First of all -- the bartenders are so great and friendly! Probably helps that my friend is a local and knows a lot of people but whatevah! I got some sort of gin and lemony martini-type drink. I think it was called the bee's knees and boy, it sure was! They make great old fashioneds and have the perfect ice balls for it. I didn't go see the patio but I should've checked it out. I was in town one night. I was told this place was a place to come I showed up. And waited. Then waited. And waited some more. Three drinks in over a two hour period. I switched from cocktails to beer figuring it would be faster. So wrong. It was actually longer. While this place was good it was TERRIBLE on service. If you don't care about having an empty drink for the majority time here than by all means come here. If you want quality service don't come here. I hate poor service and this place is the epitome of that. read more

Cody just got a LOT classier! Locals have been waiting with baited breath for another place to open with "real food" (surprisingly hard to find places in this town with fresh non-Cisco selections!) and Juniper's expansion from a wine and spirits store into a bar with small plates does not disappoint. My first time to get in to the new Juniper, I was with a "dude" and we were starving on our way back from a long day on motorcycles. He was in the mood for a burger but agreed to come here since he knew how excited I was to try it out. Amazingly, we started with the mulberry street plate and the portlandia plate and were surprised with how satisfying it was,--(the burger idea was immediately forgotten). Cocktails were fresh and interesting, atmosphere is classy but welcoming (excited to see what they do with the back patio as they get further along!) and the staff is friendly. As for the retail portion of Juniper-- such a great selection and the staff is super helpful at recommending new things to try on any budget. This is definitely where I'd go in Cody to buy a gift for anyone who enjoys alcohol. You won't be disappointed if you try out Juniper. A huge step up for Cody, but would stand up heartily to the competition in any city. read more

What a great find! We ended drinking and eating here twice, and we enjoyed having Justin as our waiter both times. The cocktail special (thyme, gin, lemon, et al) was fabulous, and we actually loved a salad -- the blue pig, which has yummy bacon chunks and blue cheese. I'm really picky about my greens, and these were perfect, as was the tangy dressing. We also had pork tacos, which were good. I loved this place! We ate here 2 nights in a row and considering we were only in Cody 3 nights, need I say more? My favorite salad in the entire world was the haystack...yummy and the perfect dirty martini I also had a lemon drop martini and it was delicious. The service was amazing and the ambience is cozy. This really is the kind of foodie place you might expect in Portland or Austin. Huge selection of alcoholic beverages worth tasting, and by far the best food we had this week in the Yellowstone area. Don't bother with the mocktails. Not their specialty here. The Love Me A Ginger mocktail is mostly soda. No bitters. The Loring (green chile-artichoke dip) is very parmesan-cheesy. The bar area is quite loud, which comes with modern decor. We're returning tomorrow for charcuterie... (In comparison, Yellowstone restaurants are pretty pathetic in execution. What a night my wife and I had at this restaurant. We were traveling through and heard about this little wine and cocktail bar and had to check it out. Boy were we surprised at what we found in such a little town. Not only do they have one of the best whisky selections in the state we found out and some really amazing treats on the retail side of there store I was blown away by the customer service I received from the server that was on duty. He was polite, entertaining and had a wide and varied knowledge on all the items that were available not bad for a Friday night. A good place to go for a smoker (outside on their back patio) or inside in a ventilated room. My husband enjoyed his cigar on the "shabby chic" patio with umbrellas at individual tables. There were also low tables with cushioned chairs, music and a casual ambiance with an upscale flair in the small "tapa style" plates they offer. We had the bruschetta pate, with 3 different garnishes, all very tasty. Many colorful window boxes filled with flowers lined the fenced wall. We had the bruschetta plate with 3 different toppings, all very tasty. The wine I had was excellent, and there are extensive varieties of whiskeys to explore. You can also purchase them by the bottle as well. This was a nice, quiet place (at least on this Friday evening) to come and "chill" with drinks and a small appetizer after a day of exploring Yellowstone and before going elsewhere for dinner! I was in Cody for a couple evenings inbetween touring around the nearby national parks, and Juniper stood out amongst the other local businesses. The shop carries a variety of wines, spirits and fine foodstuffs. The classy little bar in back is the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed glass of wine, or a beer on the outdoor patio. My friend and I ordered a couple cocktails that were some of the most unique I've seen in awhile...mine was a spicy champagne with fresh basil, his a smooth and not-too-sweet chocolaty beer cocktail made with Guinness. Both excellent. Their official grand opening is still a few days away so I didn't get to try much from their small plate menu, but I did sample something from the cheese plate, a delicious local smoked cheddar. The staff here are all really friendly and fun to chat up, plus you can tell they're a tight-knit bunch themselves. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
