The best by far is their tangos! A small donut shaped fruit, which can almost be described as a mix of a peach and a mango. Nonetheless, it is absolutely delicious. They have lots of other produce as well, and very decently priced! Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable too. It's a smaller selection for certain things than a larger grocery store, but has seasonal surprises too like pomegranate, 2 rows of apples, acorn and butternut squash, tofu, lychee and various berries throughout the season, etc. Suntan peppers bigger than my hand, 3 for $1! Squash for 49 cents EACH. Cauliflower head that probably weighed as much as my own for $3 Even at Eastern Market, it's $1 at least for those! And the veggies might be smaller or only last 3-5 days. While Joe may not be selling organic fruits and vegetables, they do keep well in the fridge. So I can keep a stocked fridge for half the price of other big grocery stories. Joe's also has ample parking in a private lot. Definitely worth the trip for me when I need a lot of groceries. One of Detroit's little gems and best kept secrets!
