Beware. Incompetent and predatory business practices. Over the course of almost 2 months, I had four different visits by four different technicians to solve the same problem. The problem was never resolved. Each technician diagnosed the root problem as something different, with each solution having an increase in cost to resolve the issue. They attempted to charge me $1,800 to run a single wire for a single zone. When digging to bury the wire, they dug directly along a newly poured concrete pad, chipping it in several areas, and undermining some of the gravel below it. The wire was not trenched into the ground and only buried approximately one inch below the soil. In some areas, the wire was not buried at all and lying on top of the ground. I called another company to look at the issue. The other company resolved the issue the same day at a much lower cost. The $1,800 wire Pro Outdoor poorly installed was not part of the problem and was not needed. The wire was removed and when doing so it was found that Pro Outdoor had several sections of buried wire duct taped together. I attempted to contact a manager multiple times. Each time I was assured someone would be in contact with me. I was ignored and never heard from anyone. read more

When they came to install it turned out to be a day of downpours which followed a few days of such. The ground was so saturated but they sat in trucks and waited to start most of the day. Got started then another down pour came and had to stop. So piles of heavy mud were left all over my yard overnight. It wiped out several areas of my nice lawn. To their credit the manager was responsive and came out and looked at it though it took some time. They did actually aerate and overseed to help repair areas and it came in good. So while they made a huge mess doing the job in weather they shouldn't have, they did fix it up. Latest issue though - I just wanted to redo edging in a rock area next to drive way. Would need to set the edging in some and some stakes in deeper. Wanted to be careful not to hit lines so I texted to find out if we worked in this part of the driveway where the rock bed is could we hit any lines or anything. Their answer was that they really didn't know and couldn't mark where the actual lines ended up. They sent me the plan eventually but said they may have deviated from this significantly. I could understand how that could happen if ran into roots or rocky area in ground but I would certainly think you would document significant deviations from the plan. Apparently installers are free to do that wherever they choose and not required to note it. Now they are telling me if I want to plant a tree or dig anywhere on my property they cannot 100% guarantee I won't hit a line even if I am feet from where the plan says the line is. So all utilities by law have to come out and mark where their lines go but the irrigation company can say we really have no idea where they actually are... and cannot mark where they actually are w certainty. This is unacceptable to me as I want to plant trees and such in my yard but now cannot rely on the plan, according to them, to know I won't hit lines. This seems to me a terrible business practice. I realize it would take a little more time but I would want to be able to document for my company and customer that I had to significantly deviate from the plan and where. So anyone considering having a system installed, beware that you will not know where lines run once it is in. Which will make digging in your yard or some landscaping at your own risk. They did offer for $75 to come out and mark where heads are (+ $20 per zone) - so $95 at least and after that cannot guarantee those marks are correct. Not at all helpful. I can look at the plan and turn on system to see heads. Poor business practice that should be corrected going forward. read more

Added an irrigation system to a 50 year old home. The irrigation system was installed in April but I waited until now to post my review so I could evaluate all aspects of their company. I researched companies and invited my top three choices to bid for the job. Pro Irrigation wasn't the least expensive but their bid was in my reasonable price range. I am impressed with the professionalism of the three main customer facing aspects of their business, sales, installation, and service. I appreciated their commitment to complete the installation in one day. After the recent service call, I have the system that I wanted that covers my entire lawn (front, back, and sides) and all the flower beds. I like the Wi-Fi enabled controller that I'm able to manage with my smartphone. No more lugging hoses around my very large yard or hand watering all the plants. read more

Not impressed with this company whose practices seem to border on unethical. When Pro Outdoor took over the irrigation contract last year they immediately began to badger me about expensive repairs. I just discovered that they renewed my membership without my consent and without any notice, I only found it when reviewing my credit card statement. I called and got a customer service rep who was probably ex-US who transferred me to a voice mail for their domestic customer service. Buyer beware on this one. read more

