I have taken my pet to Prospect House Veterinary Clinic in Colwyn Bay for everything from flea and worm treatments to suspicious limps and bumps. They give good, honest advice and they clearly care for the animals in their care.
However, on occasions I have been disappointed with some of the vet's people skills. I usually get around this by specifying which vet I would like to look at my pet. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. This really came to a head when my pet was due surgery and I mentioned that she might have consumed a small amount of food accidently left out. The vet immediately said that I had to choose whether I want my pet to go through with surgery. It was a tough choice but one I was told to make. After this, the vet excused themselves to get something and came back with another vet, the one I have previously refused to see due to, in my opinion, poor people skills. This vet told me that my pet was not allowed surgery, as it was too risky. I appreciated this but did not understand why I was told to decide when then the vet would refuse anyway.
I thought that the way in which the vet handled the situation was underhand and a little cowardly. I did not appreciate being told I had to choose and then after making my decision I was lied to so the vet could go discuss the situation with other vets and then could not even tell me themselves that they would not operate on my pet. I felt I was being messed around and if the risk was so huge then the vet should have stated straight away that my pet could not have her operation.
To sum up, Prospect House provide good care and friendly attitude towards the animals in their care. However, some vets at the practice need to work on their people skills. I think this is a big issue as it is very important to be able to comunicate well with the animals owner as the animal can not tell them how they are feeling and rely on their owners to speak for them. Unfortunately, the lack of people skills has caused me to take my pet to another veterinary clinic. read more
