They don't provide any actual coaching to help kids improve from week to week. The owner, Dave, does not interact with parents at all. He floats in the pool between classes and doesn't make any effort to make the environment engaging or welcoming. Again, I just cannot wrap my head around how this is a place for children to learn.

This center uses a rote style of learning to enforce math skills. The staff is young and has little…read morepatience for younger children that are having a difficult time learning a new skill or need a more hands on approach to building math confidence. When my child made statements of discouragement in learning new concepts they did not work to assure her but lacked patience took these comments as a lack of desire to learn. Jim Trexler is dismissive and often times combative in emails when younger children don't meet his mark when working to master new concepts. Upon joining the center my husband and I explained to Mr. Trexelr that my older child need homework help because she was having trouble grasping Math concepts with her current math teachers style and he agreed that he and his staff could help keep her on track during the school year and make sure she kept developing her math skills. After joining Jim sent constant emails complaining that she only wanted to work on homework while at the center and finished minimal worksheets and was not meeting the mark for him to run his business. It did not matter that she needed to keep up with her academically rigorous curriculum at school. He was also upset that she came in to study after her games or practices and felt she was focusing more on sports than her academics as a whole because she was not completing his quota of worksheets. Overall, if you have a young child that actually needs to become more confident in math concepts and needs a bit of hand holding and encouragement this is not the place. Get them a workbook and a one on one tutor to help build their skills. And if you have an older child that you want to get math help and reinforcement of concepts that they are learning, this is not the place, because they want you to do worksheets the entire time you are there which may not be related in anyway to the concepts that the child is learning at that particular time.

They teach by following the program/the dates that were plugged into the computer system and give assignments according to schedule. When a student asks for further instruction or explanation, most are clueless, because the material is above their heads. Thus, you pay them and teach yourself. There are a few who are dedicated and knowledgeable but these are far and few in between. Some are just looking for an extra paycheck and have a buddy system who will punch their time clock when not in attendance, either by arriving late or leaving early. This is commonly known as stealing time and a fire able offense. It would be easy for administration to discipline if this was an uncommon problem, but here it seems to be like a disease, and they would lose too many staff. This poor quality training seems to be the norm these days. There may be a difference between day and night instructors. More eyes are watching during the day classes, whereas the night classes are lacking professionalism. I'm hopeful that things will change before it is too late for me. Goodluck.

I grew up in Harford County and didn't grow up around the most diverse community and what I experienced in my 4 years there has carried me through to success both personally and professionally that I want my children to experience in the near future. Not just as a graduate of the school but as a leader of people and someone who has a passion for improving and enriching people's lives. If you want your son to get started in the right direction before college this is an investment that can never have a value placed on it.

We saw El Otro Oz: A Bilingual Musical at the Mildred Dunnock Theatre. It was thoroughly enjoyable and the actors were truly amazing and professional. The students that went were part of our newcomer program which means they have been in the country just over a year. While many speak Spanish and laughed at much of the dialogue, the students from other countries enjoyed this musical variation of the Wizard of Oz. I know I did! It was spring break for Goucher students, so the campus was quite deserted. The production company that put on the show travels to various locations in Maryland. It took us almost an hour to arrive, but well worth the drive (we had charter buses, so comfort was key). I hope we get to see another show next year.

You are FORCED AND REQUIRED to wear a mask all day indoors. There is proof that masks don't even work for stopping the spread of covid-19. I've been warned multiple times for the smallest jokes ever that were not in the middle of when a teacher was talking. In conclusion; this school is a waste of time and money, the only reason I give it two stars is because of the athletic opportunity's you get at this school.