Paid for them to come out and get the system ready for summer. Rainy spring so just tried to run the sprinklers this month. Nothing. Looked in the basement to see if there was a water problem and the pump was unplugged. Plugged it in and popped a fuse in my household fuse box. Called to see if they could come check as they obviously didn't really have us "summer ready" after their $200 service call. Their response to me (in addition to being fairly condescending) was "did anyone tell him there was a pump downstairs? How would he know to check if no one told him" I'm sorry, there aren't that many moving parts to a installed sprinkler system. - Are the heads in good working order? - Are there leaks? - Does the backflow work? - Is the program box working and programmed for the zones? - and oh yeah - is there something that ACTUALLY PUMPS THE WATER? - should probably check that that's in working order too. I don't expect to have to tell professionals how to do their job and the common engineering of the systems they service. And don't give me attitude if you missed a step. Just make what you promised right. Good businesses don't act this way. Pass on these guys and find a good business for your sprinkler needs. PS - Issue was nothing more than an overloaded circuit at the time I originally plugged in. Fixed it myself in 15 minutes. They lost a customer and got a very ugly review for a 15 minute solution. read more

Stay AWAY! I was "profiled" by their tech as being stupid with money. He arrived to turn system on for $90.00 but told me my back flow was leaking and he could fix it for $235.00 or- it could just stay leaking- then he labeled 7 heads not rotating and those would be $62.00 each to fix. And oh I can sell you ( oh gee I'm already over sold at this point ) a VIP membership for $250.00 that would be shut off mid year and opening maintenance all for over $900.00 I told him to send bid paid cash for the opening and had him leave. Later that day i had another service out and they are $30.00 per head they advised me that some of my zone were set to water too long and some heads needed to be built up higher or reset due to shrubbery growth- WOW never was any advice given at all from PIS, and guess what- my back flow is the best there is no leak at all!!!!!! NO LEAK!!!!!!!!!!!! TRY to oversell you and they must be on commission - do not use them!! The company supposedly completed the backflow test at my residence as required by the city in which I live. They never submitted it to the agency that does the backlog test for the city. Second year I have had my irregation system and second year in a row thus has occurred. What makes it worse is that I have their high end maintenence plan which includes the service. When I call the company, I never reach a live person. They recently merged with another company and have gotten to big and has lost that personalized customer service. read more

Professional Irrigation Systems is great company. They are very professional. Every year, we purchase a service contract from them and they come out and open and close our sprinkler system like clockwork. I have a green thumb and I plant exotic perennials and my own vegetable varieties. I depend on them to keep all of my expensive plants alive. They are very helpful and answer any questions you may or may not have on how to operate your sprinkler system or maintain the right water levels for your lawn. They perform all the back flow systems test for the county, too. You can sit back and relax with them in charge. We will continue to use their services every year and I recommend you try them, too. read more

Beware! I have been a customer of Professional Irrigation for the past 5 years. We bought one of their package deal every year which includes the opening of system, backflow testing and winterizing. This year during backflow testing they told us that the backflow failed and it would cost over $700 to replace it. I decline and replace the backflow assembly for around $200 and it took me 30 minutes. I rescheduled with them to re-test the backflow and received a charge for $96 that I did not authorize and there was no correspondence stating I would be charged for something that was in my package. While the technician was out testing the backflow he had to finish doing the other items that were included in the package and this is from the invoice: - Activation of lawn sprinkler system and Backflow Preventer test completed. - Verified head adjustment for proper coverage. - Pressure tested main line. - Programmed controller. - Documented needs for irrigation repair - Estimate to follow. So they charged me to roll a truck which they already had to do to complete the requirements of the agreed package. Then they provided me this estimate to fix the issues observed while they were on site. Keep in mind that the backflow, sprinklers and entire system were winterized by them in the fall as part of the package Estimate Summary: -Zone 1 spray needs straightened left front corner of driveway -Zone 4 is to low but leaking rotor backyard left side by neighbors fence -Zone 5 rotor not rotating in front of tree in landscape backyard -Zone 8 rotor by mailbox not rotating -Zone 9 rotor needs straightened along driveway corner of front landscape. They want to charge me another $325 to fix those issue. The Zone 1 sprinkler they installed a years ago so why am I paying to fix the work they did?? I'm currently reviewing the items listed and will update when I have the results from those items. I contacted them about the unauthorized $96 and they stated they would not refund it. I enquired about canceling the package but they would only refund $36 for the remaining balance for the winterization portion. Professional Irrigation....not real sure about that. I'm all about making a buck but gouging your loyal customers is not a way to do it. read more

