This is the same spot where some of the highest ranking officer's of the Third Reich were tried for warcrimes against humanity. We took a tour of Nuremberg that included this visit to the courtroom and museum. They start off with a movie about the present injustices against humanity and the advocacy of proper treatment. Very interesting. After the courtroom portion of the visit, we went into the museum portion and really had an opportunity to see how things were 80+ year's ago. The actual setup of the courtroom, the placement of the defendants, prosecution, and defense teams. You also learn much about how the trial proceeded. I did a lot of research into the trials to learn ahead of time what I would be seeing. You do not go to the attached prsion or the tunnels the defendants traveled to get to the trials. It wan an interesting feeling sitting in this room that had so much evil inside of it. It's almost like you can close your eyes and see this trial taking place around you. You can then walk through a series of photos and videos of what led up to, what happened during, and what's happened since the war. It was super interesting, however all of the displays were in German. It's fine, because the headsets came in English - however if you wanted to move quickly by reading everything that won't be an option if you don't sprechen deutsch. The upstairs area was quite warm and I actually almost ended up accidentally taking a nap while listening to the audio presentation. So be prepared - not much aircon and no fans. For COVID safety everyone has to wear a FFP2 (or similar mask).

Restrooms are free and there's a mini cafe. The Sinwell Tower is 350 meter up, about 100+ steps. "Sinwell" in German means perfectly round so it's up a spiral wooden staircase. We were able to see the courtyard and the view of the city. It gets really windy up here. The deep well tour is every 30 minutes and last for 5 minutes. It's the castle's water supply at 50 meters deep. The water flows horizontally through sandstones and different layers of rocks as a filtration system. Four weeks after the rain, it flows into the deep well and ready for drinking. You'll see a video and a demonstration of the lit candle which proves that there is oxygen in the well.

We went that route, and it was a fun way to spend an hour or so. There are fabulous views of the city from the top and different sections to check out on all sides. The castle and grounds are well-preserved and kept. There are restrooms inside and a little cafe to grab a drink and pretzel after the trek up. It's kind of a must-see when in the city. Free castle fun? Why not!

The museums are cheap around Nuremberg and if you add on the 3€ you can go to many in a day. The kids play area was great, lots of wooden toy options and the outside area to play was also awesome. A nice little museum depicting the long history of toy manufacturing in Nuremberg…read more The museum is organized on 4 floors and showcases a wide variety of tin toys, dolls and trains. I found the top floor most interesting and was fascinated by some of the toys from the time around WWII like the nazi dolls and propaganda board games. You can see trains and dolls and many interesting items in about an hour. We paid 6€ entry and 1€ for optional audio guide in English. Unfortunately most of the item tags and signs are only in German but even for a non-German speaker it was an interesting diversion. We were there at opening time-10 am-on a Tuesday and the place was pretty quiet. Worth a visit.

The tour follows the book about the hitler relics. if you re interested in WW2, history of Nuremberg this is a good place to visit. There s only 1 tour per day.

I'm not an art fan AT ALL, but it was still super interesting. If you're in Nürnberg and you don't stop here, you cheated yourself!

Pretty cool little house, museum, and art gallery! It was a nice, indoor escape from walking around…read morethe city, and, although most of the artwork is not original, it was neat to see the artwork in Durer's house. If nothing else, it is a good "window" to Renaissance life and living habits. As one of the few preserved and complete Medieval houses in Bavaria (i.e. not destroyed in WWII), it is a singular building. If you go to Documentation Nuremberg, you can get a combined ticket for a reduced price-well worth it!

We were driving on our last day of vacation from Nuremberg to Frankfurt and saw the sign for a…read morecastle. We followed the road signs and ended up at Cadolzburg. After finding a random spot to park (and crossing our fingers we wouldn't be towed) we wound our way through the adorable neighborhood and up to the entrance. We wandered the main grounds and lovely garden for a bit when the husband wandered into the office area and found out we could enter the castle, and for free on this day. After crossing the drawbridge you find yourself on what looks like a movie set. Very cool. We found out quickly that you could essentially just roam at your leisure, which is what we did...the crypt, a massive interior room (appears to be in the process of some restoration), smaller interior rooms, and the museum section that provides you with loads of info on the history of the town and castle. It would've been a fun adventure for a couple of hours with an entrance fee...free admission was a swell and unexpected treat!
