We have one of those terrible Bradford Pears from 20 years ago that has split off large branches…read moretwice and this year started really having a problem with all the heavy branches causing the main growth that is left to spread and bend too close to the ground. We called 3 local services, two which got back to me. Bluegrass came out soon after contacting them, gave me the lowest bid to take the tree down, remove all the branches, grind out the stump and clean up. They also gave us a quote to top and trim since we really didn't want to have to plant a new tree when we plan on moving sooner than later. We scheduled them a couple weeks later after Halloween and they came out and in 45 minutes had the tree all trimmed. They took down all the branches that were ready to split off and left us with a nice looking topped tree that they said should come back this coming year, much like a neighbor had done down the street. The crew was friendly, careful with their work and did a terrific job cleaning up the entire front yard, not just what they cut down but they ended up blowing all the leaves we had down at the time to the curb and tossing them in the grinder too. The loudmouth guy with glasses, informed me they'd have to climb to cut limbs, and that they couldn't get all the way to the top. I should've told them to go, but I told them to go ahead. They cut 6 limbs, after the loudmouth guy with glasses muttered," we're not gonna make any money today. The estimator gave a low estimate." I even told them, they could stack the larger branches cut to be burned in our fire pit. They took the smaller branches and shredded them. Since they only cut 6 branches in the oak, I asked if they could cut the branches on my other neighbor's Bradford Pear tree, overhanging our driveway. The loudmouth guy cut our small Japanese Red Maple! I told him, and another guy, about the Bradford Pear, and he cut our Japanese Maple! I told him I asked him to cut the limbs of the Pear tree, because it drops crap, and has stained the driveway. He said he could only reach so far, because they didn't have a bucket truck! Finally, I paid $600 cash, of the original estimate, just to get rid of them! We had them remove trees in our back yard, several years ago, when Nick, the owner was supervising the crew, and they did an excellent job! Now, not so much! They promised something, they couldn't deliver! It was like Larry, Daryl, and Daryl, doing a half assed job. I'll never hire them to do anything!

They're also getting way too expensive. They quoted me $420 to trim two Wisterias. I had it done by someone else for $50. I felt a little betrayed by them. Sad.
