The first exam I took here, the proctor argued what material I was able to bring. I explained I had been preparing for the exam for a long time and was sure of what the rules were. After debating, they checked again and said I was correct and allowed my materials. This was a stressful beginning to my long exam with no scheduled break. The temperature in the room was unbearably hot and they had a box fan blasting hot air around the room. By the end of my exam, I was saturated like I had wet myself, from my knees to my armpits. I was wearing pants and a t-shirt. I felt dizzy and nauseated. Unbearable conditions for a long exam. They take so long checking you in and out, I have been afraid to use the bathroom. The second exam I took here smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes in the center. I don't know where it was coming from but it was overwhelming. Again they argued about my material I am allowed to use with my exam but I had printed the test booklet and was able to hand it to them to read with Prometrics policy for my exams page highlighted for them to look at on their own website. Prometric sent out a notice of FAILURE for not showing up, to everyone who sat for my exam. OUTRAGEOUS! I reached out to Prometric weeks ago to discuss these things with them. I thought they might want to know and appreciate the notice instead of a review. No one ever replied. I am applying to get on the board in my field to try and move the exams to another testing center. The date for my exam was incorrect from what the board had announced. Trying to explain and correct this with Prometric was impossible. Good luck with these people on the phone. I fixed it myself but it took a week. This was a great experience. I took a test at the Taylorsville Prometric location. I read all the reviews, then made a trip down there two days before the exam to make sure I knew exactly where the place was, that they would accept my identification methods, that I had the time correct and get any advice from them about what I needed to remember about Prometric's rules. The staff were welcoming, non-judgmental and very helpful. Were they on time the day of testing? Yes. Early, actually. Did I have to fight a crowd the day of my exam? No. there were about 6 people there when I registered. When I left there were three people at the front desk either waiting to be processed or being fingerprinted, which was not a requirement for MY exam. Was the place hard to find? No. There are two entrances which could be confusing, but read the other reviews with pictures and it will help. Was the staff knowledgeable, helpful and kind? Absolutely. They went out of their way to make test takers feel less stressed. Is there a locker to put your cell and bag? Yes. They are small lockers so a backpack might be a stretch, but a handbag is do-able. Its hard to really know what to say to a place like this. Its a testing center. You hate the fact that you have to go here but you feel happy to leave. I gave it 4 stars because the staff their were actually pretty nice to me and it is what they advertise it to be, a testing center. The computers didn't give out and I was able to get in and out like scheduled. I had a hard time finding the place. Apparently I didn't notice their sign in the front. They are located on top of the Starbucks. You enter from the back of the building. This should help any one who is like me and was expecting their own building and logo on the building itself. read more

Average experience. I had to take the GRE this summer, and I chose to take it at the Prometric Test Center in Taylorsville. First of all, it was so hard to find!! I thought my GPS took me to the wrong location. I eventually went inside Starbucks and asked them for directions. (For your reference, the door to enter is in the back of the building near the drive thru area.) The girl at the front desk whose name I think was Lauren was very sweet and nice. She was pleasant and gave clear instructions. The other two ladies who I came into contact with were, frankly, pretty rude. One lady started yelling at everyone in the lobby to leave because there were too many people in there. I was taken aback by this, since we didn't know there was a limit to the number of people. The same lady talked to me condescendingly about the requirement to wear my mask. She explained that under no circumstances was I allowed to uncover my nose or mouth. She said, "I see yours is pretty loose, so don't be getting any ideas." My mask was a little loose, but it covered my nose and mouth perfectly fine. It only falls down when I jump or move my mouth a lot, which I wouldn't be doing during the GRE. I wish she would have been nicer to me, especially since I was about to take one of the most important tests of my life! There were so many ways she could have informed me of the mask requirement much more politely. The other lady seemed very annoyed at everything I did. The employees didn't give clear instructions of where to go and what to do, so I was left to guess a lot of the time. Sometimes I would guess wrong, and I would get a very firm hand motion and head shake from this lady. In the middle of my test, I needed more scratch paper, and she couldn't seem to understand that, so she made me leave the room, and when I tried to come back in, she said, "what are you doing? Go!" Then I told her frantically that I had to get back in before my test started back up (only had a 60 second break), and she said, "I didn't even know you got 60 second breaks." I thought this was weird, since she should know this type of thing if she works there. After that whole debacle, I went into my final test section pretty flustered. The testing center itself was good! The temperature was perfect, and the chairs were comfortable. I appreciated the white noise machine to drown out the sounds of other people typing, clicking, and sniffling. And I appreciated the option for noise-cancelling headphones, even though I didn't use them. I was also grateful for the lockers provided, so I had a place to put my phone, keys and water bottle. In the end, my experience wasn't bad. I took the test, and I did well, and I was comfortable. I just wish that 2 of their 3 employees would have made the experience more stress-free and hard been more sympathetic of all the stresses the test-takers were experiencing! read more

