At a former job of mine, Food Share allowed the educational non-profit organization I worked for to shop weekly for fresh produce to distribute directly to elementary school students and families served in need, many of whom struggled with food insecurity. This partnership was vital, and very much appreciated by all because it helped improve food access throughout our community at wellness fairs and nutrition classes. Thank you for your hard work! The amount of volunteers that showed up today turned a 2 hour event into 30 mins and it was such a refreshing time - especially to do on a day of love . Once I arrived it was difficult to figure out how to get actually get in there, the food pantry is around back and you cant just drive back there from the street. Its a little far away but was worth checking out. After reading what happened to Mary M. in 2017 I can't give 5 stars.

We volunteered here a couple of weeks ago. As volunteer staff in the evening dinner service it was…read moreheart breaking and humbling to help out. Those in need truly benefited from the chance for a warm meal of merit + a few minutes of Christian guidance. My daughters and I served plates, bussed tables, and I serviced the water for the dining room. They carry on entirely with NO government support. It is all funded with donations of food and materials which they sell at their thrift shops. They claim 86% of all revenue pass through to the actual rescue mission. That is exceptionally efficient! With their operation they generate an average of 500 meals a day. This translates into 3500 meals a week... or about 15,000 / 30 day month.... or an IMPRESSIVE 180,000 meals a year! Families are served separate from single men, and the men are divided into a safer and not so safe group. Children and young people volunteer and the staff watches over them carefully. Contact or interaction with volunteers and those they serve is well managed and seems safe enough. By the same token those whom my daughters and I served were cordial and grateful with thanks and smiles. I am truly humbled by their plight and am looking to help in more ways then just volunteer hours. I encourage one and all to go volunteer. It will help you find thankfulness for where-ever you are in life ... and your time and efforts will help those in need in meaningful ways. The organization also runs facilities which provide a safe place to sleep. They have rules for those sleeping in their facilities so it is sheltering and permanent continuous residency. Curious and logical. Oh well - there it is .... do some good for others ... maybe do so good for some in our region who have great need for basic survival. I give 4 stars because it can always get better. I have seen amazing work done by other organizations for those in need (in comparison).

I knew about Habitat Restores, but never put it together that this store was relatively close by…read more For my small apt. life, I can't really purchase many of the larger furniture items, and prices seem a bit on the higher for me if I compare to other typical thrift stores. But I saw some really unique dining sets, which I WOULD buy if I lived in a much larger space! They have stricter standards for furniture they'll take, so prices are higher but still super affordable. It's laid out bit like showroom warehouse. The back corner has all the 'contractor' type items for building, painting, and adding smaller finishes. I would return to see if any smaller items pop up, and maybe some of the artwork up in the front of store.

The guys that work there are ALL incredibly lazy, they are rude, their vibe is of one who thinks they are better than everybody, & to be quite frank, they don't know how to do their job because they literally don't know what's what. I can do their job better than they can. I'm a woman & I'm always having to correct them because every tIme I go they are always trying to put some of my precious metals in my steel pile, because they think that since I'm a girl that I don't know my sh*t. & then when I correct them, they always play dumb like they didn't know what they were doing. But I promise you, they do. They are sneaky & it's a shame to have a great company full of uneducated & un-ambitious boys. The BEST RECYCLING company in Ventura County is called SANTA PAULA RECYCLING! they are incredibly honest & ALL extremely hard workers, I can turn my back on them & trust that they will do right by me EVERY TIME!
