I had the pleasure of…read moreusing Louisiana Voice & Swallow Solutions to provide mobile FEES services for two of my home health patients. The results of the formal swallow diagnostic allowed the patient, family, Dr & myself know what was safe for the patient & if the patient needed further speech therapy services. For one patient, the results determined that the patient was able to return to eating & drinking & not need the feeding tube any more. For the other patient, who had just been hospitalized for suspected aspiration pneumonia; but they did not get a swallow assessment in the hospital, the FEES results showed the patient was aspirating on thin liquids & needed to be placed on nectar thick liquids to decrease the risk of aspiration Pneumonia. Having the FEES service in the home of each patient allowed for comfort and relaxation for each patient because it was in their own home which is a familiar environment & it was less stress for the family because it didn't required the families to find transportation to get the patient to a facility to have a test done. Due to Covid concerns at that time, having the test done in the home also decreased the risk of exposure to other illnesses. Nicole was able to view each patient consuming a meal which allowed for a more thorough assessment of their swallow function. She came out within 24/48 hours of receiving the Dr's order & had the report submitted shortly after completing the FEES to both her Dr & myself. The patients, families, Dr & myself have been happy with the services provided by Louisiana Voice & Swallow Solutions & I would recommend using Nicole for any Swallowing or Voice assessments.

They have a large clinic with therapists who are employed both full time and on an "as needed" basis, so they are able to see you much more quickly than other clinics that offer similar services. The play (therapy) areas are spacious and clean, with lots of toys to promote learning! Megan is our speech therapist. She is so sweet and amazing with children! We have only recently started seeing her for services but I can tell that my son is enjoying their time together while playing and learning. We currently visit their office, which is conveniently located in Old Metairie, for one-on-one therapy but their therapists also offer school-based therapy which I think is really fantastic. Another unique service they offer is group therapy classes. A few of the groups they are currently offering classes for are: Picky Eaters and learning Social Skills. However, they also offer group classes for Handwriting Clinic, Pre-K Readiness, Art/Sensory Play, Fun with Food, and Articulation and Language at various times throughout the year. In addition to the above classes, they offer Summer Break and Winter Break programs! They seriously do it all! I can't wait to see the progress my little guy makes as we continue to visit them. I would not hesitate to recommend TLC to anyone whose child is in need of therapy services or a program to keep them entertained over the summer and winter breaks.
