I can't say enough about this organization other than I hope I can one day help them (maybe teaching this great material) and bring along other aspiring PMP's. Here is my advice... 1. Most importantly, DO NOT SCHEDULE THE EXAM the day after boot camp. You will probably not be ready. I studied for 3 months before boot camp and still scheduled the exam out 3 weeks afterwards to absorb the critical information that PMA would give me. 2. Search the web for a discount code, then sign up with PMA (I saved $200). Great organization and I had a great instructor, Jim Higgins, PMP. 3. Schedule your bootcamp out at least 2-3 weeks to watch all the video training they have (which is extensive and helpful) 4. Follow the study plan, Not sure if you heard me, Follow the study plan... 5. Take all the practice quiz's after each video (repeat steps 2-3 as needed to get an 85% on all quizes) 6. Attend the tutoring webinar each Friday at 1PM PST. Was very valuable. 7. Attend class with your baggage checked at the door. What I mean by this is forget what you may do in your work place or what you think you may know about project management. You (and your peers in the class) are there to learn the PMI way of Project Management. DON'T ARGUE WITH THE PMBOK. It is an inanimate object which will not reason with you. Let the instructor do their job which is to explain the PMBOK way. 8. Take two weeks off work to study your material extensively 9. I took a few Project Management classes at UCI Extension and it was just too slow and conflicted with my work traveling schedule. I had enough educational credits to take the PMP exam but not enough breadth of knowledge to pass it. I needed a crash course in learning the PMBOK material. So, I discovered Project Management Academy while searching the web and liked the way the website was laid out and the class availabilities/schedule was perfect for me. I attended the boot camp the week of July 13th and just passed the PMP exam yesterday on my first try. Our instructor Joe Drammissi is hilarious, patient and very knowledgeable. I think I asked a hundred questions and he answered every single one. The material is very dry, so you need someone with a great sense of humor to make it entertaining. The PMBOK processes, inputs, tools & techniques, and outputs were nicely structured for easier learning and memorization. PMA has incredible resources from mock exams to study guides. I highly recommend this boot camp. Well worth the time and money investment. If you are busy and need a strategy to quickly pass the exam the PMP Exam boot camp is a must. read more

I had the pleasure of having Jim Higgins as my instructor for the PMP Boot Camp in Irvine, CA. This subject has so much material to cover and it could have been a really long and boring 4 days! Jim is very passionate about being an instructor and it showed. He shared tips that helped him and made sure everyone understood before moving on. He took the time to come up with alternate ways to explain the material and how it differs in real world. I passed the the exam on March 9th, about 1 month after completing the course. All of the books, tools, guides, PMA website, laminated slides, and binder were of exceptional value. I had studied on my own for several months before taking the PMP exam for the first time and did not pass. I found the PMA and decided to enroll. I am so glad I did. Having an instructor in a classroom was so much more helpful. and made reviewing the material much more enjoyable. I attended the PMP boot camp in December 2015. The instructor, Jim Higgins, was engaging and provided some tricks and tips to help study through the intensive PMBOK reference book. I found this especially helpful as I have been studying the PMBOK a whole month before the boot camp in order to take my CAPM test by the end of the boot camp week. The 4 day course covered quite a bit of information which not only helped reassure some of my knowledge, but also shed light and understanding to areas where I was having trouble comprehending. I ended up passing my CAPM test the day after boot camp ended. I especially enjoyed that the class offered a pre-assessment test before the boot camp began, then offered a practice test at the end of boot camp. This helped test your knowledge and really shows how much you learn from the boot camp. I improved my score by 50% at the end of it! I highly recommend this class for anyone who is studying for the PMP or the CAPM. It was money well spent! read more