Like the other review says, it's a regular testing center. You really don't want to be there, but because you have to be, the process and workers should do their best at making it an easy experience. There are a lot of rules to abide by, you must roll up your sleeves and pant legs and turn your pockets inside out while they use a wand metal detector to make sure there is nothing on you. So just a heads up, don't do anything to make them disqualify your ability to take the test! The testing room is quiet and the computers work well, they provide you with noise cancelling headphones too. They're not very stylish, but what can you do? Lockers are also provided, so feel free to bring your cellphone and purse and even food if you want. They're big enough to put all of your stuff in it! TIPS & TRICKS: * The entrance is on the NORTH side of the building. You have to practically walk through the Starbucks drive through to find it, so be careful and grab a latté on your way. * Take advantage of the scheduled breaks your test allows, there are cool drinking fountains and clean bathrooms to use too. * Good luck! read more

Oh testing center reviews...with the stress people are feeling of already having to go to take a test, little inconveniences can drop ratings fast. I have tested here four times over the past year and can honestly say this is a great location. I've kept notes on each experience that I had so I could give a raw, honest review. Read on: First off, the scheduling process is really easy online. I would highly recommend reserving your spot ASAP because they fill up fast. I was taking the CPA exam and spots were filling up 2-3 months in advance. The location is very convenient. Just off I-215, tons of restaurants around for a bite to eat before or after your test, and plenty of parking. Prometric is located on the second floor of the building; there aren't retail businesses on the second floor so it seems "secluded" and quiet which makes it great for a break between test sections. There are drinking fountains and clean restrooms right down the hall as well. The actual testing room is nice too. Computers function well, there are sound canceling headphones for your convenience, temperature is set at a comfortable level, and they even have a white noise machine softly playing to eliminate other sounds. The lighting is good, you have a wide open desk for spreading things out, and the chairs are adjustable. The staff here is fantastic. They are very friendly (they try to make conversation or get you pumped for your exam when waiting), they are very thorough in explaining procedures, and they work quickly. All the staff seem very competent and patient; I never once saw a staff member get frustrated even when there were some major hiccups - they always worked around issues. Due to some Prometric policies, there can be holdups during check-in, but the staff clearly communicate that and work efficiently to get everyone processed. Make sure you get there early. One time I arrived at 7:40 and didn't even get in to test until 8:30 (there were a lot of people there that day and see my note above about hold ups due to Prometric policies). One downside that I have noticed is that because the "lobby" area is so small and people are arriving at different times, you may often arrive and not be sure if there is a line or who has been helped. Even with that, the staff is still really good at noticing who is just getting there and processing people in the order they arrived. Here is a quick, interesting story: one of my tests I took in July. When I arrived they quickly informed me that the A/C was broken and that the temperature in the testing room was approaching 85 degrees. They apologized and offered to reschedule my test for free and offered to call the organization sponsoring my test to vouch for me. I didn't mind the heat and decided to test that day anyway, but there were many others that took them up on their offer. The staff was very patient and kind to everyone. Very unprofessional. I went to take the Praxis at the Taylorsville location and was told to arrive 30 minutes early. We left extra early to drive in the snow storm. I waited over 30 minutes, along with several other people, and the doors still were not open. Finally, someone waiting to get in received a text saying that the test was cancelled and another person got a message that explained it was due to COVID. Several of us, though, did not get any message at all. It is not a cheap test and this happened to be the only time I could take it. I would not recommend going through this company to take your test because they are very unreliable. read more

Is it possible to give a testing center 5 stars, when there is nothing about a testing center that excites me? In this case, I believe so. I have taken 3 or 4 standardized exams here totaling over 20 hours of test time. The thing that I like about taking the tests here is that it is quiet, clean, professional, and the employees are friendly. There is no stress about finding parking as there is a massive lot to the east of the building to park in. I think this is the best prometric location in the Salt Lake Area, and is a great place to take dreadful exams. read more

Totally unprofessional Prometric. I show up at 7:30 am to take a test to maintain my teacher license and no one is there to administer the test. They show up hours late and tell me I can't take the test along with about 20 other people. I spent 2 hours last night preparing sub plans to take the day off and spent one of my 4 personal days for no reason. Prometric should have to pay for my wasted time and personal day. Super awnry now. I hope that I can get my test done in time to renew my license or I will probably have to pay to file an extension. read more

This entire prometrice system is awful, took the online proctored exam and had issues. My first attempt was unsuccessful do you technical issues with their system. Customer support was practically unreachable, finally got through after a week of being on hold all day, then had the customer care center workers just refer me to the website and basically tell me 'tough sh*t'. When I asked him to stay on the line so I could make sure I got everything right on the site I could practically hear his eye roll and he scolded me saying there were other people he needed to talk too. I had to reschedule myself for a new exam since the earliest they could offer was far later. I am still waiting on my refund for the initial exam attempt. When I came in for my fingerprinting they didn't have my appointment in the system and then I had to spend extra time to fill out sircon because that was not mentioned anywhere. read more
