After paying my insurance premiums for many years to Progressive, I found out my coverage is worthless. On 2/12/26, Claim# 26-519416008, while driving on I-10 taking my wife to the airport, my vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was hit by a GMC truck insured by Progressive. The driver of the truck ran away. According to the investigating officer, the GMC truck was at fault in this accident. I'm a good driver, no tickets and never had an accident where I was at fault. For almost a month I have had a nightmare dealing with Progressive to pay for my vehicle repair. On 3/10/26, almost one month after the accident, I received a letter from Hunter Wells in the claim department stating that Progressive can't find a valid coverage for the incident and they will not be able to pay for my claim. I'm a retired auto body I-CAR, ASE, certified technician. I had already started to repair my car. This vehicle has steps, a handle, and a place for a wheelchair. My wife must have this vehicle to take her disabled mother to her doctor appointments. This vehicle is very safe to repair. I replaced the front fender and door with used parts and they fit perfectly. (see pictures) On 3/14/26, Hunter sent another letter stating the total settlement amount for my vehicle is $7,299.89. There is a catch: Progressive will salvage and keep my vehicle and sell it at the auction for a high premium. My vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was purchased new by my father-in-law. Three years ago he passed away. He made sure this car was in perfect condition the whole time he owned it. I have all the records to prove it. I have put about $5k in upgrades including a platinum extended warranty for an additional 85,000 miles left. This vehicle has a full warranty, just like owning a new vehicle. Progressive, they know I must have this vehicle, and the only way they will pay me is if they salvage the vehicle and I surrender it to them. I researched Craigslist, Marketplace, and can't find a single similar vehicle Ford Explorer IronMan rare edition for sale by owner. Most of the other available vehicles come with a salvage title, are not safe to drive, and cannot be fully insured. It's been 3+ months and the final decision I will not receive a single penny for the damages caused by a drunk driver insured by Progressive. read more

Progressive insurance company strategy is basically, Delay, Deny, and Ignore. After a few years of insurance with progressive, we had a no fault accident when my car got totaled. Progressive took 2 months to pay after so many phone calls and Emails. Additionally, they paid $8K less than the value of the car that they initially had agreed. I sent them a number of ads from 3 different dealers in my area for the exact same car and they ignored them all. After that they stopped my calls and Emails. So I am getting an attorney now. My insurance adjuster was unhelpful, wouldn't listen, and made my experience with a claim awful. Progressive just did what they wanted without taking into consideration what was best for me. The worst experience with an insurance company. There was poor communication and poor customer service. It took over 48 hours for a claims adjuster to contact me after i reported the accident to Progressive on 6/15/24. Then I had to take photos of the damage 4 different times in the hot Phoenix weather before they move forward with the claim. I was doing progressives job for them. The first person assigned to my claim was Molly Granillo. She gave me the name of the repair place in my zipcode called West Gate Collison. I looked at the reviews and agreed to this place. I called on 6/24, to get an update on the claim. I was informed ,by Molly, that my claim had been reassigned. The new person was Joanna Kirby. There was NO COMMUNICATION by Molly or Joanna about the change. This is where my frustration started. Joanna informed me that the rental would be a compact SUV. The car being repaired is a Mid Size SUV. Joanna said the upgrade was not going to be approved. Then at one point in an email she said it was approved. But when I checked with Enterprise, it was NOT approved. Joanna even said I could the pay the difference for the upgrade OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I then found an email for your CEO, Tricia Griffith. I emailed the information about Joanna's refusal for an upgrade on a rental. I asked if Progressive was willing to go to court over $7 a day? On 7/1/24 , I got a call from a claims supervisor named Matt, saying the upgrade was approved. Because the repair place was closed on 7/4 and 7/5, I was not able to take the car to West Gate until 7/8. The repair place said they are graded on how long they take to repair the car, and could not have the car sit there for 4 days. So two weeks after Joanna was assigned to the claim, the repairs are going to start on the car. TWO WEEKS. Then it was another 3 weeks to get the car repaired. 44 days after the accident. In my opinion, the claims adjustors either need additional training on communication and customer service, or they need to fired. They are making Progressive look bad. read more