I used PMA to upskill my project management skills to better use my spare time from having to work from home. I undertook two training's with PMA. After having acquired my PMP in 2019, i had been putting away ramping up on additional skills but finally decided on spending some time on upskilling myself than binge watching yet another series on Netflix. I choose a couple of courses on PMA (Lean Six Sigma being the main one) Michael Toothman was the allocated instructor. The training was well paced throughout the 4 days of training with the 5th being the examination and testing. I couldnt have asked for a better trainer, he leveraged on his real world examples to constantly reinforce the concepts. The medium of learning was limited to a virtual classroom setting but that did not deter his ability to teach nor ours to learn. I still have a few more trainings i have already procured which i plan on undertaking over the next couple of months. read more

I took the PMA bootcamp in Oct'20 with Michael Toothman (MT) as the instructor. Advice: the bootcamp is information overload and you'll feel like you've learned nothing during, but MT stayed focused, with constant reassurance that we were learning more than we felt/thought. He not only focused on content, but referred to the PMBOK often and gave answers and advice in the context of the PMP exam. He also set a realistic expectation of self-study after the bootcamp, through the PMP application process up to the taking the final exam, including the timeline. Be patient, pace, take full day breaks in between studying and follow the PMA strategy. Outcome: I passed the PMP exam on the first attempt at the end of Dec'20 (3 months over the holidays). I highly recommend this bootcamp from the PMA, and if you get MT then call that a bonus, but I'm sure all of the PMA instructors are just as competent. read more

Utilizing The Project Management Academy's criteria rich PMP training material, Mr. Higgins proficiently taught us how to interpret the PMBOK knowledge areas and processes and how each methodology works with one another to be successful in Project Management. I took the PMP prep course with Jim Higgins and two weeks later, I took the PMP exam and passed! I received the highest marks in the three toughest categories. I cannot express how much I believe my success was due to his teaching style. He presented examples and side notes to remember things that really helped me through my test. He clarified a lot so much of the material for me, before I walked into that prep course, everything just seemed to run together. Once I walked out of that prep course, my comprehension of the material was so much clearer. The way the course material is laid out in such a clear and concise way. I would definitely recommend this prep course and this professor. I took a PMP prep course last year with a different company and shortly after I took the PMP exam and was not successful. I took the PMA boot camp recently (13-16 July in Irvine, CA) and was not sure what to expect. I was very happy with the instructional materials as well as with Joe Drammissi's excellent teaching. Joe has so much project management experience in industry that he was able to make the learning of the materials very interesting. He also helped to link key concepts together to make it easier to learn and retain. I passed the exam on my first try 1.5 weeks after the class (I would have taken the exam sooner b/c I felt I was ready after the class, but PMI took 5 days to approve my application). I highly recommend this class and Joe in particular. It will help you to not only pass the exam but also provide you with knowledge that will equip you to be a better PM. read more

I took the virtual course in Sept 2022 to fulfill the 35 hr training requirement and John clearly broke down the topics, disciplines, and key pointers to prepare me for the PMP exam. I attended the bootcamp in November 2015 and It really helped me understand the PMBOK concepts and guided me on the PMP preparation. I would strongly encourage any student to do a little pre-work before attending the class. Watching the video prior to the class really helped me. That way, you can assimilate the contents much better. The teaching material they provide is amazing. I only studied their content and did a lot of questions and answered on the website and successfully passed the exam the first time. FYI, Once you register to a bootcamp, you get access to the website the same day, even if the class in a few weeks later so you take advantage of their teaching material and test question ahead of time. read more

I took the PMP exam for the first time two weeks ago after 28 years experience in managing projects. I passed the exam in my first attempt. Before the class, I was skeptical of my chances. I did not know where to begin and end to take on this beast. Jim Higgins helped me to put my arms around the project management framework and by the end of the class, I knew exactly what I had to do to pass the exam. I took the PMP Boot Camp virtually, led by Dr. Mike Ikona from April 13 through 23, 2020. As one would expect, it was fast-paced and a constant stream of information. I strongly suggest doing the 1/2 day x 4 days over 2 weeks, it gives you time to digest every day! Dr. Ikona was an excellent instructor, covered all of the material in a very logical and easy to understand way. Even though the class was 100% virtual, Dr. Ikona talked TO the participants, not at them. He included personal notes, used the virtual whiteboard, and did notsimply read the slides.
