with the co-pay as is with a tiny adjustment! Tomorrow will be my last of 10 visits, and I KNOW John's team has made real noticeable improvements in my range strength and flexibility. Incredible training staff. John is more than a physical therapist. You are welcomed into the Pro Pt family once attending. I was fortunate enough to play soccer at the collegiate level and I can honestly say my time and experience at Pro Pt was much better than my collegiate provided physical therapy. Pro PT is amazing! I was recommended to come here by my home health therapist about 8 weeks ago, and this place has changed my life! I'm 26 yrs old and I broke my hip back in march. When I came here I had a pretty bad limp and I couldn't walk upstairs by taking consecutive steps. Ever since I came here my recovery has progressed beyond expectation! I am walking without any crutch, I can walk upstairs like normal, and my walk has gotten so much better. I come twice a week and I have seen a world of difference in getting my strength back. I never held much belief in physical therapy. Was I wrong! After getting an MRI and a diagnosis of spinal stenosis, my doctor said my first line of treatment should be to try physical therapy. I was doubtful of any success but again, was I wrong, and I am so happy I found ProPT. John Santos is so knowledgeable and his primary concern is about his patients recovery and well being. He listened carefully to everything I was dealing with. He examined my MRI and developed a series of exercises for me that would help build strength and flexibility to help alleviate the pain from my stenosis making me able to function. The stenosis will never go away, but John explained to me that I need to manage it, both physically and mentally. He taught me correct body mechanics and how to pay close attention to what my body is telling me. I've exercised all my life and it has been difficult for me to change the way I approach exercise and to tone it down so as not to cause myself more pain. With John's guidance and the help from his staff, I'm learning a whole new way to function and am very happy with the results. His incredibly friendly, happy, funny, and easy going staff welcomed me in and I could tell had nothing but my well being in mind. This is my second time using ProPT. The whole crew is very professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. They spend time evaluating your ailment and then design a personalized program of recovery for you; checking in with you as time passes to see how your progress in the therapy and on your own is going and what needs work. As you progress they up the intensity and always always change it up which is something I am really bad at in my own workouts. I can't say that physical therapy is fun, but I do know that it is good for you and eventually the hard work pays off with the progress sometimes slowly happening...just remember how you first came in for therapy and where you are now. We first came to Pro PT in 2005 when my husband was rehabbing his dislocated shoulder, and again in 2015 for aggravating an old football injury. Now it was my turn to come in after a broken ankle and subsequent surgery. This place is phenomenal. Super clean, very professional, and VERY good at what they do. My surgeon has been blown away with my progress, and John is able to fine tune every part of my recovery, noticing even small gait issues my surgeon missed. The entire staff makes sure I am performing all the exercises correctly and interns collaborate so well with the more seasoned staff that nothing is missed. Gerri is a breath of fresh air at the front desk with a warm smile and genuine concern for you. I will really miss my fun torture time with them when I'm released from therapy soon. :) Highly recommend for some serious knowledge and guided rehabilitation! read more

She checked with John who slid me in between appointments and took an in depth look at my knee and nailed the cause and effect and started working my rehab. I have had a litany of issues over the years that have brought me to several different physical therapist offices. Of those, ProPT by far has the best practices and patient consideration. They focus on the idea of whole body health to help not only fix the issue but to prevent future injuries. My experiences with physical therapy have covered 35 years and more therapy offices than I care to remember. I have pursued ones in South O.C. that came with with the highest recommendations. In time, Pro PT was recommended to me, and I am delighted to have found them. Even my husband will go see them -- on his own! We have both recommended them to other appreciative friends. Most important about Pro PT is the knowledge and level of attention that John Santos and James Miller give to the conditions of their patients. By coincidence, my original care was primarily with John, and that continued until my knee replacement. I requested James for my in-home physical therapist because he also works in that arena. After consultation with several medical professionals and no clear solution we determined an interim course of pain management employing Physical Therapy. Considering the limiting factors John developed an alternate approach. The circumscribed course of therapy is providing relief where the prescribed solution at this point is too extreme. Dr. Santos and his staff helped me regain what I thought I was never going to have again. I was left with a compound fracture on my wrist after my motorcycle accident that was surgically repaired. I've been going to Pro PT for personal training sessions with John Santos for over eight years. He and his staff are very knowledgeable, very professional and make working out fun! I have nothing but most respect and admiration for John and Gerri! My teenage daughter has been a patient of John's twice in less than 6 months for two completely different injuries. The first time was last fall for knee pain that had been previously misdiagnosed. John did an evaluation and was able to give an accurate diagnosis. Within 2 weeks of her 2 month treatment my dancer was dancing pain free! Just 2 weeks ago she was in a minor car accident and suffered from whiplash. He saw her that day and 5 treatments later, she is "at the edge of the woods" and will be able to perform next week! Before receiving physical therapy at Pro PT, I had been dealing with chronic pain and discomfort due to a permanent injury that was becoming a harsh burden to live with after over 2 years, along with my complete inability to sleep. I had to retire from the military and stop participating in hobbies I had previously enjoyed. After receiving treatment here, my pain was lessened, sleep was improved, and my life finally started to lift off of the rock bottom I found myself in. This led to my decision of actually pursuing a career in physical therapy. John Santos went so far as to give me a job as an aide, which helped me to understand the many difficulties of being a physical therapist and running your own business simultaneously. I eventually realized that the toll on my body was too much to bear personally, and I would need to find another way to help people. Physical therapy with John was not an easy path and took a few tough weeks to truly notice the results, but determination, along with John's knowledge, encouragement, and willingness to do anything in his power to help brought me to be in the best physical and mental shape of my entire life. Remarkably, I was even able to start rock climbing, which is something I had previously thought impossible with injuries like winging scapula and a long thoracic nerve palsy. John is not only the most talented, experienced, and intelligent physical therapist I have ever had the pleasure of being a patient of (I am close to being on physical therapist number 10), but he is also one of the most caring individuals I have ever known. It took me 4 previous therapists that failed to help, before I was able to find John and his team of kind and brilliant employees and associates, including James who was required to move on for personal reasons. I would still be coming here years later, if not for a lack of time, resources, and change in location. I 100% highly recommend coming here for your treatment. I was in a car accident where I was rear ended which ultimately lead to me getting a bad case of whiplash. My doctor prescribed PT for my injuries and since I was spending the summer in Mission Viejo with my dad he highly recommended I seek treatment from John at PRO-PT. Both my dad and aunt have gone to him and they were raving about this place. I am absolutely happy with my decision and absolutely refuse to seek treatment in San Diego(where I live most of the time). Every time I come in everyone there treats me like family.