They will say okay and give you a decent price. Then they will add that same person that hasn't lived with you for 30yrs that you told them doesn't live with you, raise your bill by $200 a month out of the blue and when you call them on it, They will say that they will send you a form that you must fill out and send back to the verifying what you already told them in the beginning and again after you noticed they are RIPPING YOU OFF! Then, they won't send you the form. So, they give you a good deal at 1st, then hike the bill up $200+ dollars based on a lie that they will fabricate! Progressive customer service asked me to send a cashier's check to pay a month on my insurance which I did. While waiting for confirmation that they received the check. I was told my insurance was cancelled and I owed 200.00. I asked about the 96.48 I sent abd was told they did not recieve. So I got copy from bank showing that progressive did deposit chexk and I faxed to Progressive. Even with proof feom bank and my name on the check I was told they would not honor it because my insurance policy # was not on the check. They then cancelled policy.and sent $200.00 to collection. They won't take responsibility for screwing up your account they lie about it and can't even keep their lies/stories straight. He closed the claim without notifying me and when I contacted him with more issues related to the claim left it closed. Progressive just sent a notice they were dropping us after too many windshield claims (2 replacments & 4 fixed chips) one dating back to 2017. We tried fixing small chips whenever they happened to avoid a windshield replacment, little did we know you cant have 6 or more within a 36 month period. Fixing the chip we thought was a better option than waiting until it actually broke...either way Progressive dropped us and weve never had a late payment and all over windsheild claims in Arizona which is very common. read more

Progressive sent us to collections over 62 dollars even though they admitted they never told us about the money I owed them..... I called to renew our auto/ home policy and paid 6 months in full, only to get a call from a collections agency cause we still owed Progressive 62 dollars. I was completely shocked.... Why do I owe you more money? Plus, it's been 3 months? Come to find out, they tried to contact me via email in which they all went to spam and mail. I NEVER received a single piece of mail from Progressive since we signed up in December. I told Progressive multiple times I got nothing in the mail from them and that their emails were going to my wife's spam folder. The app never said we owed anything either. Why would I avoid paying 62 dollars when I just paid 980 dollars for 6 months? I've spoken to 4 different agents and even to Leah in the CEO Group 440-566-1598. I have never in my life dealt with people that literally do not care about the customer. Every single agent was so limited to policies it's not even funny. They literally reviewed every phone call and admitted they never told me about the 62 dollars we owed from our old policy. I can't explain why I never received a single piece of mail from them... To be honest I think the first rep we spoke to updated my address on their end, cause shortly after the phone call I got a bill from them for 92 dollars. The app never showed we owed anything. Progressive does not care about their customers. They said that the 92 dollars was cause I never filled out an e-signature, again, went to junk folder. When I tried to explain this situation to all 4 or 5 agents, I got nowhere. Progressive is not concerned with their customers' experience. To this day I have signed nothing with them and I owe them 95 and 62 dollars. I couldn't imagine if I had an accident how they would treat me. I made the mistake of switching from State Farm to Progressive after 22 years to save some money when I moved to Arizona. 14 months later, I am paying the extra money to go back to State Farm. In May a rock on the 17 busted my windshield. I called Progressive to get information on my glass coverage. They could not give me an answer without filing a claim. I ended up paying out of pocket to replace my entire windshield since my comprehensive deductible was higher than the cost of repair. 2 days ago I got a new rock chip on my new windshield driving on the 101. I still haven't gotten the ok from Progressive to have the 20 min simple repair was done and they are STILL contacting me about the "claim" from May (I paid out of pocket for but they keep it on my record") The difference in price between State Farm and Progressive is the difference between having an actual agent who can help you and answer questions (SF) vs a call center loaded with people who cannot answer you, cannot get information straight, will bounce you around and never listen to you (P). Lesson learned the hard way. Side note: I notice in other reviews Progressive holds customers at fault for rock chips. There is literally NOTHING we can do to prevent rock chips short of never driving our cars in Arizona. Go after ADOT if you have an issue with it. I have to say that I'm underwhelmed with the level of Customer Service I received from Progressive. So much so, that I'm going to USAA now that my claim is over. I filed a claim and my car was not looked at for almost an entire week. (Concierge Claims Service?) Then, the shop that was repairing my vehicle had to call for a "supplemental" issue. You guessed it... 4 more days before I even got a call. Incidentally, the DID cover my issue and they did pay promptly. If I'm paying a premium fee, I expect to be treated much much better. I have been with Progressive for almost 5 years. I recently canceled a policy due to the selling of a vehicle, and they sent me a bill for $31 for canceling the policy. They told me that it was a law by Arizona. I also see several people complaining about them in regards to them not being responsive to claims that are filled. Fortunately I haven't had to file a claim with them yet, but I may think about switching. Although, I would get charged $60 to cancel my other two policies. Progressive has been the worst insurance company I have ever had. Switched to progressive about a year ago since they offered a pretty good price for a 6 month policy. When it came time to renew for another 6 months they significantly raised the price even though I did not have a single claim during the first six months. I hate having to change insurance companies so I was looking at the coverage that was included in this new higher price and realized that I did not have glass coverage on any of my 3 vehicles insured with them. I added glass coverage to all my vehicles which made the price go up a little more but I was willing to pay a little more to have glass with no deductible. I paid the amount that they quoted and was happy. Now I am in the last month or two of this 6 month policy and the window on one of my cars gets cracked. Went to start a claim online and it stated that I have to pay a $750 deductible to have my glass replaced. I called progressive and they told me that I only had the 0 deductible one 1 one of my vehicles and not the one that has the cracked windshield. They told me that I would have to pay even more money and that would give me the glass coverage I needed to get the windshield fixed. I wasn't happy but that amount was lower than the 750 so I went ahead and paid the amount. I was told that it would take a couple days to activate and that I could put in my claim once it's activated. Once it became active I went online to start the claim and it asked me the date the windshield was cracked. I put in the date it happened since lying about the date is insurance fraud and was already told by one of their employees that my windshield would be fixed and it said I had a $750 deductible. Now I am upset. I call them back and after spending several hours on the phone, getting transferred 16 times and being hung up on 3 times I am told by everyone one of their employees that I shouldn't have to pay that deductible and weren't sure why I had the deductible The last employee that that I spoke with told me that he was sending me to their glass department. They to told me that there was 750 deductible but didn't know why since I have full coverage. They started a dispute of the 750 deductible saying that would allow them to get that 750 deductible waived. Well you guessed it they denied it saying that I need to pay the deductible because the windshield was cracked before the glass coverage took place. What? So after I paid a quote at the beginning of the six months that was supposed to have glass coverage I am told I need to pay even more when I put in a claim so they could cover the windshield they still are not going to cover the windshield? Now not only am I going to be out the 750 deductible I paid even more for nothing! I asked for a manager and was told one would call me. After a couple days I get a call from said manager who has an attitude saying they can't help me and waive the deductible because then they would have to do that for everyone. No I expect to receive what I have paid for and for them to honor what they say. I will be reporting to the BBB. Thank you Progressive for not only not offering what you quote but for getting even more money from me. I never had this problems with Geico and wished I never changed. read more