We have left several voicemails and emails for a return call...nothing. When calling the main office, we are told to contact the technician...who is unresponsive. Professional, they are NOT. I used this company to install new sprinkler system around an in ground pool in Spring 2019. After they told me the project was completed I still have a bed surrounding my house that was on the old part of the sprinkler system that is not working and three window boxes on the back of the house that are no longer receiving water. When they sent a tech out in Spring 2020 to fix these problems. The tech they sent diagnosed a "major leak in a valve" and told me he could not activate the system and fix anything because of that. I paid extra (159$) for "diagnostics" and ended up with no active system and was told from the very rude customer service manager that a tech could return to my house 3 weeks later to fix the problem and turn on the system. Turns out when I had a reputable irrigation company come out to look at the system the tech from Professional was not knowledgeable enough to realize that it wasn't a leaky valve (no water was ever seen) and instead was the auto fill portion of the sprinkler for the pool. WHen I filled out the survey for Professional Irrigation and remarked that the tech needed more training and it wasn't reasonable to expect a customer to wait 3 weeks between appts with no working system a rep from the company emailed me to see what he could to do help. I emailed back a description of the issue and never heard back. DO NOT USE this company. They have grown too big and only care about quantity of customers not customer satisfaction! read more

While we were away a truck backed up in our driveway and one of our landscaping lights was destroyed. We called and professional irrigation was right there with an estimate to replace and the next day a technician showed up to replace the light. Not only were they fast and efficient but the technician was very professional and pleasant. Enjoyed talking with him about the lights and the replacement. Glad to never use this company again.. After being in my home for 2 years I get a notice from City of OFallon that I needed a back flow check. Called Professional Irrigation systems and told them I had never used sprinkler system and never wanted to use. I did not want to pay the $60.00 for 5 minutes to check system. Said disconnect. I assumed it was off but did not get a receipt from them. So this year I get a penalty from the city. Call professional irrigation's to remove back flow valve which I did not know about. When I called to make appt I told them this was suppose to be done last year. They were here less then 5 minutes and charged be $88.00 When I called to complain they just didn't care and told me they had phone conversations from both our conversations stating they told me price and what was done. I have since called and requested those conversations and am waiting. Such bad customer service and a rip off. Don't use. read more

These guys are terrible. They came out to open up and test my system a month ago. ($430) and left the controller in the off position so all I had to do is turn it to run when I needed it on. Well guess what? Turn it to run, doesn't work, try manual start doesn't work. The frustrating part is they can't get anyone out for more than 3 weeks and I'm sure they are going to charge me an arm and a leg for this. So glad i found Prof Irrigation, as hte company that installed my system and serviced it for years was never as professional and courteous. We are still dealing with installation troubles from the other company today, 8 years later! on 2015 Professional Irrigation installed a new irrigation with a back flow preventer that they soon discovered wasn't the bargain they thought it was when they brought it at a truck load sale; As a result the technician told my wife it was known issue and that Professional Irrigation would stand behind it and take care of the customer(s) effected To that end, every year since my new irrigation was installed Professional Irrigation had to rebuild the preventer three years straight since they installed the system However, fast forward, this time after replacing the internal parts twice the back flow preventer still leaks and has been left unresolved. the issue I was informed by the two technicians that they had to get authorization from their GM Nick; so, the 12-4PM appointment for my backflow testing is still unresolved and my city has a June 1st deadline to have my report in. So instead of Professional Irrigation during the right thing and replacing the defective backflow at their cost; they want me to pay for the replacement cost of the bad backflow preventer they discover was defective shortly after installing it. And to add further stress and delays to me, waiting to hear back from Professional Irrigation GM on whether Professional Irrigation will do the right thing a replaced the back flow prevent at their expense. For example, this is like a car company discovering a defective part was installed on a new vehicle(s), and then asking the car owner to pay to have it replaced I too have had a conversation with Professional Irrigation GM Nick when he may the same "adult conversation" statement that a previous reviewer has posted.
