We have been using these vets now for several years due to owning 2 pet rats (of varying sexes…read morealong the years). Compared to Rhyd Broughton, who we went to a couple of times with one of our first rats, and promptly never went back due to attitude, price, and the feeling of an overall lack of interest or knowledge about rats; Borras Park Vets are outstanding. [As an example, at Rhyd Broughton, after having one of our rats put down, I had to wait in reception for well over 5 minutes, in tears, waiting to pay for the treatment. Disgraceful]. The two main vets at Borras are both lovely - very approachable, informative, and knowledgeable. Their prices are reasonable, and in an emergency they always do their best to fit us in. A very nice touch after one of our rats had to be put down was they sent us a With Sympathy card. Very thoughtful, and costs them very little. Borras Park also have a surgery in Lavister (by the Grosvenor Hotel in Pulford).

They did not give me any healing medicine! They told me it will be a long time to recovery. I bought on internet a healing disinfectant (£11) and I treated him, in few days I was able to take of the bandage and the toe pad it reconstructed. Emergency: Saturday night. Poisoning problem The vet came for him at 11.30pm. He made him vomit, blood test, injection of vitamin K1 and vitamins pills for 28 days. I HAVE TO THANKS STEPHEN, he save him. Bills: 1170!!!!! On the bills the vitamins are the double price of the cost online. They do not need prescription. Obviously all the medicine and treatments fetch outrageous prices here. Conclusion: they know that we love our animals and they use our love to literally ROB us.

We took our new puppy here for her vaccinations 6 weeks ago and were invited to bring her to a…read morepuppy partie the following week.We took her and as she was a little bit nervous but the staff there made a big fuss of her and she was soon at ease with the other puppies there.We have been there on a number of occasions since and they have been very welcoming of us.I have found the vets and nurses very accomodating and their expirience very reassuring as to bringing up a new puppy.We are very happy to use this as our pet s vetinary practice.

Towards the end of the examination he opened my pets mouth wide and he squealed with pain. When placed on the floor, my pet ran to a corner of the room and hid under a chair. Mr. Fahrenholt told me it was, "Part of the procedure". The squealing continued from time to time at home. Very distressing for me and my wife.

We had been using another (the other) local vets since moving to Aberystwyth and late summer 2011…read moremy dog became ill and began losing weight at an alarming rate his condition deteriorated so much so that the vet said he needed to be taken to the surgery and put on a drip. I should point out, that Bob the dog is very car sick and even such a short journey would have been bad for all of us. It was at that moment, that I decided to change vets. As the journey would undoubtably make the poor thing even sicker than he was already, the journey had to be worthwhile. So with the dog at his weakest we booked into Ystwyth Vets, and were seen soon after by a wonderful, cheerful vet who was both knowledgeable and comforting. He talked me through several different scenarios, some quite scary others not so and said the first thing we should do was a blood test. Which my previous vet had also suggested, but had dismissed it as a final resort as it was expensive. At once I was totally at ease with the vet at Ystwyth's and even though he also said it would be expensive, it was clearly the right thing to do as the situation was bad enough without waiting any longer. The results came back a week later, and they showed the dog had pancreatic failure, I don't know enough about medicine to explain the test results but they were extremely low and well below heathy guidelines. What I do know, now is that the pancreas works to digest fat and when it fails, the body stops being able to utilise the fat in the diet and it passes straight through. Which explained the foul faeces and rapid weight loss both of which the previous vet failed to pick up on months before. So, once the Ystwyth vet had the test results, he smiled and explained that now they knew what the problem was and told me not to worry because it was easily treated. To say I was relieved is an understatement. He gave me a tub of pancreatic enzymes without charge as they were past their sell by date. He explained it wasn't a drug they usually kept in stock, but he said that it was worth trying and they would order in some more after the weekend. And that although they were slightly over date it shouldn't make any difference as the tub hadn't been opened. That evening I fed all the dogs and walked them, I saw an immediate improvement in Bob, his faeces proved beyond a doubt that the enzymes worked, and from the next day onwards I was able to increase his food intake as the food I was putting into him was staying in! Gradually he's gained weight and his overall condition has improved a great deal. Before his illness he weighed 35kg at the time of his first consultation at Ystwyth vets he was down to just over 25kg, and at his last weigh in (Dec 2011) he's up to 29kg. When he was at his lowest weight and was very ill I made the decision to shave him, which we've never done as I like OESdogs to have a full coat, it's what sets them apart from other dogs. But as he had lost so much weight & condition, grooming was too painful for him. Now though, he's regaining weight, his body shape is filling out again and his hair has begun to regrow. He will never be the dog he was, as he will remain on this treatment for the rest of his life. But he's making an awesome recovery and is as bouncy and joyful as he ever was. So to sum up, make Ystwyth vets your first port of call. They are a large surgery with many specialised, experienced and knowledgeable veterinarians. The practice is very busy all the time but the staff are always pleasant and helpful. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I have never met a vet with such a kind heart and genuine concern for animals. My 21 year old cat…read morehad severe stomatitis, my usual veternary surgey wanted to put her to sleep, despite the fact that she is perfectly healthy in all other regards. I sought a 2nd opinion with E. Barbour Hill and he didn't give up on her. She is now so much better after surgery and living life to the max. I now have another cat with the same condition and she is also being treated with care and concern by Mr. Barbour Hill. Honestly could't recommend this surgery enough.

She and her husband…read moremade the difficult decision to take their 17 yr old dog to get put to sleep, as anyone who has experienced this its very upsetting but for most a peaceful process. She chose to stay outside while her husband took their dog in due to being too upset and she could actually hear the sounds of pain her dog was making from outside the building. Most vets these days choose to sedate animals before administering the euthanasia drug - and for good reason. I'm not one to leave bad reviews (and Ive not even gone into full detail here) but too disturbed by this not to, this vets methods are out of date, for your animals sake please look for someone else.