Bought a Progressive insurance policy for my motorcycle, but Progressive added a bunch of zeros to my VIN so California doesn't recognize the policy. Suspended vehicle due to Progressive's incompetence. Even when I send in a check for re-insuring the vehicle through California, California still won't recognize the VIN. Pay for insurance with Progressive, get a suspended vehicle. Find someone else is my recommendation. read more

I was told by a Progressive agent to get an estimate - which they OK'd - took the car in for the repair when they told me to and then refused to pay. They are no better than the other company that advertises "We keep you legal for less." What that means is that you pay the low premiums and they refuse to pay claims! My g/f was rear ended by a progressive customer and caused damage to not only the bumper but pushed in the left back side of our sienna Van to where now it hard to open the back sliding door.. I did get the run around for bout 2 weeks. This van was a salvage but was completely fix back to normal. Anyways, I avoided any drama, my g/f was not hurt. We just wanted our van fix promptly. They kept holding back looking for more excuses to not fix our vehicle. My biggest mistake was for my g/f not calling the police and not going to the hospital to get checked out. So now they are just going to fix the bumper on our van and I have an ugly dent on our back left side with a sliding door that stops halfway.. According to the lawyer I contacted, I'm screwed because our van was a salvage and my g/f didn't go to the hospital nor did she call the police on a fender bender accident. I was trying to avoid all the drama and just have our van fixed. I would have rated this place a zero star, however, it won't let me. read more
