The staff is all amazing and completely passionate about their jobs, the grounds are GORGOUS, basically a castle with it's own city inside. If you are blind and live in a town where school is not available for special needs, your town is responsible for paying the tuition of any school that you are sent to. This includes the $100k a year tuition of Perkins, so DO IT. That is how my brother was able to go to such an exquisite school. You'd think they'd have built a program for the blind with the 1,500,000 they spent sending him to live and dorm in Watertown at Perkins, but good for us that they didn't. They taught him to swim (even with cerebral palsy), cook, read, sing and play instruments, grow plants, and make all kinds of one of a kind artwork, and just in general be the best he can be while growing his confidence. I can't thank them enough for their wonderful staff and the deep fondness and love that my brother has for his days at Perkins.

I've been meaning to write a review on this place for about two years now. First of all, I can't…read moretell you how much they pissed me off - twice, in fact. I can't comment on the therapeutic benefit of the Academy. We enrolled our son (CM) for about 9 months at the encouragement of his teachers. Enrollment is by quarter and paid in advance. Does my son have social problems? I don't think so. Did his social skills improve after he attended? Hard to say. Maybe he's a little less pigheaded and dominating. OK, here's what bothered me: We called the Academy for an initial meeting with the Director. We were assessing the place and its programs. It is a for-profit operation, although they promote the fact they provide training for graduate students from BC and other local colleges. We had a pleasant meeting and then a week or two later, I get a bill for $60. Here I am paying for the privilege to learn about the programs. I called to inquire, got an evasive answer but paid the bill anyway. Near the end, I ran into problems with one of the lead counselors. Very, very sanctimonious. Started hitting me with the mandated reporter threats. She only had a small snapshot of what was going on. I was dealing with something I was fully aware of and I didn't need the added stress of her threats. I am being purposely non-specific here. I know what the problem is and I have dealt with it successfully for many years. OK, lead counselor, you tell me I have a problem. I know I have a problem (the problem isn't with me or my child). So give me a solution to my problem. I bet she couldn't. Here's the stupidity...if you are going to threaten me at an activity that is voluntary on my part, I'm not going to come back. I'm not going to put myself or my son in harms way. They say they're good, and if they say they're good, they must be good. Don't believe it. And trust your gut about your child. And his or her teachers.

We highly recommend the Academy. We had our child in one of their programs for almost a year now…read more It's been very helpful. Something we can't fully claim from working with a couple of child psychologists in the past. Every kid is different, but it seems that an environment with a group of peers was a better place to learn and mature socially, at least in our case. The program that we were in definitely works. The Academy was very helpful to us. We've received some great parenting ideas and strategies. All in all, we can highly recommend the program. It's not for every child, definitely not, but if you child struggles to keep up with his peers socially, this might be a good place to try. As far as billing issues mentioned in one of the reviews here, we've never had any issues. It's a small organization, it's not a retail business, but we've never had any customer service issues. In fact, we have always been able to easily get in touch with someone via phone or email.

I have been working with Liz over the past year during an extremely difficult and transitional time…read morein my life. I felt completely overwhelmed, lost, scared, and static. I came to her feeling like a shell of myself, not knowing what to do. From the beginning of working with her, she immediately made me feel safe, heard, and at peace. At times, I felt like my issues were too much, too much for her to even take in, but that anxiety completely went away with her comfort and understanding. Through her healing using brain integration, I have not only been able to cope with the recent traumatic events in my life, but also navigate through major depression and helplessness. Additionally, her healing sessions have had positive physical effects on my body - I no longer suffer from acid reflux and stomach ulcers, which I have had for over 25 years. I am currently in menopause and my joint pain symptoms have improved, and my insomnia has decreased. There aren't words that can express how thankful I am for her healing and care. Also, I live on the West Coast of the United States, so we work remotely. Energy healing works! Liz is proof.

She has a clear, kind way of seeing things and often sees things that I might miss. And she can give you this wisdom in a way that is respectful of your dignity. She has a stillness and peace about her that is very healing. She's very genuine and real. Since I started working with her I have been feeling much better emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. Her presence is loving and calm. She is a true healer, and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone seeking healing and well being. So grateful to her. Rabbi Shifra Freewoman
